I actually got it solved the lead I spliced in to the old wire wasn't getting power so I re did it and now it's solid! I also got k&n crank case breathers installed, put new spark plug wires and got it all painted black(not a final paint job) yesterday was a good day.

Yea it had one on the drivers side.

Also discovered the choke doesn't seem to be engaging

Now I took the air cleaner off and there is moisture all inside it. even a little pool resting on the bottom of it.....I feel like that could be bad news

I can't catch a break here. I go to start the BRAT and while its warming up it just suddenly cuts off...no warning or anything from the engine just dead. I go to start it back up and it fires but immediately dies unless I hold the accelerator down. I know I have gas because I put 8 gallons in it yesterday evening. Not really sure what is going on or where to start looking. Any suggestions with my vague description? Thanks in advanced.

I won't be organizing anymore. I actually took a job back in California to be closer to family so I'm leaving at the end of march. We should all get together and go to the Steve Johnson meet/cruise at PRE on march 2nd I'm on my phone so can't post the Facebook link at the moment.

Hey so I recently installed the weber 32/36 on my 79 BRAT and I have notice a drastic drop in my gas mileage. Just going off my Trip meter I was pulling about 220-250 miles with the hitachi per tank(generally filled with a 1/4 left) and now I am done with my first tank with about 1/4 left and I am barley breaking 100 miles on my trip meter. I did a search and it seems the weber should give me about the same or better fuel economy. Did I do something wrong?

wow thanks for posting those pictures..my brat is doing the same thing..it is also leaking out of the pan so I figured it is time to pull the pan replace gasket, switch and clean the pump up!

So my weber showed up today! Got it hooked up for the most part but need to do some adjusting. Which hopefully I can get it dialed in on friday before the old gen meet on saturday. Right now my problem is the car stays running when I turn the car off. But on the bright side it fired right up and sounded so much healthier than it did before.
