  1. Congrats and welcome to the board. Nice write up and glad to see you tackle something like this....on the street. Make me look bad. I think I am going to work on 'something' today since 'Scrappy' is in the garage. There is a thing or two I can install on it. People like you inspire me to get my arse back in the garage and type less.
  2. Bump! I am still having this problem. Trying to get a piece to hold the intercooler up without having to bolt to the intercooler itself. The back of the intercooler is hitting the base of where the tire would sit. You can hear it hitting during startup. I'm trying to be creative and think of some type of something that has rubber or something soft to hold the intercooler up itself.
  3. How the hell did I miss this? That header looks aweful. BoostedBalls, I expected better from you. It looks horrible with all the bling shine and everything. You need to make the exhaust diameter smaller so it can spool that turbo up quicker, which is too big as well. Send me a PM. I'll take that setup off of your hands for cheap before you embarass yourself on the dyno. Do the same thing again with a smaller turbo and smaller diameter piping of the header. I have the $$ for the setup. Perhaps you can use it to go to the movies or something. What do you say? Let's make a deal. J/K man! Looks great! BTW: I am wondering what will be done about your power steering lines on the passenger side near the header.
  4. Simple solution! Do what the guys have done here that are running in the high 14's. At this point you either a: Install a stronger clutch or b: get a tranny cooler and get your automatic to shift quicker. All that is left is a stronger fuel pump and a 50-60hp shot from a wet nitrous kit. That is it! If I could run a low 13 second 1/4 mile in my Outback Sport with this combo and the Outback was running high 15s without the nitrous, I'm sure a lighter EA82T that is running high 14's could be running in the 12's with a 50-60hp shot of nitrous. Have fun!
  5. I think you are mistaken. What are the specifications of the turbo Justy? Early models where carbed from what I have read. And if anyone would be considering an engine swap, I would think the earlier carbed model would suit the bill well. It was between 1600-1750lbs curb weight if I remember right.
  6. This is a really nice exhaust setup. Make some $$$ and offer to sell these. Everyone here isn't cheap.
  7. Looks like this may be heading somewhere. I'm one of those guys who would not dropping some $$$ for something like this. My turbo/header/exhaust modifcation was almost 3X the cost of my car. So yes, I'm down for this.
  8. Try eliminating the exhaust all together and just have the downpipe. I drove like this on my way to an exhaust shop to have a custom exhaust made and installed. Now that was LOUD!
  9. D-Cal, My question is, are you capable at cracking the EA82 (specifically the turbo model) code? If so, PM me and perhaps we can talk offline. Thanks!
  10. Can someone explain to me why todays tuners that tune the late model Subaru ECU can not tune an old school Subaru's ECU?
  11. 4 of 4 here. All daily drivers! All run and are licensed/insured to drive wherever you want to take them, near or far. Thank Gawd!
  12. Are you sure about this? Have you installed (or know of somone who has installed) a 300ZX maf on their 1.8ltr turbo without any problems?
  13. Nice cheap dyno runs! Yeah, thos AFR look scary on the top end. Good number without an intercooler. Hopefully, your tune is nice and safe especially because you have no intercooler. Be carefule driving around like that. What octane are you using?
  14. I like the wheels. The body seems straight. What's with the intercooler?
  15. Nice setup! I want to see the front mount.....from the front.
  16. Anyone thought of swapping the 4.44 gears into an auto?
  17. <----------Waits for the day to know what 12psi+ feels like.
  18. You are one crazy S.O.B! I have yet to drive my RX turbo in the snow. It may be interesting.
  19. Why won't he use the work truck?
  20. *Bump* I'm bumping this post up as a reminder to some people why they should have in intercooler installed on their turbocharged Scoobies.
  21. Gravilboy, Perhaps the link provided below will help you with your decision making. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=15554&highlight=EA82T+Inlet+Temp+Test+Data
  22. Man, I hate saying what I'm going to say because I love the XT6 but..... Go for the RX! If you are going for speed, the routes you can take to get there is already laid out in front of you with the RX turbo. Are you talking about rallying speed, road racing, drag racing, combos or something else? The fact that the XT6 is an auto SUCKS! I love my XT6s even though they both are autos but both of my trannies failed. It's the speed part that kills me. You have pros and cons all over the place. My XT6 will give my RX turbo a serious beatdown speed wise but I still have not turned up the boost. You want to turn up the boost? What year RX you getting? Older models are much easier to do this on then the Maf sensor based boost later modelled RX turbo. Then you better do something about fueling or your #1 and #3 piston will play Mike Tyson with your cylinder head. Fast RX turbo = More Fuel, boost, better clutch, intercooler, exhaust Fast XT6 = More power can be had though with custom intake, exhaust and advanced ignition. The RX turbo guys have been running mid - high 14 second 1/4 mile times with 15-18psi of boost. I have not been able to get my auto XT6 under 16.3 seconds in the 1/4 mile. On another note, I have much more fun driving the auto XT6 than the manual trannied RX turbo. Both are modded. It's just that the RX turbo's boost have not been turned up...yet. **Holding hands on head** Go for the RX for speed and follow these guys footsteps. Someone is going to find the solution for the XT6. I have an idea that has been passed around the XT6ers for a while. Doesn't mean crap until it comes to be. Gary, I'll share this with you soon. L8Rs
  23. Will anyone here be going to the 'Street Wars' event at Englishtown Raceway tomorrow? I will be in the street stock class in an XT6. Just wondering if any of the older scoobies will be up there.
  24. Nice score! I like ALL the differences of the car so far. The hood scoop, came front mounted intercoolered all ready. Lucky bastid! And it has less rust than mine.
