  1. Welcome... im sure youll love it here. Any help you need and youll have it.
  2. Awsome thanks for the info... how much do they usually run?
  3. Okay so ive got an 86 turbo coupe 5 spd d/r turbo and i was wondering about blow off valves... Is it even worth while? i think it would just for the sound . Any preference in brand? Any info at all... thanks.
  4. Okay so i took her back out after it cooled and shes fine... no overheating. Once i park it it gets real hot again im guessing because of no air flow? The smoke is almost definately coming from this foamy stuff covering a metal pipe in the back passenger side kinda deep down. So what im thinking is shes not over heating while i drive just after i park and the smoke is caused by the foam and so shes really alright? any input would be awsome... thanks
  5. Drivin an 86 turbo coupe. The guy i got it from said he never had the heat up past 1/2. Today it was dangerously close to the red. Checked radiatior and it was fine and plenty full. I was driving her kinda hard but not that hard i didnt think... any ideas on what i should check? I popped the hood and it looked like a real faint white smoke was coming out of the passenger side near the back of the engine bay... Thanks Sry this thread is kinda sparse... in a hurry... more info later.
  6. Okay cool once i get back home tomorrow ill try that... thanks man
  7. Thanks man. The new plugs wires caps and rotors will be comin today or tomorrow. Fuel and air filters i will try too. Im going to try to get some fuel injector cleaner today as well. The hoses and belts and oil change Shean did all of in the last couple days. How would i go about seeing if it is a faulty coolent temp sensor? Thanks again.
  8. Okay so i finally did it... got my first car which just happens to be a soob. 1986 subaru gl turbo coupe... 5 spd d/r tranny. The engine has about 34000 miles on her. Okay so shes fast and im lovin her hardcore only one problem i can so far detect. She idles rough as hell and when going it seems to misfire. Im thinkin either to much gas or not enough or not enough air... perhaps problem with vacuum? The guy i bought it from... Shean aka The Scooby... took off what i think he said was a gas cutoff regulator... something like that. He said it just makes it so now the car doesnt cutoff gas after a long drive. Could this be making vacuum just floppin around with nothin pluggin the end? I was also thinkin maybe she needs new spark plugs. He threw in some brand new ngks so ill pop em in over the next couple days. Also he said the rough idle was because it wasnt warmed up and we took it for a drive and it seemed after it got warmed up that it was true because it seemed to idle just fine after that... but it cools real quick and starts all over. Dont get me wrong i love the car and would do it again in a heart beat but this idle and misfire is driving me nuts... Anyone had this problem or could possible help out? Thanks in advance.
  9. Dude... you are insane and crazy and totally rad for it. Me and my friends salute you. If i had the money id be attempting this exact same thing. A WRX STi is a fast car yes... but stock they are not super duper rally machines as most believe. You have to drop a lot of money into a stock sti to make it the sti that has won all the championships on 5 or 6 continents. I say if youve got the bank then itll happen. Youve got the support you need from most of us here sooo as long as youve got the will thisll happen. Goodluck man keep us posted. Oh and with that weight difference you got him in the twisties np Cheers my man
  10. Ooooo i totally dig the carbon fiber dash... that looks rad. I see you have a nice lookin stereo too and it got me to wondering... what kind of music does italy listen to on its bumpin cd players. Im not trying to be stereotypical but i just think of the typical music i hear in a movie while in italy and i cant picture it being blasted on a cd player haha. Fill me in im curious.
  11. Its an ea-82 so he should check timing belts right? i donno what else... i am gonna be needing this same info tho so any help?
  12. 9 different VWs were spotted weaving in and out of cones and driving at speeds of 100+ mph by pedestrians. They called the cops. 3 cop cars pulled over the entire caravan and one of the kids driving had a video camera. They watched the video of him and his friends speeding and weaving all on their way to waterfest. DONT do stupid stuff like that in a sooby caravan...
  13. Oh wow thats a beauty.... i didnt know what to think when i first heard of it... but now all i can say is... WOW.... awsome car man awsome.
  14. Send a personal message to the scooby if you are gonna go the route of KYB GR-2's... hes selling a set of them.
  15. Yeah im pretty sure thats called compression starting. Or thats what my brother always told me it was called. We would do that everytime the battery died... id push the car either down a hill or just fast from behind and hed dump the clutch and itd fire right up. Donno your problem though... ill leave that to the experts.
  16. The turbo coupe is MPFI ea-82 i do believe.
  17. Boards kinda slow again tonight so time for some more questions. Okay so im puttin an MT into an 84 turbo coupe that has a 3at right now... as if you didnt know. Should i go with the 4spd or the 5 spd? I hear 4spds are smoother annnnd im sure easier to find annnnd more reliable. But im missin an extra gear right? The car is going to be for rally and i hear the 4spd is geard better for this? Okay and then the next question... Dual range or ft4wd or none of em? How about as far as easiness of puttin em in? I think a lot of this is repetative and im sorry for that... just lookin for some other perspective thanks a million.... Cheers:drunk:
