  1. I think I have spotted your SVX a couple times traveling around that way... I am just North of you in CT..Have an XT6 and an 08 Impreza 5 door..and an 83 GL-10 Coupe coming in about a month. I sware I saw you when I was coming back from Florida. Welcome aboard!
  2. I was just talking to Briggers about an hour ago..Poor kid is having the nightmare trip to Texas. 6 hours in planes 18 hours in airports and he was finally getting on his final flight...Just going from Seattle to Texas... I am keeping my fingers crossed that I dont encounter anything like that on my trip. Its going to be hard enough traveling alone let alone having issues like that.
  3.:lol: This kinda talk is gonna have people wondering.....Let them wonder Check your email!!!
  4. Rut Roh! This doesnt sound good...Where you hung up at?? Just cause you are a foot taller then the rest of us doesnt mean squat..always remember...Youth and talent are nothing compaired to age and treachery:grin::-p;) I have a camera and I am not afraid to use it. This is going to be an interesting adventure thats for sure...should make for some...unique stories :lol:
  5. I would be probably freaking out about the car but I know its in good hands and those close to it talk to it ( or at least they tell me they do:lol: ). The time I am going to be the basket case is the 2 weeks it is on the truck..but DAS has real time tracking so you know what I will be watching. If it was a 4WD one I would think about going pugs ..but since its FWD and ...like Steve mentioned..it already ha nice alloys that do look good on the car. I am going to keep him looking stock. I am more excited about finally getting to see the west coast..since I have never been further west than Indianapolis. Getting to see Rob and the stuff I hear so much about...and meeting Briggs and others. That reminds me..I have to call Rob and see if he looked at the steering and stuff so I can order parts ( been sick for 2 days and just remembered this morning I have a lap top now )
  6. Will you just go to Texas Little One:-p;) I know why Rob wants to get your car done before I get there... Dont think he wants to put up with the 2 of us teasin each other..Be like putting up with 4 kids
  7. Just heard on the news..plane ticket fairs going up at least $50 R/T ...glad I bought mine so far in advance. The things you do when you are home sick...sit up all night watching the news:-\
  8. And it took me having to tell you about this via text message tonight/this morning..whatever it is to us night shifters.. But I still want to spend some time with my Briggers too. Pics!!! Cause I can only imagine...
  9. That would be good for me..then my 08 would be on the low mileage thing instead of the high ( 10K miles in 4 months )
  10. We all have yet to see an 09 Impreza cause they havent been released yet..still working on the 08s;)
  11. Yup and we all know I am about as anal as they get....Just you wait young-un:-p ( HAHAHA I just thought of something..you know how good I am at bringing out the worst in everyone ..Be prepared and be scared)
  12. For cleaning the carpet ( I used to own an auto detail shop BTW ) Simple Green and Tide..hot water..and a scrub brush.. The Simple Green will help get the grease out ..and the Tide..well..think about your clothes. I did mine for my XT6 in the back yard with a pressure washer and a shop vac. A little trick to help it from getting too stiff while it dries..use liguid Fabric softner..will also help it smell fresh I hung mine over the picnic benches..soaked it with a bucket or 2 of HOT water..then sprayed the greasy stained spots with the simple green..let it soak while I mixed another bucket of hot water with the laundry detergent. Then scrubbed the carpet using a stiff plastic brush..dipping frequently in the bucket. Took the pressure washer and then rinsed ( no it did not blow the insulation off the back) ..rinsed and repeat...then I mixed another bucket of cold water with fabric softner..and re-soaked the carpet..Let sit for a few minutes then sucked as muuch moisture out of the carpet as possible...then hung to dry the rest of the way...Once completely dry I took the brush ( clean and dry) and brushed the nap back. Turns out looking like new
  13. Since I am not familiar with you a whole lot and since you know nothing about the adventures of the XT6 I am letting that slide...But I despise football so there is no way..But I am a PA native and have always been anti-steelers. And its a pissed off hornet..not a fluffy bumblebee;) The roof rack set up is made to accept a few different add ons..bike carrier, snowboard, kayake ..The basket ( which I so want ) is just cool. I have plans to make mine more of a utilitarian vehicle..over a grocery go getter...but most of it may have to wait till its paid for.
