Update: flat towed wagon 2,500mi
I think its all about the adventure..If you expect the unexpected..and are willing to take the chances..I would say go for it...It would be a great time and even better stories later. If I had the actual time to take off work I would seriouslly be thinking of driving my 83 GL-10 coupe back from WA...And thats about the same trip...2925 miles...44 hours of driving. Dont rush the trip back and take lots of breaks to go over the car..I would do it but I love driving.

Now Its official..Back to Old School!
I have to thank Rob for going and looking at it..twice..and we are getting it for next to nothing ( $450) but it does need some work...but but ..Oh I missed my GLF and I will finally have the perfect base for my real show car.. This will be kept in a bubble and in the garage. The stuff here just rusts to fast and I dont want all this effort to get this car to be ruined in 2 years of NE rust belt.It wont be destroyed by being driven when it shouldnt be.. I have Holly for that...she is a tough girl. I am going to look into having the underside treated somehow as a preventative measure too..

2008 STI: Anyone have any thoughts? Test-drive review inside!
Bucky92 replied to carfreak85's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI happen to be partial to the new body style ( gee I wonder why...der I own one:grin: ) And I happen to love it...I have nothing bad at all to say about the car. There are alot of differences between it and the Mazda 3..which I also happened to like. I was against the new body style as much as anyone...until I went and drove oe...looked it over very good...drove it again...checked it out some more...test drove it a 3rd time and was totally hooked...I have 6K miles on mine in about 2 months of use. (OK its not the STi but its still a 2.5i).

When it does make its way back here...it will be put in a bubble and it WILL be in the garage over the winter. Its not so much as getting the rust free stuff...for me these coupes ( Cou-Pays ..Skip;) ) are basically non-exsistant here...and it really bites when they are one of your favorites and you can't find them. I already know that its ellegable for Classic Tags and is emmission exempt:banana:

Planning on Flying out there for a couple days when I get my income check back to do alittle work on the car ( I wont let the boys do it for me ya know.) and get it ready for either its trip in the spring or a trip to the auto shipper. Also getting my pre- WCSS10 trip in. You can get RT airfare tickets for less the $250 pp:banana:. Plus I want to see a couple of my friends from out there.

Digi Dash Questions
Thanks Skip! I think with my experience making circuit boards that I might be able to find a fix..and thought about maybe doing a service thing. I wouldnt be gettig this Cou Pay if it wasnt for the efforts of Turbone..he went and looked at it the first time..I voiced a couple concerns then Him and Psyko ( thats my Lil Bro now) went to check out those concerns...now in about 2 weeks they will be picking it up and storing it till I can get out there for it or get it to the auto shipper.

:slobber: :slobber: Grits..why didnt you invite me Jess!!! No name picked yet..have to wait till he comes home which wont be at least till spring. Rob has some things he want to look at on it and Briggs ( Psyko ) has some parts for it. I plan on taking a 3 day weekend sometime and flying out there to "bond" with the newbie and work on it. This was the only rust found on the car and its inside the trunk...also an easy fix!)

Realistically speaking...
We towed an 82 GLF coupe...with an 84 EA81 4WD wagon...on a tow dolly...did fine ..alittle slow on the hills and stopping was tricky..Th Subaru motors may not have alot of HP but they do have torque...and that is what gives you the ability to tow...

Just got the call.. I just put a deposit on..the 83 GL-10 coupe that was posted in the craigslist/ebay section. So I am back to having an Old Gen...OK well it will be awhile till it finds its way to this coast BUT I am finally getting my 98% rust free WA car!! Some Pics: And if I understood Rob right..between him and Psyko..they got the new digi instument cluster covered and the broken tail light.

Quick question
The XT6 engine is an ER27 146 hp ( I love my XT6 but they that motor does have its issues)...A board member has done the swap into a Loyale and it does have its issues...one being cooling..there is no room for the radiator so he had to do some mods and still has some cooling issues ( Look for a member Loyale 2.7 Turbo ) I am not sure about the tranny.

Digi Dash Questions
Just curious...Has anyone figured out the usual cause for the digi- dash failures? Has anyone tried to fix one? Does anyone have a bad one already pulled that they may want to part with ? I want to take one apart and "play" Since I have been in electronics since 1990 and many many certs...I thought maybe I can come up with something..I have fixed my husbands battery back-up for his puter..fixed a VW instrument cluster before. There is also a method to my madness...but since it isnt 100% set in stone yet I wont say anything
