  1. I have racing seats in mine (not STI tho). Very comfortable and works nicely. Thinking of putting some Porsche seats in.
  2. This is off my '86 Brat, and I'm not sure if the carbs were exactly the same, but here's what the screw sorta looks like. It's located under the air filter element (you'll probably have to take it off to access it). Yay for learning. I'm doing the same with my brat, learning little by little. EDIT: at least according to the "how to keep your subaru alive" book I have, '82 - '88 Hitachi carbs have the screw located in the same place, so the pic I posted should be accurate.
  3. welcome! what kind of soob did you choose? would love to see pictures!
  4. So basically the wagon changed in '85 but the brat didn't....but the computers might say it did? Ok, cool thx!
  5. Can you scan the pages ? Thatd be great.
  6. There's more to this question actually.... I went to pep boys and they said they need the serial number off the carb because there are different versions of the Hitachi 2bbl....is this the case or can I just go to any AutoZone/O'Reillys/pep boys...etc. and order one that they say fits any 86 brat. ...I couldn't find a serial number on it anyhow, but I did not take it all the way off..only the filter housing.

Awesome car! I love love love the rims
  8. Gonna clean out my carb on my '86 brat...where's a good place to buy a rebuild kit (hitachi 2bbl)?
  9. She's back up and running now! It didn't initially show it, but after a little investigation it was obvious that the radiator was cracked and leaking. A simple replace (i opted for a brand new rad) and she's on the road again!
  10. New radiator installed in my brat. She runs again and I'm happy!
  11. Orange stuff was in my car when I drained it, so that's what I put back in. I hope it works out.
  12. the spec sheet says the G-05 works for aluminum. Gonna use it.
  13. Just replaced a bad radiator in my '86 Brat (ea81). I did a search on the forum and on google, but can't really find an answer to my question. What type of coolant does an ea81 call for? What was in it previously was orange. Does the color of the coolant really matter? I noticed in past posts that some of you use Prestone brand, but which type? I picked up some Zerex G-05, which said on the bottle it's good for japanese cars older than 1995. Will that do? Thanks in advance guys
  14. There wasn't a hole to swap it into on the new rad. I'm going to have to drill one.
  15. Welcome! What kind of soobies do you have?
  16. I found a nice big leak in my Brat's radiator :/ Poor girl.
  17. Ok I figured it out....and what I thought was the a/c fan ran when I jumped the ground, but now I'm confused as to which fan is which....in the picture below, which one is the radiator fan and which is the a/c fan? The fan on the right in the picture is the one with no power to it according to the test light. The fan on the left in the picture works fine and also came on when I jump grounded the fan switch as well as when the car is idling at operating temp I got her during winter last year, and moved from a cold climate to a hot one before she ever got to experience any hot weather, and I'm wondering if the fan on the right in the picture (the one with no power showing to it) has never been operable since I've had her, and I'm just experiencing the overheating for the first time (and cracked the rad) because of the hot weather here...hmmm. UPDATE : found a big leak in the radiator, dripping water all over the ground while I was letting her idle for the second time today...ok, I guess that's the problem
  18. Hey, thanks for your reply! Sorry to ask, but what do you mean by 'jumper to ground'? I'm new to all of this