  14. What everyone else said...and Miles touched base alittle..but if you go with the AWD( which should actually be 4WD) you would have to change out the rear trailing arms and hubs. The FWD rear hubs are smaller then the 4WD..so you need the trailing arms from the 4WD to allow for the larger diameter axles to pass throw the hubs I second the notion of the 3AT being a boat anchor but the 4EAT is way better..better acceleartion and its a more dependable tranny...But me personally would keep it a 5 spd..better gas mileage..unless there are personal reasons for going with an AT
  15. You know Psyko is a stubborn poopiehead at times ..It took me 2 days of hounding him on the phone all night at work..and giving him such a fitting new nickname to get him to call you. Anyway..you are the planning committee
  16. But you have to admit..you enjoyed driving it;) You will have to take him for a spin after the new parts are in..and see the difference. I dont think any vouching is needed..I have known that about you for awhile:lol:..(example..Dance of the Sugarplum Subarus:rolleyes::-p) But thats why I luv ya so much Lil Bro. But this one is only a poor little FWD that needed a loving caring home where it will be cherished, pampered, and loved. You need a 4WD one that has some ruggedness to it. I can not wait to see the finished project..:slobber: gotta love the coupes! Estimated date of arrival for the little blue one to CT...April 26th..will arrive in Hartford and have a 50 mile journey home to my garage. Then a trip down the road to my detail guys. I am glad I paid as far in advance as I did for the shipping the way the prices are rising on everything
  17. My whole point is..at least once a day there is another mention of how ugly they are,,woohoo..its ugly..so is the 2007,so is the Tribeca..basically..so is about everything Subaru ever made..But after almost a year its just old. I am working on doing an off-road look mod to mine once I find someone who is either close enough to use mine for a model for fittings..or something. I went with the roof rack cause it makes the car appear to be more of a wagon then a hatch.. The design is so it can be removed in under 2 minutes ( used the Tribeca idea) I want to get the cargo basket and mount some lights ..along with a small bull bar also with lights. Now I agree that the Topaz Gold ...is not the most appealing color..but the OBS in Spark Silver is actually really nice..and the black doesnt look bad either. My neighbor 2 weeks after I bought mine ..got a OBS in Newport Blue and also..isnt too bad. Anyway...here ya go..flame away:popcorn:
  18. 25 more days!!!! I dont know if Turbone has/is arranging any kind of MnG but I do know some plans changed..Looks like we will be doing a head gasket replacement on Psykos XT-T Anyway.. 25 more days till West Coast time
  19. Hey Audio_file....Being probably the most sensitive member of the board..I really didnt see anything anyone said to be upsetting..The whole EJ thing is all what people are looking to do with the car. What I mean is ( I have a pretty good classic muscle car background) If you want to keep your numbers matching..then you stay stock..but if it really doesnt matter..but you like the look or have a sentimental attachment..but just really want to improve...then you do just that. IE My 83 GL-10 coupe..is going to be restored so numbers match...except when I can get everything together I am getting rid of the Hitcrappy and going weber. There will be no 4WD swaps..because in these parts..that car is a rare little gem.( but not on the other coast). Now say I had something with the EA82T ..with what I now know about thm..and this car was a DD and I need to depend on it..The first time those head gaskets go..its EJ time..But if I was just going for a restore and keep for showing ..then it would be kept original. I know how tired I got waiting for parts for my daily runners..a week wait just for plug wires. Now me personally ..I am not a fan of the looks of the early Legos for example..but the motor is bullet proof..I like the looks of the EA82 wagons better..the perfect car IMO would be an EA82 wagon with the EJ power plant..Its all just personal preference. I think the reason many suggest it ...is cause they have gotten the swap mastered and its documented on the board...and the majority asking the questions are looking to keep their DD dependable and its just second nature for us to suggest EJ swap..Or we get people wanting to get ( like mentioned) more power out of something..that can't just be done cause of the design of the motor.
  20. Thank GD!!! I will probably be ordering that once I get word back that its what mine needs
  21. Since my coupe is basically going to be getting a full on restoration ( since its actually a perfect specimen for this..good to great shape..but still needing things) I can't go wrong with the new bits:) It just kinda sucks being out there right now cause I can't just "run out and take a look" at things. I am just wanting to have it so its can make a 600 mile round trip journey a couple weeks after it gets to this side of the country...somewhat comfortably ( for a 25 y/o car;)) I was thinking the same thing about the ball joints and tie rods..since..I am told there is some play in the steering. I am having the bushings looked at too. I am just so happy that I am getting another of my favorite Subarus...Plus I might end up driving it more over the summer months this year with the gas prices the way they are..that little FWD EA81 has to do better then the new one...plus I have 10K miles on the new one already:eek:. I was also told it has been fitted with a full sized spare with matching rim ( oh its the little things:grin:) the next 3 and a half weeks are going to drag....then the 2 weeks it is in the hands of DAS. I have also been talking to my local all around car show people and they are actually going to welcome this car to thier shows ( they didnt want the XT6 there cause of certain reasons) So it looks like the little Blue one is going to have a following here.
  22. Since my reports from the driver of my coupe said he thought the suspension felt bad..like dangerously bad..I today ordered all new front and rears for the coupe. First time dealing with Rock Auto..and I must say..I think I got a pretty good deal...especially on the front struts. Got a pair of Gabriel Gas Struts for $37 each..they were on close out and the last 2 in stock. Then I also got a pair of KYB GR-2s for the rear $27 each...all in all seems cheap..I also like how they tell you they are shipping from differnt locations and as of right now.both fronts and one rear has been shipped. Can't wait to get out there and actually work on the car myself..I feel helpless on this end..I just order stuff and send it west:grin:
