Well I have put in a bid of $4000 for the GFT. Just waiting to hear back. Fingers crossed and I might get it.
-
I would love to buy it, just don't have the cash .

Don't worry not many people over here have seen one either. My father owned one in 75. I have been looking for this one for about four years now as I knew it existed but couldn't track it down. And it is the only one on the road in NZ just like our GSR. To have two rare subies would be nice but I guess one will have to do for now.

This is a photo of a 1974 GFT for sale in NZ for $5000nz. Been in the same family for 20yrs and now they are moving overseas and need to sell it. I would love to buy it.

how to tell an 1800 ea81 from an ea71?
subGSR replied to Rockman's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
this is Best answer to solve your question and is very correct. -
We have a stripped spark plug hole and are having a heli coil put in. I have another head but it will be a pain in the but to have to change them. Do heli coils last or is it a temperary fix only.

What is the attraction that people go for in Sub's.We get a TV programe over here called TOP GEAR made in the UK. They test all tyes of cars and tell you the good and bad about them. They put a Sub STI against a Mitsi EVO and at the end of the test could not set them apart, and yet when the presenters were asked which car they would pick they both went for the STI!!.What do you think it is about Subs that make them so popular.

Sent info to you did you get it. Computer crashed not sure if you got it.

Yeh its the blue one. Look in the photo gallery under subgsr and you will see the 1972 GSR coupe. Very rare. And as for the split gate wagon ,I would love to see one as they didn't come to NZ.

Just wanting opinions on the offer I have had for the GSR. A dealer or agent who has a client in europe, or so he says has offered $9000us which is about $16000nz for the car. Not sure if its genuine or a hoax, but they have been very persistant and annoying e mailing me for about a week now. I have told them no deal and no more corrospondence. But what do you think of the price if it is genuine. Your comments appreciated. Thanks Kevin

Does anyone have info on this car?
subGSR replied to carfreak85's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I would almost be certain that it is in Australia taking part in the aussie touring car champs in the early 80s.The hose sticking out the drivers window was a trade mark of the aussie racing scene. All the writing is in english on the car and the paint work is of the early 80s era in aussie. (could be wrong though) -

Here in NZ we had 4wd sedans that were manual in the ea81 models and then also manual in the ea82 4wd turbo leone model with high and low ratio.

I think you will find with the new technology of today that it would not be that hard to bring the brat or any other older car to todays safety standards and not at a huge cost. I am in no dillusions as to the outcome of my letter but hey no harm in asking. As for the popularity of a 2nd generation brat(not the first model) I believe it would be extremely popular world wide and would fill a gap in the Subaru line up. They may even decide to go back to the drawing board and design a completely new brat that can do the same as the old one but not rust out. As for the price, I don't know where you got 100,000 from it would have to be gold plated for that price. Anyway just doing my thing letting Subaru and other people know how I feel about SUBs and there's no harm in that. I say think positive and things can happen.

The idea here guys is to remain positive not negative. In fact Nissan reproduced an early 60s bluebird in the mid 90s as an example. As for the safety issues it would not be difficult to put in side intrusion bars and air bags if they were made from new again. Hey I know its a long shot but if you dont ask you'll never know the answer. As for the Baja its a totally different type of vehicle to the brat and I dont think you can put them in the same catagory, especially when the brat was a hit for Subaru and still is today. No more negative thoughts only positive ones and think it just could be posible and it might happen. If they got heaps of letters on this subject who knows what may do .(Have faith)

Here is the address. Fuji Heavy Industries Subaru building, 7-2 Nishi-shinjuku 1-chome shinjuku-ku Tokyo 160-8316 Japan. If they get heaps of requests who knows what they might do.

I have taken a shot in the dark and written a letter to FHI requesting that they resume making parts for the brat. Explaining to them how popular it still is and that there would be a market. I then just kept writing and suggested to them to reintroduce the brat in there model line up. I stated that even today it would be very popular in the US,AUS,NZ just to name a few. I also sent a photo shop work of art by baccaruda of a twin cab Brat with double T tops just to get them interested. Will keep you posted if I hear back. But as with alot of big corporations they will most likely throw the letter in the bin.(hope not)

just saw a 1970 360 on ebay current bid $1
subGSR replied to 1979BratOwner's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Just a we bit confused. According to the offical FHI site the 360 was released in march 1958 and yet it is shown in the brochure section 68 to 69. It is also hard to believe that the 360 was produced for twelve years. Can anyone enlighten me on how long it was produced. As far as I know it was the FF1 that was made prior to the early 70s. I did look on Ebay and sure enough it does say 1970 360, but is this correct? -
Just sat down to watch a movie with Emilo Estervez and his car broke down then his girl friend (Demi Moore) turns up in a 1978 DL wagon. They rob banks and the we subie is there get away car. Just turned around to look at a scene and they were making use of the back if you know what I mean. The movie is called Wisdom!Worth a look.
