  1. I'm working on one of my Daughters 2010 Impreza 2.5, 5-Speed Wagon the clutch style center diff is bad, I have a 98 Impreza Parts 5-Speed, which uses the gear type center diff, and I was wondering if anyone has replaced the newer "clutch Style, with an older "Gear Style" center diff......

It'd be nice to be able to use the parts I have laying around instead of buying a new Clutch Style center diff ($465)....

So if anyone has done this, I'd like to hear about it....

    Thanks!

    Huck

  2. Our 2008 Outback has this same issue, no cruise control, flashing cruise light, but no CEL and no codes...drove 10 hour trip yesterday without cruise......Very annoying, guessing it has something to do with the electronic throttle.....I really miss the old throttle cAbles, as they simply worked.... So any info on this problem would be appreciated....

  3. Wow, that wagon looks nice!  Did you buy it used?  How many miles on it?

For a brake handle, try a Pull n' Pay yard.  Or try online used parts sites.  Good luck.

I bought it used for a spare car for my daughter while her car was down with a bad transmission....it is really nice for a 93, original paint, and clean inside, has 168k on it, and seems to have been well maintained. I actually have it up for sale, as it isn't needed anymore..... http://lexington.craigslist.org/cto/5901070381.html

  4. This is what I was gonna say too.

Take the EJ25 wiring harness (probably throttle body too) and swap it over to the EJ18 manifold.

Biggest issue will be IAC. If nothing else you can cap it and you'll just have to hold your foot on the gas to idle it up for a few seconds when cold.

Just an FYI it will be alot slower with an EJ18, and if too heavy a car you won't ge that much better milage if you try to give more gas to go as fast as it would have before. Let it be slow, and you'll save.

Not looking for better MPG, just the cheapest replacement motor (I have 3 EJ18's laying around) I figure the 4.44 gearing in the Forester will make it "OK" for hauling it around, but yes, I know it will be slower than the 2.5....but faster than a blown 2.5 ;)
