  1. Welcome to the forum . The Subaru is not a cheap car to hop up. Aftermarket performance parts are high priced .
  2. Can I get this thread deleted please ?
  3. On to plan B. There's a 97? Outback sport at my work with the 2.2 and manual trans in it. It would be nice to install that.
  4. So your saying my DOHC intake won't fit the SOHC heads and that's the need for the harness change.?
  5. I have a 98 Outback with a 2.5 DOHC. There is a 2000 Legacy at my work with a 2.5 SOBC dual port. I'm interested in installing the single cam heads on my 2.5 DOHC block. I tried to search but didn't find any helpful info.
  6. Thank you for that advice. I'm still learning this forum.
  7. I take it that it has a carb. It could be a bad accelerator pump in the carb.
  8. I have a 98 Outback with a 2.5 DOHC. There is a 2000 Legacy at my work with a 2.5 SOBC dual port. I'm interested in installing the single cam heads on my 2.5 DOHC block. I tried to search but didn't find any helpful info.
  9. Very cool Outback !
  10. Round Remote Transmitter Programming Instructions 1. Disarm the security system (if so equipped). 2. Open the driver's door and sit in the driver's seat. 3. Close the driver's door. 4. Place the ignition key in the ignition switch and cycle the switch from "LOCK" to "ON" ten times within 15 seconds. Be sure to stop at the "LOCK" position and leave the key in the ignition when you are done. The horn will sound once to indicate that you are in transmitter programming mode. 5. You must finish the next steps within 45 seconds of the horn honking. 1. Open the driver's door. 2. Close the driver's door. 3. Press and release any button on the transmitter. The horn will sound two times to indicate that the transmitter has been programmed. 6. After programming your remote, remove the key from the ignition switch. The horn will sound three times to indicate the system is now out of programming mode. Ensure your remotes work properly at this time
  11. The is the wrong section for this but will try to help anyways. You have a lot of white smoke out the exhaust ? If so, sounds like a blown head gasket.
  12. Changing my bulbs to LED's and finding a 101 reasons why not use a home surround sound system subwoofer in my car. Lol.
  13. Why are you posting this in my thread ?
  14. Is there any info on installing a WRX engine into a 98 Outback ?
  15. I'm in the US but it would be cool to have a RHD car here. I've read some on here that the single cam heads fix the head gasket problem. I thought using a MLS head gasket on the DOHC takes care of that problem. There seems to better knowledge on this forum then on some of the other forums.
  16. Thanks for that great info. The only down side for me is that I won't be able to use the free gas at my work .
  17. I can get my hands on the single cam heads but will I have to run 93 gas ?
  18. Give it a good soaking with PB Blaster. I would also try turning the bolt after soaking it to help the PB Blaster around the bolt.
  19. Spent a little time looking around on the forum and I like this place. I really like the section for old Subaru's. Some I've never seen before and some I haven't seen in person for a very long time.
  20. Using the heater doesn't burn extra gas. The first thing is to see what code it is throwing. Get that fixed and do an oil change and tune up.
  21. Thank you. Most people think they are stretch bolts do the the degree torque method. The degree's are to compensate for creep. Creep is the extra friction of the steel bolt head moving against the softer aluminum. That is my understanding of it.
