  1. Count me in, something else to spend the rest of my free time on.
  2. H-sucks -- Thanks for the comment, I was actually going to try that over the winter. Do you (or anyone else reading this) know if there are any stiffer replacements or just a way to modify the current ones to stuffen the a$$ end up?
  3. http://www.rpi.edu/~golinm/Car%20Stuff/XT/ New Video Posted!!!!!!! Its called 'XT drags from stands' just shy of 10MB. Its just a different view of the previous races I posted. In the first race I get hammered by a dragster (you see the times at the end) but I treed him .016 to an .030-something. Second race I am against a turbo civic hatch with a garbage driver. Note the .048 reaction to his first yellow redlight. ugh. -Matt
  4. I love drag vids. I've got vids from the stands of the couple i had posted on my site. I get absolutely creamed by a mid 7-sec dragster. Its funny. I got him off the line .016 to a .03x
  5. I work for Enterprise RentACar, and we have several Magnums (V6). The seats are like concrete, Visibility stinks (esp. Rear vis. compared to my Legacy wagon, its like looking through a crack), brakes are mediocre and far from feeling linear, and handling stinks. I cant speak for the R/T but besides looking kinda cool on the outside, the Magnum is a garbage mid-life-crisis machine.
  6. Chuck -- Thanks for sending me that video in its 40MB life... still great. I couldnt remember though, what speed did you cross the traps?
  7. EJ22 -- My '90 Legacy has 284K+ hard driven miles on it and its still runs like a champ, I certainly recommend this I had an EA82 n/a carbed wagon and it had no power, i wouldnt recommend that My EA82t '86 XT is a beast. 14.5sec @ 94.8mph
  8. I hope that off-campus people can view this page. http://www.rpi.edu/~golinm/Car%20Stuff/XT/ If it works, XT1 video is me getting handled by a mid 7-sec dragster... by the way I got him off the line .016 to a .03x. XT2 is against a civic bouncing off the rev limiter (and ruining my engine sound), and then red-lighting horribly. He left way early and ran like a 15.1 I think i had a 14.7 and he crossed only like 15 thousands ahead of me. *off to class, work, work for me*
  9. I just tried to add more movies, but I will be above my quota. So I'll try to get them hosted on my college page when Im there tomorrow. Ill post links if it works. Also will scan a couple of timeslips that I have with me.
  10. That may have been, I dont know. I have gotten them both to go, sometimes not. at least if it was only that one, it was on the camera's side.
  11. thanks Kev. I just have a custom downpipe to a Dynomax race bullet muffler. It does sound pretty nasty. I believe on that race, I was against a 7.4 second dragster to my 14.7, so when I get the race part of it posted, it'll be hilarious how bad I get smoked. Although I did R/T him .016 to a .032. Footbrake all the way!!!!
  12. Here is a compressed vid clip of one of my burnouts from a run. I do have a few timeslips in NY with me, so when I am at work monday night Ill scan it and put it up. (I have the 14.58 with me ). Im done messing with video editing for now. Trying to get some luck to go the Red Sox's way. But enjoy that clip xt1 burnout_sm.zip
  13. wow, did I just get called out? lol. **This isnt NASIOC, its all legit** The dozens of timeslips are at my house in MA (Im at college in NY) but as soon as i get them I will post it. I also have video from last time I am editing for size, I have those on my comp, I just need to figure out how to edit. **Edit - My pops put the car up on the lift at the shop today. Looks like the spiders are shot. time to swap the other tranny in for now. And do some other tinkering. The track closes towards the end of Oct, so hopefully I can get one more set on it before winter.
