  1. I do all the time....use syn. atf for added protection....+ a cooler. for crawling steep long climbs in hot weather it's really tough . 2nd gear is best for crawling .
  2. ok I'm not into gps...as it does not work in deep forested areas...It only works in open terrain with good weather...I proved that when I rescued a woman on Mt.Hood who lost GPS signals and cell frequencies...she had no clue where she was ...(had no maps..) .enough babble.. I recommend you contact Chazmataz...he's into geocaching....!!! We can go up as a group to go wheelin'.....Chaz can get the GPS stuff and maybe a stash.....I know of even more hidden areas....near there....for awesome...camping!
  3. stock was just fine...I've had zero problems with alignment for a few years now...If you more than 2" of height then you might have more issues..
  4. I went through that with the front Kingsprings for my'03 OBW . http://subaruoutback.org/forums/showthread.php?threadid=1786&highlight=king+springs

  7. Sweetness! I love your beast! The bumper is awesome!!! I suggest using syn. ATF works for me...trans cooler is also good. change your ATF often!!! especially if your AT light comes on ...change it plus the filter! You'll thank me later... nice work!
  8. The eagle has landed..!! I love that beast! I go wheelin' with anyone...jeeps, toys, fords, chevs, whoever is game... my '03 outback and friends...(subes of course) we have a large squad...!
  9. sweetness! I'm going to be there for a day at least...I had fun in Florence dunes.. so I know I'll be good at sand lake! By the way If ya wanna venture over to TSF(tillamook state forest) I know the area very well and have done 90% of the 'more difficult' trails...
  10. I know with kingsprings the service is fantastic..I bought a set from OZ.. and got them in 4 days!!! fedex is the way to go ..forget the slowboat from China...
  11. BF Goodrich Traction ta's are great for all seasons....Good up to 8" in snow without chains! I had a set of the H rated ..they are great on mtn roads and drifting on gravel. I'm on my second set but choose the V rated (stickier version) . They corner awesome.!!!

  16. Just recipricating the karma..man..Yeppers , that was me stuck like a big dog...
  17. It was a blast! The best part was the PDX Tunning van got stuck and was attempted to be pulled by an F-250 4x4...he just spun his tires! It was very muddy/grassy area behind the car show area. Then I pull my outback up and pulled the F250 out , then the Chevy van!!! The guy in the F250 never thanked me ...was embarrased and hauled rump roast outta there....he got a ticket too! Someone out there got it all on video and still photos ..about 40 folks came outta the woodwork to watch subie power!
  18. Only a 1.5 years ..are you joking me!...I've been working as a mechanic for 15 years and let me tell you we have parts coming from over a dozen different suppliers including dealer parts that are flawed right out of the box ...you haven't worked long enough to know the business well enough.. most of the the stuff is made in mexico, china , etc. not many parts are from USA anymore...they outsource everything cos it's cheap ! When you come up with a better argument I'm all ears....nuff said..
  19. Thirfty's is fine. I've been getting parts there for over 20yrs! never had a problem...too boot they are the only 24hr shop open in the Portland area! The shop is right about the warranty situation........just give them the pump...gees...Yeah it sucks not having the cash ...but that's business... Ya know how many parts I've got right outta the box that failed ....I wrench on vehicles every day!!! Today in fact we got one flawed wheel cylinder ....get used to it... Did ya fill the pump with oil before you installed it? Have you taken the motor apart yet ? A good inspection of the parts will tell the story...What's the history of the motor..? First thing ya have to do is calm down and figure out what went wrong and fix it..IF the crank isn't messed up just throw and set of rod and main bearings in (really cheap) . Inspect everything...! You may need a rod resized..or a new one .. Good luck...Trevor...give me a call if ya need a hand
  20. I went for stealth factor...It looks so clean too... I ran them through the A-pillar ..then up through the roof via the Roof rail and then out the side of the rail with weatherpack connectors..Don't forget to silicone the holes and also rubber grommets for chaff resistance... Here's a link to what I did... http://www.subaruoutback.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=4323&highlight=overhead
  21. scoobyclimbs posted a topic in Off Road
I got first tracks after cutting up some blowdown up off Peavine rd in McMinnville...Wahoo! http://www.subaruoutback.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=8007
  22. Pm me if your interested in a full set of factory '03 outback speakers(4) like new condition. Just sitting in my garage ....$50 + shipping and they're yours.
  23. It was time to upgrade from the 'large marge' seats in my outback. Plus I saved a few pounds too...no more back problems either!!! I hated sliding around while drifting or wheelin'...problem solved. Now , I know why I needed a seat heater and lumbar support in the outback seats....they suck!!! The WRX seats are very supportive and comfy on long trips..plus I have side impact airbags...I just need to wire them in.
