hey another 16 year old . Id say u need a new rad and u might as well replace your hoses while your at it... or maybe just take it out and clean the fins really good see if that helps.

Ill take some pictures when i can. Its not the whole side thats crooked its just like the little lip that seals around the hatch got dented in so theres a little lip now that keeps the hatch from closing all the way but i could bang it out with a hammer. Id rather just try to get a new piece for it though. Every time i look at it i wanna kick it im so pissed at myself. Oh well 16 year old kids do stupid stuff right? Oh and ill check around local but if i cant find anything then craven i might just pay to have it shipped. :-\

Aye i do believe greg is right? thats how my science teacher said it. I hear all turbo charged engines shoudl run higher octane because it burns slower causing less wear on the turbo. Also if you run too high an octane for your car itll cause carbon deposits because its burning to slow. I dont know if this is all true or myth or what just my 2 cents.

Yeah i thought hard about your coupe but it was actually to good looking... i didnt feel right using it as my beater . Someday maybe. Oh well lesson learned.... steep hills= the devil. I wasnt doing something as stupid as you all might think and its realy not to bad just a little scraped and dented. All the damage was dents and scrapes no real body damage and it can all be pretty easily replaced. I got plenty of time and should have around enough money too. The engine still runs just as strong as before the only problem is the power steering is shot but i can replace that too. What else would i need?:-\

K so i... well lets just say i had a little rally accident:banghead: ... drivers side is pretty scraped. Roofs got a nice scrape in it too. Who was it makin fiberglass panels? Or where else should i go for some. I dont care the color. I need a door panel and the piece right behind it for an 86 gl coupe. As it is my hatch wont close because the metal on the drivers side is bent in blocking it. The window right behind the door is broken out too and im missing my mirror and the weather stripping... should i just go to a parts yard for these? Thanks

86 turbo coupe 5 spd d/r... thinkin about a cherry bomb exhaust... any recomendations? Oh and what size is stock exhaust on an 86 soob... like what size cherrybomb would i need? I NEED INPUT thanks...

Okay off the the dealership it is... and funny you should mention the rad cap as Shean had another in the glove box when i bought it. Hey i gotta question though... on the one thats on my rad now it says 13 lbs. On the new one it says 16 lbs. Whats the difference? Its not gonna hurt her to put a different one on right? Thanks

Yeah i think thats just what you get driving an older car... they just need to be warmed up a little but there might be a way to get it so it doesnt as much... I just havent found it. Try startin your car a few minutes before you have to go somewhere or else just sit in it and hold it at about 1500 RPMS for a minute or 2 and it should be okay.

Yeah my 86 coupe does the same. I think its just what older cars do. Let it sit and rev it a little bit and try to warm it up some... this usually helps for me. Thats just my 2 cents but there could be something more to it. Goodluck

Okay so tomorrow is the sooby lovin day. Flush the rad and wash the fins... new spark plugs wires caps and rotors... a good cleanin... checkin the coolant sensor and fuel filter... etc etc etc. But i was also gonna put in one of the 160 or 180 degrees thermostats. Which one should i put in? Also how do i put it in haha. This is not only my first soob but my first car entirely. So... any tips or advice on any of that stuff? thanks

Seems like a lift would be easier to put in while no engine was in because of less weight... etc but thats just my 2 cents.

Okay soo... i checked the rad again today when it was totally cooled... now that im back home i can actually do stuff to it. So i was reading my haynes service manual thing and it says that the coolant should be all the way up between e and f on the coolant resevoir. The resevoir was bone dry so i added water... waited a bit and bubbles started coming and water went down. So i kept adding and adding and it finally stabalized but the bubbles werent just from the hose they were from the rad meaning it wasnt full. Is just this enough to cause it to overheat? Tomorrow ill take the rad out and blast it free of debris etc. Still i dont know about that smoke though it smokes even when the temp isnt that high just from this foamy covering on the metal pipe right to the left of where the spare is. It looks like it comes from the rad and goes towards the firewall then dips down and theres a LOT of space around it.... Oh well

I'm thinking we should email a link to this thread to them? Maybe itll help them either clean up orrrr defend themselves or something? What do you guys think... ill do the emailing if anyone agrees?
