  1. Alright, so I'm trying to take some EA82 rear struts and put them on my EA81. When I bought my hatch it came with the reat lift blocks to do the convrsion. Here's where I'm lost. I got one of the struts apart and took the original mounting bracket off, but while trying to put the new lift block on I realized that I can't compress the strutt by myself to tighten down the two nutts on top. So...How do I go about this? Is there a trick? Can I buy a cheap-ish tool that holds the springs together? What are my options? Thanks- Ryan

  3. yea, known good alt at this point. I think the starter is toast. But why all the brake indicator lights on? ( brake lights still work by the way)
  4. As you all know, my wagon is possesed. It has weird electrical issue always. So, first it was dying occasionaly. Like the starter maybe? It would click and then suck all the juice and die, or do that a few times then start right up, even though a second ago the batt meter said it was dead. I jumped it. Then, the batt meter would raise with rpm's untill it hit the top. I changed alternators and that stopped, but it killed the battery in between. I charged the battery. Now, it stays at 8 on the batt meter at all times , and the stop lamp light, e brake light, and brake fluid light dont turn off??? Any ideas?
  5. gen 1 schmen 1, it's your car and the point is to have fun and entertain yourself. If you other guys have such a problem with it, get your own gen 1 and never ever drive it and polish it and keep it safe and warm. Let this guy enjoy himeslf.
  6. I don't know if you're trying to cover legality, or if you just want looks.. in fact these may not at all be what you are into.. I used 88 Jetta GL trims. I payed $15 for a set of 4 from the JY. Takes a little modification, but they go on.
  7. If you short out the plug, you may very well short out everything on it's circut. That could include your whole dash lights ( not sure) Your best bet is to just yank the bulb, or cover it up.
  8. Thanks for all the info guys. Air tools are out of the question for this situation. I also can't really let them soak for too long as I'm driving back up to Washington again to the parts car and I have to get the parts today. I will try PB blaster and a breaker bar and hope for the best....
  9. (Mods please feel free to put this where it belongs) Kerry, You and I had a deal. You supposedly sent me a rebuilt Webber DGEV 32/36 about three weeks ago. I have called you more times that I can count and sent you numerous e-mails. You do not respond to any of these. I paid you $150 through pay pal, then a $15 check for S&H, as well as my old Hitachi carb. I have still received nothing, nor have I received an e-mail or telephone response with any story or explanation. What is it that's going on here? I called the other number on your web site. It was forwarded to another man. When I spoke with him, he informed me that the number I called was a cell phone you used to have that you never paid the bill for in his name ( this makes me worry). It got cancelled and now all those calls get forwarded to him. What should we do here? I want either my money, or my carb. The next step is to go through the pay pal fraud department, but then I lose my Hitachi and my $15. Please make good on this, communication is all I ask if there is a set back. -Ryan
  10. Just like it says. Anybody got any tips to loosening those bolts on the top of the strut? I'm having trouble, I suck.
  11. I got em off ebay, but I'll send a mail or something. Maybe I'll just try to reverse the setup.
  12. I just got some different headlights off ebay. They are basically the same, just abright white with some dumb secondary blue bulb you can hook up to look rice. So here's my question. When I plug them in, it causes my high beam lights ( two of the four in the grill) to turn on also. When they are on it does not seem that they are on high, just kind of like on as well as the replacements. Any body know why? Why would these new lights cause my high beams to be on? I don't get it.
  13. DAMN SON!!! I know that hurts. The pocket book, the motivation, and the ego I'm sure. I would be pissed for weeks. I'm really sorry to see it man.
  14. Sorry, 6. I did not elaborate, the poop wagon is not actually ours. I sold it to a friend who thinks if he just leaves it here long enough the brake caliper will magically get replaced with one that works, little does he know it's just gonna keep on sitting there. Good job on getting your brat too Flyboy, everyone's a winner.
  15. So, I just got the hatch I've been waiting on. Some how on the same day Nicky Night Eyes( the roomie ) got his brat. We live in the city on a main street with a one car garage and a one car driveway. We also live in a duplex and the neighbor is out landlord. I wonder how he's gonna feel when he walks out this morning and sees Lifted 83 bumble bee wagon Lifted 83 Green Machine wagon Lifted 85 hatch Stock 82 Wagon Stock 81 wagon and Cherry 82 Brat ( not to mention almost the whole damn ss suabru in pieces in the garage) HAHAHAHA I bet we're getting evicted. LOLZ
  16. Damn scrap, looking good. Question...why'd I give you an engine? Do you have another car or is the one in this car crap? ( I don't regret or anything, just curious)
  17. Good Q. I'm curious of this answer as well...can't wait untill someone knows.
  18. Ddddaaaaaaaaaaaaammmmmmmnnnnnnnn.. You will definitely see the bumble bee there. This is what I've been waiting for.
  19. I hate to be a naegative nancy, but it could be your heater core...so then you have to decide if you'd rather have no heat, or rip 3/4 of your dash apart to change it. An easier fix may be a stuck valve on one of the inlet houses to the heater core, or once my friend had a similar issue and it ended up being just the wire connection on the back of the heater controll nob itself. I guess start with that and go backwards is my advice, but I by no means am telling you I'm positive of any of this.
  20. Looks great! But I think you are gonna bend the hell out of those blocks when you do some serious off roading. You might try for some thicker blocks in my opinon, but practice makes perfect. I'm also curios to see if it feels all wobbly on the road.
  21. I've been thinking about doing this to my wagon for over a year. I don't know I don't know i don't know. I will do at least the bottom half, but I REALLY want to see pics if/when you get this done. I'm all for it. DO IT! Haha.
