  9. not a problem...you can always turn off at Brightwood and take the backway to lolopass rd. The runners are so spread out...don't worry. They have to let traffic pass. I've gone up may times during H to C and never had a problem...
  10. no ...It just means that if your travelling from hwy 26 to hwy35 to get to Parkdale you may have to make alternate plans to get to parkdale. Hwy 97 North to 197 North to I-84 West to hwy 35 ok. Hwy 26 East to zigzag mtn store then proceed via Lolo pass to Parkdale ok.
  11. I thought this would be a good link to post as many folks are travelling long distances want to travel along these routes. Let's hope they get these fires out soon! I was just wheelin' near Gumjuwac saddle..a few weeks ago!!! http://www.fs.fed.us/r6/mthood/conditions/index.shtml http://www.inciweb.org/incident/401/ http://www.tripcheck.com/Pages/RCMap.asp?mainNav=RoadConditions&curRegion=2
  12. Schweet! Nice climb!
  13. since , I can't edit my previous post I'll add these newer pics...Who says new gen(2000-newer can't go wheelin')my lifted '03 outback wagon....w/many mods....
  14. here's a link to the real deal...not much for scenic views just wheelin'... http://www.subaruoutback.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=5446
  15. I'll second the BFG Traction ta H rated tires...I love them ....great in wet and awesome in snow up to 8 inches! Gravel they fair nicely...I've had mine for about 35k and are just starting to show some wear. I do alot of offroad driving as well they work great on mtn roads . The nice part is that they are fairly cheap.
  16. Also handling will be off as well if the aligment is off abit. However , they stated they didn't rotate regularly...so that's more likely the problem. I know the '06 outback in particular had issues with the rear alignment due to a weak rear suspension problem. hence , poor wear/handling... I think the tire shop was right about the mtn driving and wear...
  17. Sorry guys , It was like 1:00pm when I left... kinda late in the day although I was out till 9:30pm... I hate to call last minute....I'm just abit spontaneous ....I just go ...I hate being nailed down....Sometimes ya just gotta go on a whim and wing it ya know.... Anyway next time for sure guys! This Sunday? are ya game...? Early this time....Meet at Fred Meyer(cornelious pass exit)off hwy 26West....say 9am ...Don't forget your OHV permit $10.50 for a year ...I got mine at GI Joes ticket master.I know there is more places...to explore ! Browns camp was pretty lame... I just went a few months back it's all blocked off....Great if ya have a motorcycle/mtn bike/quad/horses. Bring ur FRS radios channel 2 . Here's a link to the list of trail closures....http://egov.oregon.gov/ODF/TSF/road_and_trail_rpt.shtml
  18. An alignment is only needed if ya hit a pothole or rut/curb really hard and drives strange afterward....don't waste your money ...Your tires will tell you whats going on rather quickly...like cupping/feathering ...the tire shop will know whats going on ....like I said before my buddy has the same deal ... I also recommend you check tire pressures once a week !!! At elevation temps rise and drop alot. Tire shops are notorious about overinflation of tires! Go by the manufacturers recommendations at the drivers door jam.
  19. That is one of the nicest hatches I've seen yet !very clean...nice work!
  20. I don't think anything will last with winding roads very hard on any tires! Just replace them often with cheap ones. A buddy of mine is in the same situation including the gravel rds. he goes through about 3 to 4 sets a year! Unless you've got a fat wallet.
  21. Get some PBR Metal master brakes ...ten fold better than stock!
  22. here's a link to my fun last Sunday... http://www.subaruoutback.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&postid=54396#post54396
  23. Ya just need a snorkel!
  24. Sounds like a classic trip !...and you made it back in one peice...!
  25. when you cross the two wood bridges it's due West between the bridges...old clear cut rd. and stay on the left spur.
