  1. Oh and i did a search and BYB calls them radius rod plates but thats the only site that came up with that word for word on google. They talk about them while installing lifts on ea-81's.
  2. oh i didnt know none came stock in a manual. Hmmph well maybe i will undertake this endeavor. This is my first big subaru project but i think with HTKYSA and all you guys on the forum i might just pull it off. Im doing nothing all summer so this can be my project. The only stuff i see that ill need as far as tools is a welder. Any way to do it without a welder? or should i try to find a shop or something around here that i could go do it? Hey turbone you think that car could make it alright from your house to whidbey island? thanks a ton guys Cheers:drunk:
  3. Yeah im looking at that guide you sent me and looking at the how to keep your sooby alive book i got off ebay to orient myself. I am pondering a couple options. One is i get your car, which looks like a lot of fun, and making it a manual with the money i saved. Or my other option is try to hold out and pay a lot more for another car with a manual already in it. Thanks for everything so far. Cheers:drunk:
  4. Sorry... but hey i got all my questions answered now so no more need to post thanks a ton to turbone. thanks anyways
  5. Actually Turbone is who i am buying the car from . I have the tools and im sure i could find a donor car without to much work. I think the button is just to engage the awd but i am not sure as i dont own the car just yet. Thanks Cheers:drunk:
  6. how hard would it be to replace an automatic pushbutton 4wd tranny with any awd 4spd manual tranny? its in an 84 turbo sedan. Thanks
  7. Wow to bad i dont have a soob yet thats about a half hour from my house just up north of my island. looks like funnnnn
  8. Ahhh an RX-7 you say? what generation? i used to be obsessed. I wanted a 93 r-1 and i was gonna drop a 20b triple rotor in it. Wow those are nice cars. Welcome aand ill seeyah around. Cheers
  9. i meant ehhh ROOTbeer... come on i live on an island what do you expect. Cheers
  10. im tryin not to get to jumpy. I wanna wait until i find juuuust the right car. but wow do i want a car. haha its a combination of the whole subaru thing which is sooooo rad plus the fact that this is gonna be my first car, i get my license a week from today so i cant wait.
  11. haha how close to the US/CA border are you? Think youd have room for me to buy this sea green ghetto rump roast golf off a kid at school for like $200 and bring it up? around here theres plenty of places to offroad but no places just to mess around. LOL hell i could bring a couple friends and we could go full out BBQ. i could just load up the van and bring a few friends a grill some food and some beers. Hahaha that is if you guys can handle us island folk... we are INSANE. Cheers
  12. haha get back to work . Yeah i wanna find an old POS.... i should do that for a science experiment in school... you know like in 6th grade. Ill get a SOOB a honda a mazda a ford and a VW and ill take em all out and see how many jumps they can do going 55 off the same jump before they die. cheers
  13. oh man that looks like so much fun. I dont have it yet but do you guys think an older ea-81 with just a 3" lift and like 27" tires or so would be able to handle a course like that? or is this a big custom rig only kinda place? I think it would be so much fun to do some of that sometime. Have fun... Cheers:drunk:
  14. k cool thanks a ton.... so psyched about gettin my car
  15. hey man for the favors youve done for me if im drivin south i definately will do that for you. If you can get a pic thats great if not i understand. I keep getting in fights with my mom so i think my car keeps getting delayed so it may be a few days still before i can get it. Thanks again man Cheers:drunk:
  16. hahahahahaha man thats so rad.... makes me wanna buy a total POS for like $200 and just jump and rally the hell out of it just slam it into everything.... Thats so rad.
  17. ahh hahaha i am so psyched you guys dont even know... i cant wait to get drivin the soob. I might have found one in oregon that AlexC was tellin me about. $500 and engine runs good.... 1982 ea-81 gl wagon.. . As soon as i get it its time to start the mods . wow i love it haha
  18. hey man i got nothin wrong with comin down to oregon to pick it up. I should have said WA and surrounding areas. What part of oregon are you in? I might just call them. So that would have a dual range tranny right? Would it be toooo much to ask of you to get pictures? maybe theres some way i could help you out back?
  19. wait did alllll GLs have dual range? sorry for thread jack
  20. im lookin for a hatch or a wagon. It must be an ea-81 with 4wd Dual range manual tranny. I want one with as good of condition drive train as i can get, as i am still not very smart in the fixer upper department yet. Dont care about exterior looks as much, i will be changing those anyways. Any broken stuff that wont take to much mechanical knowledge to fix is alright. Any rack, lift, brushguard, etc etc is a plus. Thanks Cheers
  21. yeah no kidding... i bet you no honda, mazda, etc older generation of wagon or sedan could take anything close to that much abuse and keep on tickin.
  22. http://www.drunkstunts.com/pafiledb/pafiledb.php?action=file&id=10 kinda funny... i think this is an ea-82 gl or am i blind? it might not even be a soob for how experienced i am. But still makes me laugh haha. poor soob:banghead: cheers
  23. wow man lookin gooood:brow: . That thing must weight a friggin ton. I love the hard hat area sign... thats so sweet.
  24. oh noooooo:banghead: ... you gotta wonder why crap like that just happens to happen the way it does... sorry man that sounds rough. I hope that guy really needed that peice of wood and had to drive back and get another. And since he was drivin a big stupid truck i hope it cost $1200 in gas. So much for wishful thinking...
  25. lol ive only been on here a few days but i just gotta say thanks to everyone whos been helpin me out so far. AlexC even went out of his way to PM me about whether i would fit. There are far to many of you to name so ill just say thanks to anyone whos replyed to one of my stupid little questions. It really helps a ton... and you helping me out is continuing the line of soob lovers. I already have like 10 friends at school hooked. We spend most of our lunch and any classes we have together plotting out our cars and where we want to go with them. again THANKS. Cheers
