2.2 valve train

Will the valve train for those years work with a 97 ej22? I'm going with some delta cams and would like to upgrade the springs as well. I think that delta can supply them though. But thanks for the idea with the ej22t. -
Took my subi in to the dealership for a new front axle. Was told my head gaskets are leaking?? Must be external cause I dont overheat....ever. Anyways, was wonder what the best option is for head gaskets? I have a few mods, and will be adding some deltas very soon . Are there some thinner gaskets that might improve my compression ratio? Or just some quality gaskets that will last under spirited driving? Thanks!!

Clean your MAF sensor, or get a used one at a junk yard. But either way clean it. I just went through this exact same thing with my car. Got a replacement at a junkyard for 40 bucks. All better.

Performance MAF

Awesome, thanks for the advice everyone!! I just went ahead and found a used oem from the local junkyard. 40 bucks. Cleaned it, re-installed and all is good. Even feels like it runs a bit better now. -
My MAF sensor has taken a dump I cleaned it, didn't work. Still throwing the PO102 code. Looks like I have to get a replacement. I have a 97 OBS. Is there such thing as a performance MAF? I have a snorkus delete/CAI. I searched all the forums but didnt find too much on the subject except a MAF from a 300 ZX. If this is a performance "upgrade" is there anything else that needs to be done when using the 300 ZX Maf? Thanks

Hey need some advice.....so I found a local wrecked 04 sti. Engine has 140,000. Owner sold the intake and turbo. Wondering if I can drop my 2.2 heads and intake on there and drop it right in place of my 2.2 block and just keep it n/a for now? My car is a 97 obs. Would the ecu and atock wiring work? Also the car was in a front end collision and the driver's side timing cover was crushed. Will the head be ok, or is there some type of other damage I should look for? Thanks!

Plugs and wires are new. I dont think there is an exhaust blockage. Just upgraded to EL headers and a magnaflow front cat. New gaskets all the way back. Intake gasket leak is a possibility. As for it running too lean....hmmm...when I pulled off the stock exhaust manifold I did notice that the exhaust valves did look pretty white. I was kinda thinking along the line of a possible fuel delivery problem? I have not changed the fuel filter. I will do that. Perhaps the fuel pump is faulty? Like there is proper fuel pressure for the first 20 min then it drops? Is this even a possibility? Can a fuel pump have that symptom? Im replacing the front pads and rotors soon. The rear are drum so I should check them out. It is a definite possibility that one could be dragging a bit.

Hello everyone. I've got an intermittent problem with my Impreza. My 97 OBS 2.2 with a hand full of mods. At 265,000 the engine burns zero oil, no leaks, great compression. The problem is that most of the time during acceleration, whether at WOT or just normal, it feels as though something is holding the car back. The reason I know this is cause after the car sits for a few days without being driven and I take it for a drive I notice that the acceleration is smoother than usual, and the car just goes very easily. WOT at this time is awesome! Its quick and has a lot more torque, significantly more MPG, and it just purrs. But after driving, say for 10 miles or so it just kinda goes back to its old self: not as smooth acceleration, MPG goes down, less torque, and it feels like the E-brake is slightly on. Just changed the diff and manual fluids. IDK anyone got any ideas?

Just wondering...why do you want the un-equal over equal? EL headers give you more power, as where the UEL headers just give you mostly sound. If you want some good rumble put a magnaflow glass pack muffler on it. They sound great!! I have one on my 97 OBS. I also just added some EL headers and it sounds even better now and has more pull. But either way, check out sube4x4 on ebay. He makes really nice headers, EL or UEL, for a great price. Just coat them with some high heat header paint and they will last a lot longer than cheap knockoffs.

Hey was wondering if anyone has any experience with Super Stable Coilovers? They are pretty cheap, price wise, but look decent. I need new struts and springs all around and these are the best price compared to new struts, tops, springs. They are adjustable, but Im not looking to lower my car, actually was originally looking to do the legacy outback strut lift. But with these coilovers there is no spring perch so looks like taller tires might fit. If taller tires do fit I could gain a little more clearance by adding some strut spacers. Any input?
