Opinion of EA81 converted to SPFI is it worth doing?
I have been doing some reading up on this swap myself...debating on changing my 83 GL-10 coupe to SPFI..My reason is mainly cause...I am more familiar with the SPFI system then carbs...Now if the coupe was going to be a daily driver I think I would definately do the swap...but its going to be a restoration/show car..Garage queen/king...Maybe driven once a week and not at all during the winter.NO WAY!!!! I would be crazy to ship a car from the rust free lands of WA to the rust belt and allow it to be exposed to the elements.. So would you do this swap?Or leave it a carb..I mean there is some carb issues with it..Rob says it has a Carter on it and the PO did a butchering of the choke...we did discussed just plopping another carb on it. So in this case though..since its not going to be a driver per-say..would you leave it carb?

Just need to figure out Hollister ( 08 Imppy) Rocky..a return visit. Or the "Lil Blue One" if he is ready since he will probably just be getting here a couple weeks before...but that would be a cool unvailing of my Seattle Import:grin: Thanks Matt.. Ben..check your vacuum canister for your heater functions...Check those hoses make sure none are cracked or blew off..your heater controls are vacuum actuated. Then bring it to me and I will help you look at it:) Also..let me see what I may still have around thats EA82 orientated..If I have anything its yours ok?

Bucky92 replied to heartless's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXMy first reaction was:eek::eek::eek: ..Then it went to..Ahh Its a Subaru its fine.. Then back to WTF???- 48hr old 2008 OB in the shop
Bucky92 replied to Max Power's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXThere is one member on NASIOC who is having a similar problem with his 08 Impreza. But only on cold mornings and not to the severity of yours ( his will start 2nd or 3rd try) and doesnt throw a code. I am curious as to what they find is the cause. Since it happened within 48 hours it could be something very simple. You are lucky it tossed a code to make it easier to diagnose.- Have A Sitdown with Your Subie
I have always said..sometimes you just have to talk to your Subaru...ask backwoodsboy about Bucky...He now knows. I am looking forward to having my little "sit doen" with the Little Blue Coupe- Darn mice!
Bucky92 replied to sparkydave's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI have been fightng this problem all winter with my XT6 since it really isnt being used...4 boxes of moth balls...worked for a short time..now my car smells like old people and the mice are still having a field day.Tried everything but the poison cause I dont want to be smelling dead rotten rodents come spring.- my new horse for the stable
Bucky92 replied to mellow65's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXNice!!! And you got the Diamond of the bunch too...everything anyone could every want on an OB..its the perfect one!! If I wouldnt have gotten the deal on my 08 Imp..that is probably what I would have been looking for for a DD. I still sware..if my husband wouldnt have a cow.. I would probably own one of each...I have always wanted an OB since they came out.- So i'm finally done...
Bucky92 replied to njdrsubaru's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXLooks good Neo! I can tell the big difference between before and after..before the rear looks to be sagging.and you can definately see the better groung clearance in the front.- How would you tint a new Outback?
Bucky92 replied to absorka's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXDifferent States ..different laws..in CT the front doors are not 'supposed" to be no less then 35% ..but the back doors and rears can be as dark as you want...most go 35% froms 20% rears... I had my Imp done at 20% all around except the windshield..and I have seen some cars who have actually done thier windshield too....and like BattleAxeT6 says..lifetime warranty when you have it professionally done.. Mine is Lumex.. I think..for brand...good stuff though.. Now around here..they will not mess with you on tint unless you are doing something else stupid .On another note..My 20% actually appears lighter because I have a light interior. If you have a darker interior it will make the tint seem darker.- Whats the going price of a xt6 these days
Awww Skip Making me blush .. But I learned alot my XT6 knowledge from Gary But actually..even though most of the members from the XT board visit here regularly..there is more compounded info on the cars..online FSMs, upgrade secrets..repairs...over there.- An Update to all the 08 Imp Haters
Bucky92 replied to Bucky92's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI know I am envious... But I know why we dont get some of this stuff in our market...its the lazy American way...the average person ( Not us enthusiests) doesnt want to learn how to use the D/R shift..OMG that would require and effort. They woud much rather get in and put in D and go...Its sometimes even hard to find manual trannys now adays here. And thats just the tip of the iceburg. I would LOVE to have the D/R in my Imp. I am totally envious- Whats the going price of a xt6 these days
Depemds on condition...In near perfect shape ..low mileage...$3000 ..most are barely worth $1000 many many of us got ours in the couple hundred dollar ranges. This board is not the best place for XT and XT6 info...you should join subaruxt.com...thats where all the info and help is for them- 24 Hours of LeMons in CT
I was reading the rules...It would be SO cool to get a team together for this and do it And yeah..If Rocky is going to be crushed...it will be by my hands for all the lip he gives me sometimes LOL- 24 Hours of LeMons in CT
Going to be in Stafford in Aug. http://www.24hoursoflemons.com/events/ Its so tempting..I have to see if my XT6 would qualify LMAO Oh I think this would be the right forum. Maybe some of us could go together and do a team for this??- 2008 STI: Anyone have any thoughts? Test-drive review inside!
