  1. Just did this myself the other day. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/48359-timing-belt-procedure-ea82/
  2. I hope you're not serious.. EDIT: Maybe you thought he was talking about the other pic posted, not the one he quoted?
  3. I am not completely sure, as I have an SPFI EA82, but I believe the Weber carb needs more fuel pressure than that. I recall reading 7 psi at one point. Hopefully someone with a carb can give you a better answer.
  4. Sounds like you need to check the washer that goes between the castle nut and the cone washer. Not sure if the EA81s and EA82s are the same, but at least on the EA82s that washer needs to be convex out, so it makes contact with the inside of the castle nut and the outside of the cone washer, otherwise it won't hold the torque.
  5. I know this thread is kind of old, but I was driving my 88 GL 3 Door to pick up my sister at school, and at first I thought my eyes were deceiving me, since I have only ever seen 2 other EA82s, and no EA81s around here, but there it was, a beige Brat with a red logo stripe, and one red fender sitting at a popular fishing spot. I went and picked my sister up and came back to check it out. It had the rear cargo seats and a 4 speed dual range. I looked around a little bit for the owner, but there was nobody in sight. What surprised me even more was the little amount of rust. There was some surface rust in the bed, but the underside looked almost perfect, much better than my 3 door. I would have never expected to see a brat in that kind of shape around here. And I definitely understand how big of a deal this was to you, kurt. I don't even own a Brat and this was the highlight of my day. You simply don't see these old Subaru's in Minnesota/Wisconsin.
  6. Stumbled upon this thread while reading about water pumps and oil pumps for my GL. It's not the cleanest car, but it was given to me for free, runs great and I have only stuck about $500 into it so far. It's a 1988 GL with an EA82 and a 3AT, push button 4wd, 122,000 miles. You don't see many of these cars around here. I replaced the windshield since I took these. The muffler also rusted off(sounds BA now). It needs a water pump as of right now, but I love this car for whatever reason.
