  1. Hey guys Im looking for a fuel pump for a 1986 EA82 GL 4WD Wagon. It's square and it sits on a metal shelf right in front of the RR wheel. Thanks guys....
  2. Should I have 12 volts to the pump? So with 2 wires one is the hot and the other goes to ground?
  3. So should I expect 7-8 out if my OEM pump or is 2-3 normal?
  4. You would think 2-3 pounds would be enough to fill the filter. There was barley any coming into filter. The pressure did go down to 1 pound. I'm still thinking weak pump but will run a hot from the battery to see if pressure increases. sounds like relay is ok because the pump is running steady when the car is running. Remember this is an intermittent problem and right now the car is cooperating. Need to look at things when the car dies as it did yesterday.
  5. No I have not run wires straight to the pump. Sounds like an easy check. I will do that tomorrow.
  6. Ok guys I have done a little bit of work today. I replaced both fuel filters. The one upstream of the fuel pump and the one right before the carb (i have a Weber). Installed an inline pressure gauge. The car did start and the most pressure I did see was 2-3#. I felt the pump while the car was running and did feel it pumping. One thing that I noticed is that the fuel filter (its clear) right before the carb is empty and I can barley see a stream of fuel coming into the filter. Although the car continued to run at idle I'm sure if I took off down the street it would not keep up. So it appears I have a weak pump. I have heard people say it could be the fuel relay but I'm not sure the pump would even run if the relay was bad. Anyone else concur? Thanks guys....
  7. Thanks guys. I'll get a pressure gauge and see what I have for pressure....
  8. Hey guys need some help. Looked for some threads on fuel issues but really didn't find anything that helped yet. This is what's happening on my 86 EA GL. It started yesterday when I was going to lunch. It started just fine and as I started to head off it putted for a little then died. It would restart but only run at idle for a few seconds. If I tried to give it gas it would try to go but eventually die. After a few minutes of trying to get her going it finally wouldn't even try anymore. I let it sit for 5 hours. It then started fine and I drove her home. This morning same thing happened, started fine but after a few minutes she died. It would run for a little at idle but hen die. Same as yesterday. Im thinking its fuel related (at least I think so). Started looking for fuel pump and found what I think is the fuel pump in front of RR wheel. Its on a sort of metal shelf but its square. All the fuel pumps I've seen online are round. Here's some pics of what I found... Is this my fuel pump? Any thoughts on what I can troubleshoot to find problem? Appreciate the help guys....pete
  9. Go for the 78 bro! You'll love it...

  10. Whats up lil Red Justy 88?

  11. Agree with GD. I had the same problem with my 86. Died all the time. Installed a Weber and have not had one issue since plus it has more balls:D
  12. Here is a Weber on a EA71....didn't have any problems with the fit....
  13. I say go for it too! I have an 86 and a 77 and yes the 77 has required a lot more work but it is so much cooler. I love it. I still have more work to do on the 77 but is real close to being able to drive it daily. There are still a lot of guys out there that will help you with parts but with 70K original miles your starting off in pretty good shape. Here's my 77... I have done a lot of work on it since this picture but it has been fun working on it....
  14. Thanks I will give them a shot. I went to their web-site and they don't list the window seal anymore but I emailed them and will see what they have....pete
  15. I have an EA82 and drive hwy/town mix. I have a Weber and opened up my exhaust. I get 30MPG. Not sure what environmental testing is done in WA but in NM we don't have to pass emissions testing so not having a cat is no problem. New Weber around 300 bucks and would pay for itself in around 38 days of driving if I did my math right. By installing a Weber you could take all that smog crap off (if your state will allow) and you should see a huge improvement....
  16. I did replace both VR and Alt at the same time. Haven't had any problems since then
  17. BTW it was a loose fuse believe it or not. Just had to squeeze the metal ends and that took care of the problem...pete
  18. the weather stripping on the doors for the windows. Here's a pic...
  19. No have not done timing belts. Probably should replace at same it time huh? Do you recommend rebuilding pump along with new gaskets?
  20. What is Seafoam? Never heard of it. I'll give it a shot, Walmart? Also if that doesn't work do I just change the gaskets on the oil pump or rebuild it?.
  21. I have put in the stuff that says it helps quite noisy lifters. Seem to help for a while but hasn't lately. It continues to click. I guess I'll rebuild pump. Can i get it out without pulling engine?
  22. Would affect just one head? I have noticed the pressure fluctuating and showing lower pressure even with RPM above idle. Do they have kits?
  23. Hey guys I'm in need of EA82 heads. I'm fine with used if they are in good shape. I have one head that needs rebuilt badly. Its making a real bad ticking sound. Doesn't burn any oil and the ticking comes and goes but it seems to have gotten worse. I don't have the tools to rebuild heads myself and don't have the funds to have them done. If you have any please send PM. Thanks guys....Pete.
