Y'all have collected a lot of photos over the years of some cool Subarus. This will be a spot to mash them all together.
Amassed quite a few pictures over the years myself, some of them are from people on this board, others from the internet or from car shows.
If you see your car posted, speak up and share more pictures. :D
Think your car meets "Awesome" standards? Post it up.

    Ill start us off:

I will continue to empty out my hard-drive here. :drunk:
    Let the awesome begin.

  2. And yet i still dont know what you are really talking about :(

Fox is saying you can make some power changes with stuff thats more easy to get your hands on. EA82T's are notorious for problems anyway. You can easily make just as much horsepower with a weber carb upgrade to your car.

I did not know that spfi blocks have more compression... I will look into that when I rebuild my wagon.

  3. How did it go at Napa or Oreilley's, for that heater valve?

    Just curious.

To be honest, I still haven't looked. :o

After noticing that it leaked only when switched to cold, I put a heat lamp in the car with the doors open to dry out the carpet. I figured this way I could at least notice how fast it was leaking.

So far the carpet has remained completely dry since drying it.

The problem kinda slipped my mind

Is it a part that is no longer produced by Subaru or aftermarket companies?

  4. sort of....problem is, the EA81 and EA82 body styles overlapped for a few years. The EA82 versions are referred to as a coupe, and the EA81 version is referred to as a hatch

When you say "hatchback", we think of this:

    1986_Subaru_GL_Hatchback._-_2-ucc.jpg

    Ahhhh. I see :drunk:

I guess it would have helped if I had put the body style (ea82) in there... or just put the picture of the car when I first mentioned it. My bad for confusing everyone. :-p

  5. Sounds like the best fix would be to go to the Pick n Pull and snag some better condition EA82 light assemblies. Or maybe just the reflectors, if you can polish off the lenses on yours. But might as well get the whole set. :-p

What state are you in? Are the EA82's getting harder to find there?

  6. i was referring to the 3-door coupe.

    IMG_0256.JPG

Same thing I was talking about

3 door coupe, 2 door hatchback.

    ketchup, katsup.

    Hehe

Thank you for the insight on the window being different between '85 and '86 & up mirror styles. Not planning on swapping them out right now, only if it comes to it. Such as if I break a mirror somehow. But if/when that time comes, I wont have that come as a suprise. :D

  7. Opus, are you saying you don't like the lights because they are fogged up?

What I have done before is I took the lens assemblies inside the house so that they could dry out. After putting them back on the car I didn't notice them fogging up again.

If it is a seal issue, couldn't you reseal the lenses?

I put new spark plugs and wires in. :burnout:
I'm waiting on the disty cap & rotor that are coming in from the Subaru dealer.
I also have a new Duralast (Wells) coil to put in, but I am going to look for leaks tonight in my original one to see if it even needs replacement.
Quite a bit of the hesitation is gone :brow:
    And some eye-candy:

    Old NGK wires:

    New Bosch wires:

And I couldn't help but take a picture through my (dirty) window. :D

  9. Well I feel dumb now :D

Lol I had these '85 and '86 Sube ads this whole time and didn't see the difference. You can see that all the '85s have the mirrors like the parts doors I have and the '86s look just like the ones on my '86.

This is making me want to fix up the ea82 :brow:

Just have to finish the brat first :-p

  10. I got these doors from a guy for free a few months back.

He had parted out his ea82 and still had quite a bit of spare parts kicking around.

I noticed that the side mirrors were different than those of most ea82's one usually sees.

    312100_301953193155242_100000216909175_1468166_1647558285_n.jpg

As you can see, they have the style of the ea82, but are attatched at the door like an ea81. They have power going to them, so they are the electrically adjusted type.

The only other place I have seen these mirrors before is on this brochure I found online:

    320198_301953043155257_100000216909175_1468163_652669736_n.jpg

And here are the mirrors on my '86 wagon for comparison:

    295765_301953279821900_100000216909175_1468168_1717352963_n.jpg

So what do you guys think?

"rare" find? Or just an early design during transition?

  11. hi, the coil should match whatever brand distributor you have , either nippondenso or hitachi , no telling what duralast has conjured up. in my humble opinion autozone is the last place you should be shopping, i've had very good luck finding parts online from some ebay vendors, especially check out rock auto , and some from guys here selling parts no longer needed . the filters are pretty common , the cap, rotor and wires are common, i've bought wire sets under $10 that fit ea82 motors from rock auto , autozone is a space cadet zone as far as old subarus are concerned.

Thank you for your reply. I have a nippondenso disty. The coil coming in will match. :)

The cap and rotor they tried to give me was for a hitachi, even though they said it would "work either way"

I will look into rock auto for some filters.

  12. So I ordered some parts today :brow:

I bought some NGK v-power plugs, a Duralast cap, & Duralast rotor from autozone. The cap and rotor are wrong, so I will be taking those back.

I had to special order some Bosch wires from them, and a Duralast ignition coil is on its way as well.

From Subaru I ordered (hopefully) the correct distributor cap and rotor.

I also tried to find both the front and rear fuel filter from them, but they say it is a discontinued part. :banghead:

Where do you guys get your fuel filters from??

I'm going to wait on the egr valve, see if these changes I'm making make the difference in performance.

  13. I Think I found a filter by the tank on my '87 the other day. Haven't tried to change it yet, so not positive. Fuel pump and filter in front of drivers side rear wheel.

    Bill

Lol right after asking the question of the two fuel filters I went and crawled under the car to look. Right in front of the gas tank on the drivers side, looks just like the one in the engine compartment.

  14. Nobody else caring to share? :-p

Thank you Turbone and LeoneTurbo for your imput, I will look into fuel filters and look into the carb as well.

At this point I'm just wondering if there are any trade off's between engine years, or if everything will be the same when I order parts. Such as: will an '82 egr be better than an '85? Or vis-versa?
