  1. My buddy just called and stated he found a 78 4x4 wagon and that he bought it and it leaks/sprays coolant from behind the carburetor. Any ideas as to why and what gasket that would be? Did he buy something that's pretty much toast? Should I buy it off him for parts? Thanks for your time!
  2. Someone really ought to buy this beauty before the racerboys that run this Facebook page buy it and slam the thing, they mentioned it in the comments. Wish I had the cash, I'd go get it myself with my 78 4x4.
  3. Thanks. I'll have to pull it apart and see. We did buy the vehicle from grandpa and was rather dirty around the console.
  4. My 1998 Legacy Outback fails to release my key after I've come to a complete stop, but it in park and switched off the car. The tumbler will rotate to just before the lock position but then stop. If anyone has any ideas as to why this would happen, I'd appreciate to hear them.
  5. Thanks a bunch. I got them from a dealer in Japan. http://m.ebay.com/sch/crosssea222/m.html?_pgn=1&isRefine=true I'll be buying more as finances allow.
  6. I snagged all three current BRAT models from Hot Wheels recently and they've slated to release the BRAT in the mainline series that consumes most of the pegs in your Hot Wheels section, so be on the lookout for variation number four. Also wanted to share some literal 1:64th scale models from Tomica that I have as well. Hot Wheels is close to 1:64 scale but these are spot on and highly detailed. Along with that they're in factory form without the Hot Wheels treatment. Enjoy.
  7. Thanks for the heads up about the spring attaching to the transmission Moosens. Whoever replaced the clutch before about the car had that spring somewhere else. Now that I've moved it to the proper location it feels brand-new.
  8. In the 2.75 years I've had my 1978 GL, I've had the great privilege of replacing the clutch cable 7 times. It's broken in a variety of places and I've been able to figure out only a couple of the reasons as to why it broke there. The one that plagues me the most is what's pictured, where the housing support ring shears off and no longer retains the housing causing a lack of enough tension to apply the clutch. I don't know if this is a crummy part from O'Reiley and that's why it has a one year warranty or if I'm installing it incorrectly, because I'm not entirely sure what the rubber flap with the bolt is for and never attach it. Thanks for your time.
  9. Sorry for such a delay, but I happened to have looked around and I happened to take a look at the timing belt for a bit while it was running. One of the pulleys on the passenger side is no longer attached to the block, and I could see that because the ends of the belt cover are off. So with the idea that the passenger side might be off due to a timing issue would the tensioner missing cause that issue?
  10. Transmission is great, there's a good dent in the front quarter panel that took out a parking light but no rust anywhere.
  11. I have a 91 Loyale that currently has 3/4ths of a functioning engine in it. One of the pistons has collapsed according to my mechanic and it certainly sounds as if it does. The motor does run, it will move on its own power, I've done 35mph with it in town with out anything other than the obvious check engine light turning on as I took it home from the mechanic. I recently had a fellow offer to buy it off me, and I figured 500 was a fair price but of course he didn't agree, and that's fine, but I am curious as to what you guys would sell it for if it were yours, and on the flip side, what would you pay for it if you were looking at buying it?
  12. Is GL synonymous for GF on all the part shop websites?
  13. Does anyone have a diagram of the wiring harness for the headlights on a quad-light 4x4 wagon? I drove it to work one afternoon, the lights worked and after work that night, they no longer worked. No sputtering in or out, no fuses popped, but for some odd reason they've stopped working. We pulled the switch and checked it and it seemed to be working fine. Any thoughts and ideas are appreciated, thanks folks.
  14. Moosens, are these lenses that you have a possibility for a 78? My passenger lens was superglued together and it gave up being one piece tonight, I can reglue it but that's temporary, if you've got one I would gladly purchase one from you, or if you happen to know who else might have one.
  15. http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/bar/3960772449.html Got an email from a guy on my Pinterest(yeah....) about this now up for sale, or trade, so any of you fellas out there with an RV sitting around can get yourself this beauty.
  16. Have any of you ever changed the U-Joints on your 4x4 systems before? One of them is rattling quite badly when it's engaged and I'd like to have it fixed prior to the weather going snowy and I may need the 4x4.
  17. Hey Bonvo, do you still have that later '71 air intake? Someone, prior to my ownership decided that there wasn't enough air getting in and they decided to perforate the outer housing and it looks similar to a cheese grater...
  18. Where, perchance, did you obtain the blown up schematic for the transmission? My fourth gear is gone and I have another transmission that I can make them one. Good luck, and keep posting, I'm quite interested.
  19. Thanks guy's. We'll get some video and such to see if your finely tuned ears can find anything this fellow won't tell. I figured you'd all know about these newer models, I've got a '78 wagon I know pretty well, but I'm a little out of my territory.
  20. Hey, my buddy and i are looking at getting into rally here in the future and would like to get a good starting point for that, now this fellow says that there is an exhaust issue that causes a lack of movement, which sounds odd. Either way, let me know what you think, we'd like to be able to drive it home and drive it till the 1.8 dies and replace it with a 2.2 or a 2.5. Here's the link. http://eastidaho.craigslist.org/cto/3868283402.html
