http://www.sergeantstowing.com/content/auction.php number 18 on the list. Left the car abandon and it has 15" pugs

I found this wooden bed liner for the back end of the brat (Gen 1) that fits great but I have other uses for it, which will require me to cut it up a bit. Is anyone interested in a copy or plans on how to build it? The bed liner is set up to be used with no seats in the back and a tail gate attached. If anyone wants pics or is interested let me know.

are the XT's and XT6 good rally cars? and what about the SVX?

Ok update I pulled one of my 15"s off the side of my fence and jacked the car up to see if it fit. Yep sure enough. I did notice the tire did rub some but I could not tell if it was because the tire on the wheel was rotten and cracked and bulging in certain spots. But it does look like it works. Now it looks like I have the Pug Lugs for 3 of the 4 wheels, I know that you can buy them on line somewhere, Does anyone know a place?

PUG wheels are installed!!!

Ok my 80' Brat project is almost done. Right now I have stock wagons and reg steel rims on the Brat. I have a set of 15" pugs I would like to place on the truck. I heard except for the special acorn lugnuts it was a straight swap. I mean they should just fit on right? Also other than cutting the front fenders for the bigger tire size, Is there anything I need to do to the back. Because the 13"'s on it now look like they are close to rubbing?

Was ac an option for 80' Brat?

If R12 is so bad for the environment. Why would the hvac guys want it. Do they reuse it? What can you do with it? My thought with the environment stuff, is that if (we) as a whole Country and say the people in Canada, Australia, and the UK went 100% green. We recycled everything, all are cars were electric or hydro base. We got rid of all the Cows on the farm because they burp methane, and was most vigorous on planting new trees. The rest of the world, would and does not care. You just can't make me believe that someone starving in a 3rd world country gives a rip about the environment. So personally 1 cup of gasoline in a swamp just doesn't keep me up at night. I was upset with the major stuff that pollutes, like oil fields burning for months on end in Iraq, Oil spills from tankers from some drunk Captain running aground, Or the many natural disasters that happen yearly. Sorry to stand on a soap box! I'll get off now. Besides the soap has phosphate that is bad for the environment too. :-\ -
It was not ment to look like pj's To be honest all the colors on the back ground are a shade of green (Neon, forest, and Apple) The apple looks sort of pink against the other greens I will have to tell my wife about the pj comment though.

by the way on the looks of the new soobs I have to say the tribeca is one ugly rig. I really enjoy the old corkyness of a mid- to late model subaru. (Mid-80's) I make an exception with the wrx that is sweet look'n. The forester is a shoe box, and the outback is just boring. Not that Honda has anything more to desire.
-
That is exactly what we will be doing. So do you think it makes a nice cooler? I was also thinking of having strobes or pulse rope lights under the ice to make a cool effect like lightning.
-
hey normally I would post this elsewhere but it is related to what he are talking about. http://portland.craigslist.org/yam/car/278220732.html yeah that may beat a 79' brat if it had spinners and a wing.

yes the whole car is neon green with some other colors. I will put up a few pics but the car is not done yet. It is still in the process. That is a interesting way to remove rust. I may have to try that one. Thanks for the impute. Ok Here are some pics: http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j259/kingwill8/FullView.jpg (When I first bought it.) http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j259/kingwill8/Tailgate.jpg (rear) http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j259/kingwill8/006_6.jpg (This is the front we will redo the teeth) Ok it was neon green before but we just painted over the white paint that was originally on the car. Now with this paint job we took it down to bare metal, primer white, then neon green to make it bright as possible. http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j259/kingwill8/HPIM1583.jpg (back pass ) http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j259/kingwill8/HPIM1626.jpg (close up look at the graphics) http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j259/kingwill8/HPIM1578.jpg (wife is making door shield mark) http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j259/kingwill8/HPIM1590.jpg (What it looked like when it dried) http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j259/kingwill8/HPIM1584.jpg (Another shot) http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j259/kingwill8/HPIM1628.jpg (adding 15 pieces of flare) http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j259/kingwill8/HPIM1633.jpg (close up of the flare) http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j259/kingwill8/HPIM1635.jpg (another look/ more flare) http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j259/kingwill8/HPIM1636.jpg ( and what the hood looks so far) The back bed area has speaker holes cut out of the the panels and water proof speakers are going in near the seats and the high roll-bar. The bed has roll-on Rhino guard as so does the cab. After painting is all done clear coat will be sprayed on so hopefully the color will not fade, Or scratch off. It is only spray paint. Future updates will be 15" neon Green pugs, weber, small lift, amp, 1800 upgrade and may change to a auto from a stick. And was thinking but only thinking of lambo doors. Hope that helps paint the pic of what the car is coming out to look like.

My brat can out run an old lady and her Rascal scooter on route to the Grand Canyon. I have had it as well Over 90 mph with room on the pedal. Now what are we comparing A 1979 GL Brat against a 1979 Honda CVCC or a 1979 GL Brat against the 2007 Acura NSX ???

Not sure, I will need to go out and Take some pics. may do that tomorrow or Monday I have off. And please send me anything that will show how to remove it or what it takes, so I can make a better decision on what it will take. -
Ok I am converting my Brat to a promo car. For xs energy drink. called the xsbrat anyway I have some white and rust wagon wheels with crappy tires on them. Now my plan is to get a set of wheels and get the rust and corrosion off the wheels and to repaint them. Neon green. Now the car is all spray painted but I think it looks good and it will be a eye catcher. But since the car is spray painted the wheels could be spray painted as well that is fine. My question is what is the best way to remove the rust and corrosion off the wheels, (sand blasting and a powder coat sounds expensive) What is a budget way to do this? I will soon switch them to pugs (neon green pugs) shortly.

As a novice with the ac unit I more than likely will not try to remove it myself. What do the license tech's do with the r12 anyway some is going to escape in the air sometimes right? And once they suck it into a holding tank, What is done to it then or where does it go? Paul If I am able to remove it. I will let you know first before getting rid of any parts. (Oh and I will use the towel trick to. Thanks) Really I would like the condenser under the dash gone most of all. So I have the room for other gadgets. Looks like now I will be placing the stereo in the glove box area to give me just a little more leg room with the shifter. The plastic bracket sticks right in my calf and it's a bit sore after driving for awhile. I'm just a little bit worried about drilling down or up into the plastic box covering the condenser I do not want to hit anything with a screw or something. -
My 80' brat has a ac unit that has a bearing out. It still works but it is noisy. I have removed the belt and have strapped it with bungy cords to the fender wall to get it away from the engine while I was working on it. I really do not want the unit in the car, but the car is filled with piping for the ac that runs up underneath the dash and glove box. Do I need s professional to remove it or is this something I can do myself? Or if I can not remove this, does anyone know where I can get it fixed and recharged?

Driving a Brat later - any ideas?

Just a side note btw the very sloppy stick, where 1st gear feels like neutral, is very common on these cars. I've owned two Brat and drivin more, all of them have that problem. It's just a cork. but drivability is fine. -
I found a replacement windshield for my 80' brat at a local U-Pull it but I have never pulled out a windshield b4 or know how to replace one once I have removed it. Has anyone done this?
