What gearbox is this?
Noticed that when I first saw the ad. The engine was probably toasted and someone then used the bellhousing to hold the flywheel in with the gearbox

What gearbox is this?
Thanks for your help Didn't think it could be EA81 stuff. We got the Brat new from the dealers up to 1992 or 93, so the parts is most likely from a Brat. I want to swap the sad 3AT i my 87 sedan with a dual range, but those aren't easy to find over here.

What gearbox is this?
Came across an ad for a complete drive train for an older Subaru. The seller isn't sure witch model it came from but says he thinks that it's from an 88 model Leone, probably sedan or wagon. But could anyone identify the gerbox? Dual range or pushbutton?

Handbrake issue EA82
After going through the exploded illustrations in the Haynes manual it seems to me that the caliper would need a rebuild. So a new used caliper is ordered and on its way I actually found a working caliper in my parts stash, but it was a left side one of course. But i will be replacing that one too because of the bad lever return spring

Handbrake issue EA82
Thank you for your reply I did the front brakes with new pads and rotors 1000kms ago, and have been using the handbrake regularly since then. Since the car is an automatic I've never really noticed that the handbrake wasn't functioning properly. I suspect that the internal adjusting mechanism is stuck and I have to find another caliper.

Handbrake issue EA82
My 87 EA82 Sedan didn't pass inspection partly because of a poor handbrake on the right wheel. I looked into it today and the handbrake lever on the caliper would travel freely with no effect on the piston until it almost hit the cable bracket. Then the piston would move slightly. I screwed the piston in several times but with no luck. Is there a way to set the tension on the mechanism in the caliper? Seems like it has some sort of internal play that is taken up by the movement of the lever. Also both calipers wont return the lever properly when disengaging the handbrake, but the right one is slightly worse.

Mystery vacuum valve (Euro EA82)
Hello everyone! My 87 GL has this thing i believe is some sort of regulating valve connected to the carb bowl vent (?) and intake manifold vacuum. It also has a third hose going from the underside that isn't connected to anything. So my question is what purpose it has and should the third be connected to something?

Australian side corner lights EA82
Yes They are factory installed, and I think every subie here came with them. Theyre pretty powerful too, sprays a little bit on my windshield as well

Australian side corner lights EA82
We have them here in Europe too. 85-86 models had solid orange glass in the turn signal part of the lamp, and later models had the ones pictured above were only the raised part of the glass is orange. Pre 87 models:

Strange hot EA82 behavior
My carbed -85 did also run away at idle if I was in a traffic jam in the summer heat. It would also go down if i tapped the accelerator, or pulled the pedal back. I ended up stiffening up the spring on the throttle arm, and slacken the cable a tiny bit. Now it idles fine even if the motor temp goes up. My electric fan kicks on at about 55% up the scale

What does it cost you to run your car where you are?
Because the Norwegian Krone is strong in the international market, I think I will have the highest cost of running my 85 GL recalculated i USD About 1500$ for insurance a year About 480$ in taxes a year About 100$ for inspection every second year Gas is about 2.5$ a litre

The Awesome Older Generation Picture Thread
I think all countries of europe got those tail lights, but i noticed the reverse light is on opposite sides depending if your'e driving LHD or RHD. The opposite red light is a rear fog light. The upper light is running/stop lamp, and between the turn signal and the running light, is a reflex lamp. Here's a picture from a sales ad from Norway

1986 Subaru Brat Norway
Beautiful Brat! It definitely looks like one of the best preserved Brats in our country. 86 is also the first year commercial vehicles could be registered on green plates My 85 EA82 GL Sedan (Also from Norway) has the manual pre-heat selector, i haven't seen an EA82 here with the automatic control.

I've got a brain teaser for you.

The Awesome Older Generation Picture Thread
EA81's are quite rare over here, haven't seen a single one on the road for the last 5-6 years. BTW this picture was taken by a member of the norwegian BMW forum, so if I were there, I would have taken some detailed pictures, and asked the owner about the car/trailer

EA82 carb sticky throttle
I think i solved my problem:D I wasn't aware of the little pcv-filter. It was all clogged up and dirty. I washed it in petrol and then dishwashing soap and water, and it became clean again. It's only temporarily, I will buy a new one;) Now it revvs fine, and doesn't stick on the way down in rpm. I took out the pcv-valve too, and it has a slightly sticyness to it. But when i shake it, it moves fine. Is this normal, or should I change it? Thanks for all your help!

EA82 carb sticky throttle
OK. Thank you I found out that I only have a single port vac advance unit. I'm in the process of ordering a new one. But i still haven't found the source of my problem. I have read a little, and it's a few other things i want to check. Getting closer:D
