Weird switch question
coloradosubarules replied to shqipo's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXMaybe the switch was for a stereo component, neons, things of that nature... Also check the intake tube for holes that might have been filled in. This would be an indication of the use of a "dry" NOS system. Unless they were running a cold air intake and took it off before trading in the car. Just be sure the wire is propery terminated if not being used to avoid an electrical fire. Best thing you can do it just follow the wires coming off the switch untill you hit paydirt..

Which AWD system, MT or Auto?
Yeah the 5MT's will smoke a 4EAT anyday. A friend of mine had a 94 and that thing was badass!!

Which AWD system, MT or Auto?
A while ago there was a post on the off-topic board about how fast we have had our Subarus. I peronally have burried the needle on my 90 legacy wagon but there was a fellow that chimed in and said his 5MT equiped legacy wouldn't go that fast no matter how hard he pushed it. After he said that there were a few other people to say the same thing. It has something to do with the final gear ratio. I am almost 100% that Josh will back me up on this. I love going fast in the Roo, it's like driving a german luxury sedan on the autobahn. There is no noises, no vibrations, and it shifts lanes like it is on rails.

Which AWD system, MT or Auto?
If the auto trannys are the same quality now as they were in the early 90's....then I would go with the 5MT. You also have to think...do you want to shift all the time? Better fuel economy with a stick. Limited MPH (top speed) with stick. Less parts to break with a stick. .....etc. Hope this helps.

90 Auto Legacy with stuck key
coloradosubarules replied to Jeffk's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI used to have a camaro where the keys would fall out of the ignition all the time. After a while I could start the car without the keys. I had to get rid of that car because a radiator fan (metal) broke off and sliced through every hose in my car (really) and a BIG F'n wire harness. Then I had my 88 Jeep Cherokee that I couldn't get the key out of the ignition no matter what I did. I had to take a hammer to the steering column to get to the push rod that controlled the ignition. Tell the women to take all that crap off their rear-view mirrors and keychains.

overheating and no cabin heat
T-stats are pretty cheap. Don't test one and then re-install it just to save a buck. It is just cheap insurance to put a new Subaru t-stat in. Process of elimination.....

Legacy won't start anymore when it was running only for a mile
coloradosubarules replied to Inday's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI had a problem similar to this in on a previous vehicle. When the starter was first warmed up it wouldn't crank due to bad bushings. Replaced starter and problem was fixed. Notice he doesn't say that it turns over but will not fire. Maybe someone should ask before jumping to conclusions. So....Does the engine turn over (crank)????

Should I Go To midas or 15min Oil change Places?
I use the ramps so I can put a container with a funnel attached to it. I do a few oil changes for people so I only visit the parts store once a month.

sube wheels
NOPE!! the 90 legacy uses a 5x100 bolt pattern. The SVX and WRX use a 5x114 bolt pattern. All other newer gen roo wheels will fit. Just check the backspacing first.

roof rack for 90 Legacy wagon
I have a 90 legacy wagon with the rack and I am pretty sure it is really bolted to the roof. I was thinking about taking it off to paint it but then when I started looking at it more and more I realized just how well that thing is on there. I think Yakama makes a rack that will attach to your car with little to no drilling. Yes I am aware that you do not have drip rails.

changing fenders on the 90 legacy tonight...help
I never thought to turn the wheel to full lock. I will try that tommorow morning. This also means I can park my fanny on the ground and relax. Doctor say "I have to take it easy." I can't tell you how easy it is and how much it sucks!! I'm used to pulling engines and hanging my kids upside down and spinning them around. I just hope they find the cause and fix it quick. I wish this apon nobody!! Not even my worst enemy! Thanks again guys. I will try again tommorow...now that I now I can.