  14. First run, i was on like 13-14 psi of boost. I took my time staging and had it spooled up = great launch. We then went back to the pits to install the new boost controller that i built a while back [and my bro and dad had 'tuned' to 15psi on a pressure tester back at the shop]. So I'm at the starting line and the starter hit the botton quick so I wasnt spooled up (caught a hell of a light though), hence the crap 60' time. Once going I take a look at the boost gauge and its like 23psi, I got a little gunshy and got off it a bit, but then after looking in the mirror and not seeing smoke, I got back into it and ran it out. So if I had it spooled at the start and ran it full out, it would have been a great run. Got back to the pits to fiddle with the boost controller and get it down to a reasonable psi. Did a power brake move to see if the wastegate opened, got to 15psi and started to creep through the brakes, so i let off and I suspect thats where the problem occurred. Because then when i went to head off to the lanes, left turns were about impossible. ((steering wheel took a ton of effort to even move it left, let off wheel and it snapped forcefully back. Although it didnt do it every time i went to turn. We suspect it might be the diff or something in there binding up, either that or a CV issue.)) I decided that I didnt want to chance it on a full out run, so we put it on the trailer and watch some cars run and then i headed out. \ So that was a long a$$ story. Any suggestions on it binding up like that? I do have another tranny to drop in regardless. -Matt
  15. Took it out on the last street night yesterday evening. Got two runs before it broke when we were doing some testing in the pits. Its something in the tranny, like the diff is messed up or something. (we have another one to drop in, so no big deal) #1 r/t = .065 60' = 2.153 (by far the best one Ive had) 1/4 = 14.648 90.68 mph #2 r/t = .007 (yes sir, although I wasnt spooled enough and the launch suffered) 60' = 2.484 1/4 = 14.870 94.86 mph (best speed)
  16. Took the XT out to the races again today. Consistent, but disappointing. 14.801 14.783 14.736 did nail a .016 light along with .093 and .045. I was there 8 hours and got 3 runs. huge waste of time. there were numerous oil downs, a toyota starlet nearly took out the tree+starter guy+honda civic in the other lane and ended up on its side during its "burnout attempt", and a motorcyclist dumped it at 120mph (he was ok). gonna try for streetnight on Wed. _matt
  17. Chuck --- Forgot to ask before, Do you know how much your car weighs?
  18. Yeah I suffer at the launch -> 60' cause of the auto but further on down it keeps the boost up. Although last time I was only getting like 14psi out of it, when it should been at about 18psi from how it was last year... I gotta play around with my new MBC at get that working right, quit messing with the bleeder. Ive got the 5th tripping at like 13-14. I dont know exactly cause last time out we had it early and then just turned the screw out until i was happy. Didnt check the exact psi on that. Sounds like quite the engine you've got going there. Weve got a T3 sittin around we might work with over winter, but this year we're just gonna fiddle with the current 'stock' setup and see what it'll do. I want to get a torque converter modified, and maybe do some headwork. Ive got a lot of irons in the fire right now with school and working and stuff so no major projects until winter.
  19. Well my bother decided to head out to street night with his '70 Nova, so my pops went ahead and brought my XT out for a few runs too. He squeezed a 14.6 out of it. I only chatted with him briefly so I dont know the mph or distance breakdowns, but it was good to hear. ((I was at school and working all day so I wasnt able to go)). Im going to go on Sat and beat the hell out of it some more. You guys will be the first to know how it went.
  20. My 60' times were only like 2.2 or something might even be slower than that, I gotta check my books. ((Running through a 2WD auto)) Same issue with it launching like a beast till half track, then it just kind of runs out of steam. Got some ideas for winter to get it back into shape.... I too was wondering if anyone had gotten into the 13's. I'm at 14.5 right now. I have the same issue with the title. My XT was brought down to my dad's shop by another place because they couldnt get it running. They then went out of business soon after and the car stayed with us. Turns out it had 1 snowmobile spark plug in it, quick swap and it worked like a charm.
  21. Ive got a Dynomax Race Bullet muffler on my xt, it sounds awesome... although its not a street car, if it was Joe Cop would be all over it. Long story short, I recommend Dynomax or Magnaflow
  22. it was like $15 .... I basically bought it as a goof, as it was obviously not high tech, but Im actually kinda happy with it.
  23. So i got a cheeseball Front Strut Tower Bar from eBay for a 93+ GC8, and put it on the wagon today. It fit like a glove. The surprising thing is i can actually notice a difference in the handling of the car. Response is quicker, although the little bumps seem to hit a bit harder.
  24. If i recall, there was some cat who put a V8 into an XT. Final Verdict: It handled miserably and it wasnt safe above 30mph. Mid engine in a wagon would be rad.
  25. Yeah last year I took out some kid in a 5.0 twice in a row, and he had been staging with his rear tires cause he didnt know what he was doing. I look over like, wtf, and the xmas tree guy is like 'whatever just go with it' and chuckling a little. Anyways, New tubing is the next step I had planned. Along with a new coil and some other random things. Hopefully a bigger turbo, torque converter, maybe some head work during the winter. -matt
