Thanks for all the kind words. I get more people that want to talk to me about my Brat than when I drive my old Corvette. Its funny everyone seems to know someone who had a friend with a Brat back in the day. I love cars with t-tops (fun tops)
  3. My '84 1.8 has solid lifters. It sounds a lot like a sewing machine but not nearly as loud as your video. I would think adjusting the valves would help that engine a bit.
  4. New clean oil will also help a little bit.
  5. Wow. That looks clean. Nice find

Hi, I've been here a while but really haven't posted very much so I thought its about time I throw some pictures of my ride up in this thread. This is my '84 brat I picked up a few years ago for $800. It was black and most of the paint had the primer coming through and there was a fair amount of rust spots scattered around. The right front fender, grill and a corner of the hood were smashed and the brat had minor dings all the way around it. I found a new fender and got a decent hood and grill from a junkyard and proceeded to fix the dents, remove the rust and painted some high quality paint on this thing.I had the wheels sandblasted and painted them black then added some trim rings to them. I got lucky mechanically though as the engine and transmission run pretty much flawless. I did have to replace all the brakes, master cylinder and front axles but really that is about all. This thing will run 80 down the highway all day long!. The interior still needs a little help. It is complete but has a very cracked dash. The seats have small rips on the sides and the carpet has some stains on it but nothing I cant live with right now. Maybe a next summer project. So far I am very happy with the way things are turning out. Greg
  7. Oh yeah...A couple headrest mount pictures Top Bottom
  8. Since there seems to be some interest in this topic I went out and shot a few pictures of the jump seats today that show more mounting detail. Seats Belts And while I'm here just some pictures of my Brat
  9. OK more measurements Inner seat belt bolt holes are 2-1/2" from cab 23-1/2" from either side to center of bolts That should be all of them now....... Greg
  10. "Yes, that helps alot. That locates the outside seat belts. How far from that anchor to the one for the inside belt? thanks," Ooops......Forgot about about the inside belts. I'll look tonight.
  11. The seat belt mounting bolt is: 4-3/8" from cab wall 5-3/8" from side bed wall (these are to bolt centers) same on both sides Hope that helps Greg
  12. This is the stock location for the seats with the factory seat mounts.
  13. On mine the top of the seat is 3 1/2" from the back window. The center of the seat bottom is 15" from the side of the bed.
  14. I don't like spiders and snakes....particularly poisonous ones. I wouldn't even have attempted that there.
  15. Thanks for the offer. I finished painting the exterior a couple years ago and have not been in much of a hurry to finish the inside of the bed. I appreciate the offer but its not really worth the effort if your in the middle of a move. I'll just keep my ears open for something or maybe try to fabricate a patch on my own. If don't figure something else out in the next few months I may hit you up again.
  16. Both rear inner fenders in my '84 brat need replaced or repaired. Does anyone have a source for these? I've been keeping my eyes out for some but haven't had much luck. Greg
  17. I wasn't talking about the trim itself. I mean the little plastic blocks that go under the trim that the trim screws to.
  18. I bought a new set from subaru about 3 years ago when I redid mine. They could still order them then. Greg.
  19. My Brat when I got it After body work and paint Finished
