  1. after all the work was done ,and ran fine , they drove it like 200 miles and started making the noise , they stopped and had it towed to the shop , and has been there almost 1 year, and the shop says rod knock , and has done nothing to it, the shop bought it , and all the other work they have to do , they will sell it to me,
  2. front center is where the noise is coming from , not sure how far it was driven ,
  3. well the hg was done with heads resurfaced and it does start up and run , noise goes away some what after it warms up , after all the work was done they drove it , and starting making the noise, it's at a local shop ,they did not do the work , the owner has alot of work and no time to work on it, and has been sitting for about a year,
  4. yes i agree, engine swap,body is ok a few dents, , interior good,
  5. went to look at a 97 outback a/t 2.5 , new radiator, new tires, new timing belt, water pump, hg , heads were resurfaced ,the guy said it has a rod knock , i heard it run and yes there is a noise , and not piston slap , i am thinking the valves need adjusting ,am i right or wrong,? 135,000mi on motor.would it hurt anything to drive it away, or drop a 2.2 in it,
  6. thanks, some one told me to unhook the + side of the battery while car is running and this will tell if the alt is ggod or bad, , i think i will use my mm instead
  7. whats the best way to test the alternator ?and what is the proper fuseable link for my 95 legacy
  8. the car was moving when it died, so while i was at work my wife had it towed , [ roll off] everything went crazy , got a new battery [ napa] i put new battery ,nothing, so checked fuses all good, went to check linkable fuses and 1 was burnt and broken, so replaced it with one from a hand full i had from a ea82 motor, now it starts fine everything good, but could alt still be bad? and the linkable fuse i used will it work ok or should it haevier ?my wife made the post , it is a a/t awd 2.2 motor 168,000mi , , she ment to say is that it would not come out of park ,after driving it aleast 10 miles with everything on fan, hi brights, rear drfrost, flashers on, no problems, here is one thing i noticed, the old battery sonded different and possible leaking, one thing that needs replaced now the headlight [ bright side] thanks
  9. dash lights came on then just stopped running. Can not turn key and can't get out of gear. Has an old battery.THANKS
  10. yes 2.2 legacy , . and a very good motor, check records, check axle boots, binding, check all fluids, make sure all tires are the same,yes on the 60k timing belt, i have a 95 , 97 both with the 2.2 engine 168,000mi on both, alot of good help here also
  11. well ran out of time only switched the damaged hatch + new support struts, the cover is not really damaged only side drivers side is down about 1 inch, thanks for all the help
  12. going to replace rear bumper cover and hatch , whats the best way to get to the bolts/ clips on the cover thanks
  13. here is one thing i did is clear all the codes and rechecked it , after a week of driving , the reason was i had so many codes , but the car ran good, i call them ghost codes,
  14. looking under the hood today, i found hoses that were cracked + loose, 168,000mi on it now, thanks
  15. is there a kit for all the hoses or the size of all the hoses , going to change all the hoses
  16. watch the years the code reader will read, i paid like 50 total for mine, ,the code + what it is,
  17. you could go to autozone and get the codes read free , i bought my code reader from ebay , and works great
