I have 95 legacy AT, and I feel like my transmission is not at the best it could be. I get real close to 6k RPM sometimes, and i think i might be pushing the limits of my car a bit. Also , when the car is still a bit cool, it jerks a bit when it shifts. Do you guys think i am headed for tranny problems? or is this sound okay? Also, what kind of ATF should I use? Is there a good sythetic fuild recommended, or shoudl i by fuild directly from the dealership? Do i have to change the pan gasket everytime as well?

I have the same car as you, and that is about the mileage I get. I do sometimes get a slight buring smell, but i think that is just oil (i have a slight leak). My rear brake are drum, which i hate by the way. But back to mileage. I have changed all the plugs, fuel filter, air filter, and O2 sensor, switched to synthetic oil, upped tire pressure to 39 psi, even dropped in some greased lightning fuel system cleaner, and after all this I think I went from 19.5 - 20.0 MPG to 20.0 - 20.5 MPG. I might upgrade to platnium plugs in a little bit. But for the most part I am out of ideas. If you have any, please do share.

I am doubtful that it is a simple fuse issue. If you are not able to get it fixed for only a few dollars, you might want to consider putting in a new stereo. A CD player would cost you around or even less than $100 for a decent one. If you shop around, sometimes circuit city.good guys/bestbuy...etc...has a deal where if you buy the deck from them, they will install it for free.

I went with 35% all around (except the front windshield). I bought a 100 foot roll of ebay and I am doing it myself. The roll cost 40 bucks with shipping. I am averaging about 2.5 tries per window, so by the end I would have used about 50 feet. If you can get somebody to help you, it is 1000 percent easier.

Door Ajar Indicator Light 85 GL Wagon
Novakaine replied to sregor13's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Yeah that is about right. There is a little rubber covered switch on the door jam, that when the door closes it closes the switch. Just unscrew that switch and disconnect the wire attached to the back of it. -
I think SPAL makes the universal kits that should fit most cars. I bought mine from gmwhitelude on ebay. He seemed to have the best prices. The directions were okay, the wiring is not that hard, all you really need to supply is power and a ground. The hardest part was where to mount the actuator and all that stuff.

Yeah it is possible. I did this not too long ago. Your best bet is to buy a power door lock kit, and then install it. The kit comes with a universal actuator, and some mounts and a brain. Installation is a little time consuming, but if you want, I will email you some pics of my install. The brain also makes adding a keyless system very easy. The car is most likely not pre-wired for power door locks, but all you need is power from the car, the comes with the door lock kit. You don't need a switfch because the lock is the switch. Good luck.

I don't know if they are going down hill. But there are a lot of companies coming into the four wheel drive market. Toyota has the Matrix and lexus something with 4WD, i think honda has a few, including the new acura 3.5 RL...and so on and so fourth. I hardly think Ford is the biggest threat to Subarus market share. Plus, subaru has years of experience in the AWD system...so i count on them for a more reliable AWD car.

For those of you that have several subaru's and for those of you who just know the answer. I was hoping you could tell whether the carpet from a 98 legacy sedan would fit on a 95 wagon, and if not how close of a match would it be? enough that with a little heat gun action could i get it to fit? Any input would be much appreciated. Thanks.

In my legacy, the metal hook that door latches to when you close the door, had moved a little. So even when the door was closed, it was not flush with the rest of the car. 2 minutes with a screw driver and i fixed all the doors, and my door ajar light went away. All i did was loosen the screw, push the latch in, and tighten.

A new antenna shoudl come with a new chrome cone, so might be aloowed to mess this one up. However, i would buy the antenna first to make sure of that. Also, the new cone may not fit properly so doule check that as well. Oh, and it should screw off, at least that was the way mine worked for the mitsubishi antenna i replaced.

Yeah that is a little crazy. But lucky you, you have one power window. I was thinking of adding power windows to my car, with the spal universal kit, but that is too expensive. So instead I am just doing power locks. But You might want to check around for other damage, maybe the frame or somethign could be a little bent. It is great that it runs fine, but it is nice to know what is going on with your car. Also, how many miles do you have on your car...just curious.
