4-20-08 Hood River run.
Here's my TR of the run... Middle mtn(between Parkdale/Odell) was our main trailrun...then we tried to hit up the powerlines FS12(pinemont rd of hwy35) near Surveyors ridge and ran into deep snow drifts ...so then we headed down over to Binnshill, Roirdan rd. for more fun and hit more snow...and some fun stuff there . I discovered a broken 22mm swaybar on my rig:dead: ..flaw in manufacturing...Rallitek is warrantying ...free of charge..(I bought in '05:banana: ). I also saw my steering rack boot had torn as well $22 my cost..no biggie probably a tree branch...) I think we all got a growler of our favourite brew...to go....then of to White river for more cookies.. After all the that we are heading back down from Govy camp to find blizzard conditions with very low visability...it was freaky when you can't see the road...and being hypnotized by the snow like jumping to hyperdrive in Starwars... Here's my pics...

4-10-08 night patrol
Kewl man...I love night wheelin...I could always light a few tea lights... I have no problem wheelin alone or @ night....as long as I'm prepared for it....I usually stick to known trails as well. As far as GPS I'm not a fan:dead: ...old school...map/rear view mirror compass(some new school)

Tsf 4-12-08 *now with pics!*
Right on:headbang: TSF is at my back door...They are very soob friendly trails...I always get funny looks when they see my outback wheelin there...(ya know the big eyes through the goggles/wtf) I think I've done about 90% of the more difficult trails there without any real issues. We have to do a soob trail run down there.... I was taking my son out hiking to the top of Kings mtn Sun....pretty tough for a 4yr old...5miles round trip and around 2500ft elev. gain.

'00 EJ25 Swap w/ EZ30 or '04 EJ25
They are just programmed differently one is for a 4cyl the other is for a 6cyl. Also you might note throttle cables,alt,a/c,radiator are different. Note about the Ej25 '03-current have almost zero HG issues. About harnesses I just saw an ebay listing for a lot of '04 outback H6 harness new for like $5.99 plus shipping!!! better jump on that one!!!

H6 Swap...
scoobyclimbs replied to BruceyWV's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXHey Brucey, I picked up an EZ30 for $200 cash..yep that's two BF's.... So my swap is beginning...

'00 EJ25 Swap w/ EZ30 or '04 EJ25
I'm doing an EZ30 swap in my '03 OBW...The only difference would be the harness, exhaust other than that it's a drop in...Note : you have to use the H6 front springs as they are rated for the heavier engine(about 30+lbs I believe) They even share (EZ30/EJ25) the same ECU..... I think in your case an '03-'04 EJ25 would be your best bet. I've had no issues at all at 82k...I just want more torque...and save my ej25 for a brat...

Colton side of Goat. 3-16-08
I do have to make sure my Fiancee will be cool with it though (we really only see each other on weekends and wednesday nights right now). But I don't see why not. She supports me in all my hobbies. She actually pushed me to start RallyCross, and flying R/C planes. And keeps bugging me to finish up my new album so she can play it in the club. Another one lost to the chopping block...(gettin hitched..lol) J/K... She supports all that stuff...cos she knows you won't get into any trouble....lol! I'm game for Sunday!

Mt.hood new years run...dec. 31
Team CF and I headed up Peavine mtn..just outside of McMinneville. We had some nice views of Hood and Jefferson...it was rather slick in places and some pretty soft wet snow... We came around this bend and a couple managed to slide there Bronco into a nasty ditch... ..Of course we stopped and tried to get them out..some bad luck for their outting...the linkage was broken on their trans:dead: so they had no power....We made a valiant effort to get them unstuck....but slippery conditons made it difficult...Along comes an F250 4x4 diesel with M/t's and we got them out ok...they had friend come up and meet them..so we headed up as far as we could...it was fun just to get out... Happy New years!

Mt.hood new years run...dec. 31
Happy New years! Looks like TSF might be our best bet as the East winds are hitting the gorge hard... I got my R/F wheel bearings and seals done the last day of the year...So I'm ready to roll in the new year..

Mt.hood new years run...dec. 31
I'm postponing the run due to mechanicals (R.F wheel bearing) and too many folks on the mtn...It was a zoo up there yesterday....way too many folks up there.. New years day...run..now...

