envious of US subaru owners
TheMeatWagon replied to subGSR's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
hehe GD incase you didnt notice SUBGSR is 42 so that puts him right in the range they hit with those Bajas... Im 16 and i think theyre pretty cool... but i can see why they didnt meet quotas... oh and BTW 206 KW= 276.25HP and 253 kw = 339.27 hp. Cheers -
Hey whats the turbo light mean?
TheMeatWagon replied to TheMeatWagon's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Ahh yeah theres a lot of loose hoses floppin around under the hood so if you got one it would be much appreciated. And i think ill leave the turbo alone for now as i still am learning to rally and i dont need more power . As soon as i am a little more experienced and i get the engine tuned and running 100% then ill start uppin 115 horses of raw fury. Its not a matter of me being a safe driver, because i am, its just that i suck haha... only had my license for a couple months now. -

Well its a stock turbo so i guess it fits quite nicely huh . Thanks man -
its a coupe but i dont think that makes a difference. I know i posted this question in another thread but i wanted to make it its own. If this pisses of someone then feel free to delete it. I need the vacuum diagram for an 86 gl turbo. There are 6 or so open vac lines that i think are important in one way or another that i would like to reconnect but i dont know where to start. Would it be possible to scan it? Or even take a pic of your car . Any help is much appreciated thanks

Awww i know how a turbo works im not that young... i just didnt know what the green light meant and if by him saying it means its showing pressure i wondered like if it meant excess pressure. The vac hoses we hooked up didnt have much to do with the turbo at all i dont think and when they were connected it totally bogged the engine so we disconnected em again. Oh well... what do your guys turbos usually put out as far as PSI? Mine is doin 7-8 psi. -

soo the green light is a bad thing? And thanks for tryin to get me a vac diagram -
Okay so ive been drivin my car and never once have i seen the green turbo light light up behind the turbo... So today im workin on the car and there are like 6 different vacuum lines all disconnected from the previous owner. The car still runs with em disconnected but i wanna get em put back to make sure they arent causing a problem. Ill take a picture of em when i get my digicam back and ask you guys if you know where they go. Anyone have a pretty complete vacuum diagram? Or maybe just a pic of the front passenger side of the engine bay where that cluster of hoses is from an 86 gl tubo coupe? Anyways so we were messin around changing the hose configurations and this one time a hose was connected i revved up the engine and for the first time ever saw the little green turbo light behind the word turbo light up to the bottom left of the speedo... whats this mean? Anyone? thanks

1986 GL sedan alternator problem
TheMeatWagon replied to vhenem's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Crap i might be havin the same problem... does it make your car run a little rougher too? Like it misses sometimes? And the exhaust kinda smells of unburned gas? I think its not getting enough spark... I wrecked the car the other day and it wouldnt start so i cleaned the battery terminals a little bit and then restarted it today with not accessories on and it idled fine for the first time since ive owned it. Weird. -

TheMeatWagon replied to ashesh's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Okay... like my sig says the only stuff i know is what ive learned here before this i was clueles... I just remember used to wanting a gl-10 but then heard they were all autos i guess for the ea-81s and made bad assumptions and then im posting wrong. Oh well im done trying to give advice... later. -
yeah the door wasnt closing because of a big dent but i banged that out and the hatch wouldnt close because a big lip of metal got pushed over but i fixed that now too so that stuff is working... I havent had a chance to drive it since the accident with power steering so i dont know if theres like a bent axle or sumthin goin on... but i guess ill find out soon enough.

hahahaha hahhhh ahhhh haha... man if i was drivin my moms car i would be so dead... hahaha. Seein as how i payed 100% outta my pocket tho she was alright. WHen i flipped it back up it was still running but i turned it off to make sure nothin bad was happening. It wouldnt restart but i popped the hood and saw one batt cable wasnt connected. It started right up after i popped that badboy back on. I thought it was funny as hell... maybe i was in shock i donno but i thought it was hella fun just the rush of it. We were both wearin our seatbelts thank god and it saved both of us im sure. After we were on our side my sister was just kinda dangling from hers. Scared me afterwords.. i coulda died... but im alive now so its all good:grin:. Oh and since i just got the car i had no insurance so if a cop woulda come by i woulda been screwed... This guy drove by in a truck and the car was on its side and my arm was all bloody and HE DIDNT EVEN STOP that jackass just gave me the eye and kept on goin. He called the fire department and a guy came but i already had the car righted and told him that it had never flipped and my parents were on their way... he siad okay and just took off.... whew... close call

a YYAYYYY and a BOOOO and a question or 2
TheMeatWagon replied to TheMeatWagon's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
ahhh you know that truely is an awsome idea... my little sister has tons. Easy to get off and totally waterproff huh. Thanks man -
haha that rhymed... anyways... Okay so contrasting to my fear i got the hatch closed on my newly wrecked 86 gl coupe. I thought maybe i cause a lot of structural damage and i was gonna have to redo a lot more. Instead though i just banged a little metal back and had to fiddle with the little connectors a bit. Closes great though now. Anyways now to the boo and the question or 2. The paint has peeled a bit and its already showing signs of rust. Whats a good temporary way to keep it offa there. Like some brush on crap or sumthing? Its not gettin wet at all around here except moisture in the air. Any ideas....!?

ah crap... made myself look an rump roast once again... i am thinkin all ea-81 or sumthin i donno... whatever i will stop talkin right now:banghead: -
Actually youd be surprised. She took this way better then i thought. When i called her i was just like... Hey i effed up... my cars on its side... can you come get me. And she was totally calm about it. She wouldnt come get me because she was afraid it would be nasty but when i walked in the door i just handed over my license and said hey i know this is comin. She realized i knew i messed up BIG TIME and was a little more forgiving because of it. Well i learned my lesson... I need to learn to drive like a pro before i try to drive like a pro...
