  1. On my ea82t the a/c compressor has this annoying tick noise that goes away with one little spritz of wd-40. Is there a way to grease or oil it? It last maybe a day if that.
  2. I got the engine warmed up the thermostat opened and got quite a few burps / bubbles out and topped it off with 50/50. Drove it and it was getting to hot for my liking so brought it home and I guess it burped more so I topped it off again and noticed that my electric thermoswitched fan wasn't coming on so I just hardwired it to a keyed positive and bam nice running temp! One thing I noticed is that when I turn on the heater/blower fan switch it goes up one temp bar within 10 seconds and same when switched off? Hmm?
  3. Alright, I got a new radiator cap and put in a new thermostat and got it all back together but ran out of daylight to hopefully burp the radiator. When I was working on it today the very top of the thermostat housing separated a little bit. ( the female end of the connection ) I could peak in there and see the two wires in there. It seemed to clip back into place. Is it broken or will it be ok clipped back together? Thank you all for you help so far it's greatly appreciated!! -matt
  4. On my short drive today I got the temp gauge to half way and got home and checked the radiator and cap, the top hose was pretty pressurized and warm, the cap was leaking slightly but cold to the touch, I went to take it off slowly and it coughed out some coolant as I was turning it so I didn't take it off all the way. Do I have some sort of blockage or over pressurization seeing the pressure is there and the rad cap is still cold? Hmm thanks
  5. Hello, 87 gl10 ea82t. It seems to be overflowing a small amount out of the cap, is it possible I overfilled the radiator or overflow tank? gauge reads at about half temp and no higher at running temp. I noticed that the hoses on the radiator (top and bottom) seem to have a fair amount of pressure when I poked at them, is this normal? Thanks
  6. Got new wiper blades and somehow while installing them, the car decided that the intermittent setting would start working... Strange.. It wanted new wipers I guess? I'm ok with it
  7. So I wiggled and cleaned up the CTS wires as good as I could, apparently did the trick. I'm able to start it up at all temp and the idle seems to be a touch lower too. My only concern is that if I end up needing to replace the CTS how do I unscrew the ground wire one that so tucked in there? I tried putting a 1/4" ratchet with a Phillips and standard screw driver head with no luck. Hmm. -matt
  8. Ok so I checked fuses cleaned all connections and continuity all is well, I went to jump start it as the battery was to low (11.6v) to try to start it. It fired right up and is charging at 14.1v an running steady. * now the new issue that has made it's self more clear, it will only start one time. This morning after cleaning and letting it charge for a while and I checked the battery voltage when off and it was at 12.2v, so I tried for another start up and just got a solid crank. It smells like it is flooded, what could cause that? It starts great the fisrt time of the day after sitting overnight but even waiting about 5 hours it struggled to start but did after coughing and sputtering (what I would consider a flooded start) and then cleaning up. So I guess my questions are: 1) what could cause it to flood (if so) 2) could timing be an issue? 3) would the CTS cause this? Per milesfox Thank you for your help everyone!!!! -matt
  9. Also another thing that I thought was weird that when I would put in the key the car won't chime, turn to accessories and no dash anything and no crank when turned to start, even when jumped to a running vehicle.... But!! It will still auto lock the doors and cd player spit out the disc but nothing else works... Are these powered differently? I'm going to check around ASAP with a voltmeter and hope to find the cause.
  10. 87 gl-10 ea82t 5 sp push button 4wd. It's been running fine up until yesterday. I left for work and it started right up, after 5 hours of sitting it acted like the battery was dying but started up. Brand new battery PS. And drove to get gas and it would just acted like an even worse battery, so gave I a push and it started. This morning started up just fine like normally, went on a short errand and it is just rur rur rur rur and no start. I check the alt and it was at 13.4 at th battery when running. I even tried jump starting it this morning too. And also this morning now it doest even recognize there is a key in the ignition not even that nice chime or dash lights or turn over. I checked the fuseable link and they looked good. Any ideas where to look or advise? Thank you. -matt
  11. Got the gl-10 registered and tagged.... Ouch $213. Now just need insurance! I also painted the window pillars, front and rear wiper arms and a little touch up on a PO booboo above the drivers corner light. Now I just have to decide if I want to flat black the hood or leave it oxidized ruby mica? Also need a set of tires that are budget friendly.
  12. Did anyone have more info on "theloyal"s thought? Mine solinoid vac line is still not connected but no CEL, now that it is running. Should I just leave it alone? Or attempt to source one from A JY? Bypass? Early thanks! Danny88gl - I would check look at your and see if its disconnected or damaged, they are very fragile so be careful. Thanks
  13. Hey, I live in Medford. I have a couple mpfi intakes and some other stuff too. I could prob ship it to you unless your up for a drive (4 hours?) just let me know. I can take some pics as well. -matt

  14. Where at in Oregon are you? I'm thinking that the mpfi intake will fit, but you'll have to swap over the ecu computer and wiring to make it work, the harness plugs should be different as well.
  15. For mounting the intercooler I've seen another member use turnbuckles on both sides and putting bolts in place of the eyelet bolts. So you have height/angle adjustment so it fits nicely under the hood. Sorry I can't remember the user to give credit too. -matt
  16. hey dan, I'm in Medford and saw that you've seen a couple late 80s in some local parts yards. Which ones?

  17. After reading the post about the lower trim piece I looked and my 87 gl-10 has the same 1.5 inch or so thick trim strip as well. It does have a clean look to it with that piece. It makes me curious what kinda option that was or package it came on??
  18. If your going to tarp it, I would suggest putting an old thick blanket under the tarp to protect the hood and roof and what else it can cover. It will work to pad it better than the cardboard from the hail. -matt
  19. Also if you try to rotate the crank counter clockwise its most likely just going to loosen up the crank pulley bolt, if it is bound up in some way. -matt
  20. Yeah I have both of those two solenoids close togeter also, the other has a little snorkel lookin thing off one side, that's the 4wd engagement one that The Loyal was speaking of. My car is a push button 5 speed. I'm hoping to get my engine installed in the next couple days so I'll see if my patch of the egr solenoid worked for now. If I venture to the dealership I'll try to have them look up that part number and post it up here for you SB.
  21. It's an 87 gl-10 with the ea82t. I feels like I should just replace it asap so I dont run into issues down the road. Thanks for the help and the part number now that I filled you in on the car details . -matt
  22. So I was able to get a couple better pictures of the solenoid box. It has two hoses on it and two wires coming off it. I was able to glue it back together seems to be an ok fix. What does it do? If it breaks loose again while im driving will it die or run rich/lean? Does anyone have a part number or exact name for it? Thank you
  23. I got my ea82t all cleaned up and re-assembled after tearing it down and swapping long blocks, running coverless now. Just have to install the dist and toss it back into the wagon.
  24. Thank you for your help guys, I really like the open belt look so I'm going for it!
