I was planning on making the exhaust as short as possible with little or no muffling, I don't know what size pipe to use. I like what you said about the stock cam. Will the wrx injectors work? What kind of engine management is affordable? I have heard of Link, haltek, and motec. But those are all expensive, and I would use an ej20t instead if I were to buy one of those systems. So I am limited to bargain parts, used etc. -
I am making an 85 RX sedan into a budget rally car. What engine modification do you guys suggest. The car will have no smog equipment, and I am a capable fabricator. So making exhaust flanges, tube bending are no problem. I have been looking at td04 turbos from wrx's and there intercoolers, stock and sti's. I understand cams, porting, 2wd distributor are good mod's. What about wrx injectors and blow off valve. And are better head gaskets important. I am looking to have a semi dependable car with good drivablity (midrange power). Would like 200+ hp if that's possible without making a handgrenade. Thanks in advance!! P.S. I have an extra engine already, and the japanese import engines are fairly cheap here in ca.

I recently bought a remanufactured RX stock clutch kit, off E-bay from a co. in Arizona for around $85. The turbo 4x4 clutch wasn't listed at first, then I emailed him and he posted what I wanted. But he wasn't interested in making it stiffer etc.

I also saw somewhere that eaton also makes an m-25, but have not been able to find any info on this unit.

Has anyone thought of using on of these on a ea-82. It looks like it could fit where the air conditioning compressor sits. And has an electric clutch? I don't know the benifit of a clutch, because they dont appear able to pull air thru it when not operating, maybe some type of one way valve? I sure Someone here has thought this thru.

It was half price day at "Pick a Part" so was only $18.00. Looks like it could fit in front of the radiator, with some modification. Can the plastic ends be modified? Can plastic be welded? My car is no beauty just a beater rally car!

Has anyone made one of these fit in an EA-82?

I stored my rx for 4 years, now it won't pump fuel. I have tapped the fuel pump many times. Any suggestions?

Quick check for bad head gasket with leak to cooling system is to remove oil filler cap and look under neath for milky white or light tan oil ( oil mixed with water ). Check dipstick also for milkyoil if you haven't yet. Could be a burnt exhaust valve or stuck ring, do compression check to determine that, then add a little oil, if its rings the compresion will jump up. Hope that helps

steering brakes for 85 rx?
sheppie62 replied to sheppie62's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Thanks for the info -
Ok I understand that the front and rear differential are locked together and locking the rear will also lock the front. But what If I put the calipers from a 200sx with the e-brake on the rear and made the front and rear of one side lock up would this transfer the power to the opposite side wheel? And would a limited slip diff make any difference? Would this make an effective steering brake?

What if, with a part time high/ low fourwheel drive trans , if both right side/ front and back could be locked up and both left side front and back could be locked up separately. Would the power be delievered to the opposite side wheels? And if so would this work for quick direction changes? That's how track driven tractors operate, of course at very low speeds. -
Yes, that is what I was thinking. Possibly notching the inner bead seat to fit 15" and maybe cutting and drilling the outside for a 15" bead locker ring.
-
Are these larger or smaller than 15" rims and by how much? Is it possible to machine them smaller in the tire groove to act as bead locks?
-
OK I understand completely. Thanks so much! I really like the 6 lug conversion on the brat page.
-
So no cv angles are increased?
-
Are there any plans, drawings, or exact details for me to make my own lift kit?
-
So nothing with the engine/ trans sub frame gets moved?
-
Where do the lift kits go on the car (ea82). I have looked at the pictures of the kit, but still not sure where they install.
