I have a theory. If his intake is stock, stock timing, stock boost checked with gauge and stock exhaust with no excessive leaks....then he's making power by (Drumroll) He has excessive carbon built up in one or more of his pistons. Excessive carbon buid up will raise cylinder temps and pressure and make more power than stock. However, this will push him closer to his detonation threshold once he begains to raise the boost. His compression is higher due to the extra carbon built up. That's my take on this. I'll take it a step further and say this may even be causing his dyno chart not to be that smooth up high. See how funky the lines are? This is the same thing your dyno (Will) was doing when you increase the boost in your past dyno charts. Detonation/Pinging/Knocking.....one of those. I dunno! Just a thought.

Why not me? I want a turbo 6. me, Me, Me, ME, ME!!! I posted this quote at the XT6.net site. Do you peeps think the math holds true? "Speaking of possibilities (bringing back an old post), there is a dyno put up today by a guy named Will at USMB. He dyno'd an EA82T with an intake, TWE header/downpipe, boost controller and intercooler. Here is his result: http://consumer.inkfrog.com/pix/WJM/rx_all_runs.jpg At 14psi he got 142.08hp and 182.20lb-ft of torque. At 15psi he got 161.68hp and 205.63lbs-ft of torque. This is with an assumed drivetrain loss of 30%. If this is the case, then at 15psi he's making approximately 230hp and 293lb-ft of torque at the crank. Not bad at all. Fast forward to us turbocharing our XT6s with the same stock compression ratio as the EA82T engine (7.7:1). Take (230hp/4)*6 and (293lb-ft/4) * 6. See what I'm getting at? 345hp and 440lb-ft of torque at the crank. Just something for us to ponder over and dream about."

Dyno charts, Oooohhh! You should post that in it's own thread. Air-Water intercooler dyno tested. I really like your air/fuel ratio. How did you establish that so even and rich across the rev range? Did you do something to add fuel or is that stock setting? Also, what's the hiccup at 5900rpm?

Nice clip! I never heard of any Subarus sounding like that. I thought it was another car until I played it the second time. My RX turbo has a totally different sound to it.

Dynoing an 83 suby
I'm always interested in dyno numbers. I'm betting you will put down around 50hp tops if your car is healthy. At least it is a start and you can monitor how much hp and torque you put down after doing any modifications. What are your plans after the dyno runs?

Another Completed EA to EJ Wagon
J/K How much does that wagon weigh stock? An EJ25 into a 2400lbs Scooby would be REALLY nice. This is still a significant gain in hp/torque though.

Very Very interesting Will. I would not be surprised if that gain is on the low end. I'll take a stab and say it is just before and just after 3000rpm. Am I right? **Crossing Fingers*** Oh yeah, I got the version 2 you want in my garage. I took this pic last week. Muhahahaha! Now where are those Dyno charts damn it! I hate waiting for those things. Thanks for the updates Matty. I for one have been looking forward to see how you and another person is doing on here (Turbo something). Very nice times! I want to join in the fun soooo bad but my driving skills suck with a manual (like how can u suck with an auto right?). Anyways, keep us updated as to what broke. Oh yeah, what happened on your first run? You had a great 60ft time but a slower trap speed. Why?

So if you change to a lighter weight pulley on a dyno and measure more power after the change, it is not a physical reality that you have more hp to use? You mean, even if this difference it measureable on the dragstrip as well, you do not have more power available to use? Note: I didn't say more horsepower but more power that is available to use (to accelerate the car).

RX approaching 'ultimate' status....
Ultimate all-around or ultimate in certain areas like straight line or around cones? Straight line should be easy to pick as that would be who has the fastest RX at the dragstrip. Who is it at the moment? On this board anyways? I'll never be, at least not in my manual trannied RX. I baby it too much off the line in fear of tearing up my tranny. I wouldn't be worried about this in an automatic.

Turbo alternitive to an ER27
A lightweight pulley will allow more power to turn the wheels instead of turning the crank pulley. Having more power available to accelerate the wheels rather than the crank pulley is useful. The 2nd advantage to having a lightweight crank pulley is that it eliminates the rubber bushing thingamajigga that fails on the stock crank pulleys on a lot of the XT6s. I haven't experienced a failure of an XT6 crank pulley since I luckily got an aftermarket crank pulley from two different companies but I have read about it from posts from other XT6 owners. $$$ spent on having more power available to the wheels and added reliability is a double plus. 1987 RX Turbo at the drags last night
I forgot all about this device and totally fell off the scene. Time to get back into the swing of things. *Looking on Ebay after this post* *Edit* Just found a bunch of pressure switched on Ebay but none like the one pictured above. Any suggestions?
