  1. So I had to leave the car behind tonight...The plug I put in on the Brake booster valve came out while I was accelerating again. I happened to have a hose clamp so I put a new cap on it and clamped it down tight. Then the plug for the anti- after burning valve popped off (yes the jerry rigged on as Brock put it) and I didn't have anything to plug that one well enough so during acceleration the Engine seemed hesitant as if it was skipping a beat or something along those lines. Going to get another hose clamp tomorrow and fix it. Luckily it happened close enough to work that I was able to limp it back and leave it in the parking lot. Has anyone had this problem with plugs popping off? As I have made clear before this is all new to me but if it has a vacuum shouldn't t suction keep it from popping or blowing outward? Any help is appreciated. But on the bright side I got my turn signals working. It turned out to be a bad flasher and the one I bought from Auto zone was bad as well right out of the box. Put a little bit nicer of one in and they work!
  2. Yeah I have a feeling it is the actual lever or switch which ever you wish to call it. Everything works my high beams click on when engaged but the turns signals do not when the lever is engaged..but my hazards do and from what I have read on here that means it is something in the switch in the steering column.
  3. Brock that other vacuum port is indeed already plugged. I am not sure the reason behind putting a bigger piece of tubing over the whole thing but it is indeed plugged. my newest problem is last night I was driving and my turn signals stopped working. After searching the forum for a solution I checked My hazards and they work, Fuses are fine and wiring looks to be in decent shape. So I am stumped. Any ideas?
  4. Yea I got the one plugged and ill check the other rigged u one tomorrow.
  5. Yeah I had a friend send a picture of his brat over to me and my line from the master cylinder goes into a different vacuum port so i just capped this one off for now.
  6. So I am thinking Jubitz suggestion would be a good location to help accommodate those coming in from Washington. Jubitz Travel Center 33 Northeast Middlefield Road Portland, OR 97211 It will have plenty of parking and we can grab coffee or snacks while we get together. Sound good?
  7. So today I found where my brake booster is routed so just plugged that vacuum port up for the time being. I also installed a new Accelerator Cable and man does it feel better, and while I was at it I messed around with the idle ajust screw to get a better idle. My Tach is reading about 500 rpm while idling does that seem about right? I just went with what sounded good. Another present for the brat by Kevin Talley, on Flickr

  9. The brakes are normal... At least from my experience. I looked at an older picture of the engine and it looks like this valve was just capped off. I'm thinking maybe the cap popped off. I'm workin all day so will investigate further. But you do seem to be correct I've had 3-4 friends with this engine snap photos and that is what is hooked up to the valve. Hopefully it's nothing to bad.
  10. Yea I was told its the vacuum port for my brake booster but it looks like the brake booster is hooked up elsewhere so just cap it.
  11. I can't find any hoses that are disconnected. But like I said that other picture looks like it just has a cap over it of some sort..maybe it came off or cracked or something?
  12. Untitled by Kevin Talley, on Flickr I need help!!!! I was driving home and my car started idling super high in Neutral so i pulled over and checked it out..I found the source and am confused on what to do now...It appears to be a vacuum leak so I called a friend who is a car guy but not sure about old subarus and he said just plug it with something until you get home and take it easy since I had my 3yo with me and we were about 15mins from home. Well i covered it with electrical tape and made the drive home the idle returned to normal but it started to get jumpy in 3rd and 4th kinda felt like it was going to stall but kept going. Now since I have no idea how to explain it I took some pictures and maybe you can help..I looked through my repair manuals and the only picture I can find that has this valve doesn't have a description or anything so Please help if you can.
  13. also looking into older photos it looks as if it just had a cap on it of some sort previously 1979 Subaru Brat by Kevin Talley, on Flickr if you can see it..I had to kinda zoom in.
