  1. Hi all, i am glad to back as a member of the subaru community. this morning i just picked up a very clean 1984 subaru turbo coupe with 84k original miles for only.. wait for it.. 700$ from the junkyard . it had been sitting in a garage for 6 years. i beleive the engine is and EA81T. it is in amazing shape. no rust!! the gas is bad, and it will only run for five seconds and shuts off. so i will be working on draining the tank and refilling with new gas and a new filter. anyway i am glad to be back! will post picturess as soon as possible,
  2. I had thought of that. I had thought of boring the tb and porting intake mani to even the air flow out but with the injector and such in the tb i dont know if its possible with that. I want more hp out of her. And i cant find any ea82t engines to swap nor am i familiar with that engine. I know these arent powerplants but i wana keep my scoob and have more power too haha. Any more suggestions or alternatives would be awesome. Thanks guys.
  3. Well would i have to upgrade any internals or tune anything. I just want to be sure lol and what kind of gains have you or anyone seen from this? Thank for the reply!
  4. wanting to get the heads ported on my 1990 tbi loyale and get a cam grind. I have someone that can do it for free cuz they owe me, just wanting to know if anyone knows what ill have to change if i do it, im wanting a cam grind too. Lil soob was my first ride. just wana beef her up. Thanks for any suggestions or advice.
  5. Man I love this forum! Lol people actualy reply with help instead of leavin me hangin, I was lucky to find an alt in stock, by the time I got home the battery was almost boiling. Took me five mintes to swap in. Now the car runs even better than before and there's something shiny under the hood to look at haha:grin: thanks for the help!
  6. Got a 1990 loyale sohc tbi been runnin great for along time. Started her up and heard a weird vibrating buzzing noise with slight vibration, volt gauge in dash goes up with rpms. At 3k rpm its hitting the top at 18 volts. Heater revs up with motor. Battery tested fine. I'm thinking the alt? Its always been a bit squeaky cause the bearing but some input would be sweet. Thanks.
  7. Hi, Got a 1987 gl wagon, stock carb, shuts off randomly and wont start back up, it cranks forever but nothing, it will start bareley with starting fluid then dies, got under the car and rapped on the fuel pump, started up, now wont start again, dunno if it was just coincidence or not. lol recently did plugs disty cap n rotor, and fuel filter, thanks for any replies.
  8. Bennie that is a beautiful scoob, i have to ask, where did you get those rims? i need a pair of those!
  9. painted my wheels on the subie today, snapped a nice pic of her on the hill, also got me a K&N filter.
  10. my 90 loyale would hardly start when the Coolant temputature sensor went bad, when warm or cold, you might wana check it and see if its on its way out, cheers!
  11. Congrats on the wagon:clap: i only payed 300 for my loyale with 159k these cars are cheap, and reliable, enjoy!
  12. Sounds like you may have flooded it, Or you got a fuel filter thats clogged, or if you ran it out of gas it coulda sucked up rust and scale causing it to clog the lines? just a couple suggestions. hope it helped.
  13. Alright thanks! im heading to the dealer today to put in the order, as they never seem to have parts for my scoob in stock. Regards, Matt
  14. Hey everyone, i got a question for y'all today, i went to check my oil today and when i pulled off my oil cap i saw a white milky residue on it, so i cleaned it off, then i checked the breather hoses from the cylinder heads, passenger side, Clean, Drivers side hoses looked like thisi checked the oil on the dipstick and it was not milky, at all, the car does not drink up coolant, none that i can notice, i pulled the drivers side valve cover since that was the side with the milky crap in breather tubes, and it looked like this, pretty clean, and no trace of milky residue couple very small small drops of water were on valve cover this is also the side that the ticking comes from, but everything looked fine to me, so what my question is, does anyone know what caused this milky stuff? if it was a HG i'm sure itd be alot worse right? was it just condensation, or do i have a intake manifold gasket on its way out? im wanting to replace the oil pump sometime soon so id like to resolve this problem first, any input would help me tons, thanks guys.
  15. Alright good to know, I will make the decision once i am in the pick-n-pull, Swapping the connectors doesen't sound too hard, thanks a bunch.
  16. Hey guys, i wanted to know what years of Bumpers (If any) are interchange-able with my loyale, The previous owner ran into something and the bumper is, slanted up on one side, i like the look of the older GL's bumpers but im not sure what fits or if i just have to get another Fat-Lipped loyale bumper:rolleyes: TIA!
  17. Dropped the exhaust and replaced old o2 sensor with a bosch one, got brand new purge control solenoid valve in the mail today and installed it, Check engine light is finally gone.
  18. Might i add if your going to change the thermostat, Or T-stat gasket, Make sure you order them both from the dealer, the aftermarket ones are not reliable, (i know from making the mistake of using the aftermarket ones and they failed soon after). hope this helps.
  19. i had a similar problem with one of my rear tires wearing considerably on the inside, i took it to the alignment shop, they said they could do nothing, it was close to specifications. i had thought, bad bearing, but it was fine, might want to check your suspension, loose trailing arm maybe, all the bushings etc.. mine are slightly worn, i got new tires and decided to live with it, hope this helps.
  20. I recently put fresh gear oil in my 5spd tranny, in my 90 loyale, as soon as it got cold second gear only gets crunchy, im just livin with it:drunk: im sure if you do what these guys suggested it wil resolve the problem, i plan on doing that to mine in the future, Cheers.
  21. There should be a thing on here that tells you what to do with pictures, However if you cant find it, Try using a site to host your pictures, For example Photobucket, you download them, take the image url and post it after you click on the little picture diagram above the message youre writing (looks like a sun and mountains) and post. hope this helped.
  22. I have people look at me like im crazy for doing 6 grand shifts! a couple of my buddys thought i was guna blow my engine shifting from 2nd to third doing 50mph:D
  23. Thanks for the write up! this will help me get the job done, ive only done the water pump so this should be a challenge, i will have help though, once i can get the parts and tools etc.. together i will see what i can do, im looking forward to getting rid of the ticking.. or atleast try, but now i have a chance to get the oil pan gasket done and clean it up a bit down there, Thanks for all of your input!
  24. Okay thankyou! i think i can hold off the Cam towers for now, But i am also unfamiliar with doing the oil pump, i have searched for a write up for that but i was nonsuccessive, It looks like the timing belts have to come off? and i heard you have to jack up the engine or tranny to get the oil pan off, but im not 100% sure, if someone could help me out id appreciate it so i could prepare for the job, also, is an OEM Oil pump required? i am already sure i will get all the gaskets at the dealership, as well as do the oil pan with rtv, And thankyou all for the input;)