Lolo pass freshies
- Lolo pass freshies
That video cracked me up... Great pics!- Lolo pass freshies
Team CF and I ventured up Lolo pass from Zig Zag only to be treated with great views of Hood on the way... However , the shroud of clouds blocked Hood at pass... Once at the top we tried the power line spur climb for a nice view...after a couple of tries ...we then chained up our front tires. Once up top we had a bit of lunch...and enjoyed the view of the pass. At the junction we decided to take fs rd spur 100 which is the short cut through the pass...there were about four obstacles that were not so friendly...I stuck myself or wedged my front and rear bumper in a steep whoop...doh... Good thing were were prepared...I dug out the maddox and removed chunks of packed snow from the back...and a couple of quick pulls with a recovery strap Team Cf got me out... So now we decided to head down the main pass rd...and came upon six full size pickups(chained fronts) . We pulled off the side to the let them pass...they barely got by us...diggin in and sliding all over the place. Team Cf had slid the back end in some deep stuff so I returned the favor and pulled him out.... We had no problem with the new snow....it was better than last weekend...However, the big 4x4's made a mess of the track...one of them had got stuck (suburban) but finally got out... We now got all the way through the pass....and headed over to Middle mtn...S.Gilhouley rd...only to be greated by a closed gate... So off to Pine mount rd FS rd 17...and some spurs...it was dark now and we were blazing...out overheads as fresh snow fell ....We decide to turn around near Surveyors ridge... We decided to hit the Eliot glacier public house (parkdale)for a pint . Later we headed over hwy 35 to white river snowpark for a few cookies... with our overheads on ...it looked like a couple of UFO's were landing... Here's a few pics..Team Cf has more..- Keep it, or trade it?
scoobyclimbs replied to sparkydave's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI think the burning smell is common with the undercoating...mine took almost two years to finally go away...I'd keep the car...- Lolo pass doable..
Yesterday after skiing with my boy...we venured up hwy 44 about five miles...where only snowmoblies..went...they couldn't believe my outback went up there...like it was nothing.... gotta love frozen snowpack... I then cruised over to parkdale/odell to lost lake rd..and up and over Lolo pass....I wasn't sure if I could make it with the snowfall...and deep ruts from trucks, jeeps that had frozen over....good thing I have a skidplate.. When I got to the top a jeeper was airing up his tires...He couldn't believe my outback made it all the way...He was like no way....I think I changed his thinking about Subarus.... It was a great day...wahoo...- Thanks to all that joined us on the Hatch Patrol Xmas run!!
I did make it....little did I know I was just on the other side of fs rd 72 beyond the gate....near Dalles ridge....and lightning creek... I had to chain up the front as it was pretty slick...I pulled a subaruban that got stuck next to me(not the tahoe in the pic)....then on the way down I pulled a 2 gen outback that slid the back end into a ditch... From ther I headed over to Suntop...fs rd 73 and broke trail where the other 4x4's couldn't go any farther... I had forgotten the turnoff.....and then found you guys... I had a great time even though it was short and sweet with the group..did a few cookies and hill climbs...after most of the group left..wahoo.... I then endured the brutal drive down in the rain from hell.. here's some pics... note the blue sky...! and the White river ...is truly white!!!- my 04 outback sport needs more, well...sport
A 2.25"catback exhaust/muffler, CAI, borla header or equal length header, Perfect power SMT-6, Perrin crank pulley. I did all those above cruise up the passes in my heavy OBW...no problem...!- 2. Pros and Cons of Dual Range VS AWD
scoobyclimbs replied to cole098's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXHaving done alot of wheelin in deep snow..I'd rather have 4wd..with a lo- range...less chance of spinning a tire...and losing traction especially on steep hillclimbs...At least the folks in OZ get a lo-range with AWD on new gen stuff.. AWD is great for street/rally style drifts..in gravel or under a foot of snow...However , once you get offset your done...without momentum...to get over obstacles...good luck getting your LSD to kick in intime... but offroad..... 4wd is King hands down....LSD is ok but a locked front/rear diff. rules...lincoln lockers..baby.. Besides how deep of snow are we talkin'..a foot or more...clearance is more an issue...Most of the time if ya get stuck in deep snow your gonna dig yourself out...since the snow is highcentering your vehicle....I use a telescoping snow shovel...works great.. A cumalong...or winch is your best friend.....always bring lots of shackles /straps./tree saver..Usually a couple minutes of diggin the snow out and your ready to go.. Tires...I run AT tires on my outback and have broke trail in almost 3ft of powder....without chains...! Don't forget to air down your tires ....I'll air down to 15psi or less...for serious traction.. Unless it's icy.....I haven't had to chain up yet...(with street tires ..yes) - Lolo pass freshies
