Belt Driven Fan?
What was the point of the fan? My car runs nice and cool, in fact I don't even know if my electric fan works, I don't think it has ever gotten hot enough to kick on.

Belt Driven Fan?
what's up with the gen 1 engine (belt) driven fan? My '77 manual says they were on 4WD only. What was the point of this? I ask because mine seized up, and I figure the easiest quick fix would be a smaller belt that by-passes it. but while we are at it, does anybody have the dimensions or part #s for the bearings (I think there are 2) for the fan?

Historic Ice Racing On Lake George!
Awsome pics man! I gotta get up there some time. Lake George was my first home, born in Glenn's Falls in 1969 when my parents lived and worked at "top of the World" resort in L.G. I was last up there around 1998 visiting with sis and mom. This event looks like a good reason to drive across the country! yaeh, talkin ************ i know! Dare me, moosens!

Play in tranny main shaft
I'm talking about replacing the transmission, not the shaft or the bearing. anyone else think a little play is okay?
-
Play in tranny main shaft
play side to side. wouldn't be a pain, car is under the knife, engine is out and now is the time to replace the tranny if need be. I would be interested if anyone out there has a tranny not in a car maybe you could see how tight the main shaft is for me.
-
Play in tranny main shaft
Should there be any play at all in the tranny main shaft? This is an ea81 4wd 4spd. I can wiggle it just a little. You can see it move, not just feel it. I thought it should be way tight. what say you? It was not making any noise while driving.

weber vacuum hookups on 77 ea71
kay thanks, that about covers it. cept one more thing. the fuel-in line on a weber. you can run your fuel line in from the back or front? that sort of y shaped intake fitting is just a matter of where it is more convenient to run your fuel line? cause mine is on the front and i would rather run it into the back.

weber vacuum hookups on 77 ea71
hey thanks for the response. i can't look right now to say if there is the egr port on the weber. what if there is not? what should i do with that egr line? and what about the canaster stuff?

weber vacuum hookups on 77 ea71
since this board never gets tired of weber swap questions.... 1977 ea71, got the weber put on and would like to get all this vacuum stuff squared away. the car has a vacuum modulator seen in this pic: the modulator is right in front of the carb seat with four ports on the top (there is still a hose on the fourth port in this pic) and three ports on the passenger side. it's purpose is to simplify the hoses and while it does that, it also makes it harder to trace the vacuum system. i do have a diagram from the apropriate fsm, but it can't be trusted 100% because the modulator is different for MT, AT, high altitude, 4WD, etc... it does seem to jive for the most part, though. let's refer to the ports on the top of the modulator as 1 through 4, left to right AS THEY APEAR IN THE PIC. 1 through 3 went straight up to the carb in obvious fashion: my weber has one port, it's on the front near the base. i had it hooked to the disty advance on my other car. port #4 on the module doesn't worry me. it went to the side of the carb above the float bowl and it t'd off to the brake boost vac line. i capped it at the brake line. port #2 t'd off to the canister. is this the purge? do i run this into the pcv junction? the only other line between the canaster and engine goes straight into the manifold. where does the canaster collect from? what to do with the retard from the disty? what about the line from the egr that goes into the vac mod? and i have one vac port on the manifold capped where the costing bypass thing was, so i can use that if i need to.

1984 ea71 is dying, need help 1984
i know for sure that the exhaust from your ea71 will not bolt up to an ea81. i would say the same for the intake manefold, but i don't have first hand experience to say 100%.

ea81 strut rubber
does anyone know if you can still get this part from the dealer?
-
ea81 strut rubber
are the rubber top pieces the same on ea81 front wheel and 4 wheel drive struts? that is, can you use the rubber from a front wheel drive strut to build a four wheel drive strut?

help me identify this brat jumpseat
hey would somebody mind measuring the distance between brackethole on either a gen one or two? i wanna put this up for sale but would like to know what it is for sure before i do. like i said, they are 22inches on this one. thanks.
-
help me identify this brat jumpseat
thanks, hag. if you wouldn't mind measuring the two it would be great. the seat i have has the leather look (kind of like reptile skin?) so i'm guessing gen 1? actually the headrest has that finish as well.

intake to carb gasket (what material to use?)
actualy i never used anything but the rubbery gasket before and didn't have priblems. i did use a little hi temp silicone on the bottom for the water preheat issue.

intake to carb gasket (what material to use?)
what exactly is an anaerobic sealant? what i mean is what substances would work?

intake to carb gasket (what material to use?)
i'm putting a weber on my wagon and need to replace the gaskets on either side of the adapter. the ones i used before were kinda rubbery and pretty stiff. they came for this application and i assume are the thing to use. i have three kinds of gasket material i can cut new ones from, one is rubbery but seems almost like straight up rubber, like a thick piece of innertube. not as stiff as the ones i'm replacing, but just as thick. one seems like a cork and rubber composite, i don't think that is the one to use. the last is sorta paper like, brown in color. seems like it would be good to use, but i worry about it being too thin. the rubbery one seems the most like the ones that i had on before, but i didn't think rubber was what you should use there. any suggestions?
