  1. he's trying to find the year based on serial #. i would like the same thing. also can you tell by serial # if it's jdm? common somebody can do this! also can anyone id camshafts by the 2 digit # stamped on them?
  2. it totally depends which pug wheels you've got. some work w/ subaru lugs, some don't. find your wheels on this page: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/80s/wheels2/wheels.html and i'm sure somebody could tell you what you need.
  3. if you've got an external VR it's the gold colored box mounted on the passengers side of the engine bay next to your ignition coil. but i think by '83 they were inside the alternator.
  4. snooze you loose, boob. it's in my driveway. worth every penny, too.
  5. yes, the ea81 is the 1800 OHV. ea71 is the 1600 OHV. there were other OHVs, 1200,1300,1400, maybe even an 1100. i don't know their designations. ea82 was the OHC 1800 with timing belt driven cam. they were the engines in the 85-93? "loyale" era cars the ej series are the legacy/impreza era engines ej22=2.2 litre, etc. there was also the xt6 engine, the er27. the biggest point of confusion may be that from '85 - '89 in the usa, and later in some foreign markets. subaru was using ea82 and ea81 (in brats and hatches). also in some foriegn markets they put OHV engines in loyale era cars. i probobly just said more than you wanted to hear. hope it wasn't confusing. and in my opinion the OHV engines would be the most reliable and care free, but i don't have much experience with newer cars.
  6. i have a friend in hygien who would prolly want it. i'll pm you.

  8. don't you love how you can hear it sucking the air?!
  9. hey i may well want it. any idea of the cost? i could prepay it and maybe pick it up this summer or i would do you a favour if you could ship it. how many miles are you from flagstaff?
  10. preferably from the fsm. can someone who has it send a scan to me at meatpile@earthlink.net. slow dialup, so keep that file size to a couple megs or less. PLEASE can you help me. thanks, john
  11. did anyone find these? i'm being told that the mastercraft ones were also discontinued.
  12. you really should check with your states emmission folks (i assume connecticut tests emissions) to find out what you are required to have on your make and model. for example in colorado a 1980 1800 hatch is only flagged for air injection. so i was able to legally remove all the other stuff. this info i got by making a couple phone calls and having them run my vin.
  13. here is all i can find. http://img284.echo.cx/img284/4016/srx4jk.jpg
  14. i have the brochure that i mentioned. remind me if i haven't posted it in a couple days (i gotta scan it first.)
  15. srx had the dual carbs 1600 stock. i thought it was for the euro market, as i first saw it in a german brochure mick gave me. your pic there looks like it's from japan, eh?
  16. i've had good results with mothers
  17. crawling gears skid plates bumpers push bars spare tire mounts
  18. does it look like this? http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/80s/pushbar/pbar-s1.jpg these bolt to the tow hooks and then there are 2 straight hangers that take the weight of the push bar. you should see 2 bolt holes, one on each side of the bar. most people run the hanger from there to the bumper bracket.
  19. i recently looked into rebuilding an lsd, and the kits are no longer being sold as such. it was not economical to buy the individual clutch plates either, but that was here in the u.s.
  20. that doesn't look quite right. it may be the holly weber 5200, wich i think will be less powerful. it is a very similar carb and will work on a soobie, but it's not quite the same as a weber 32/36 dgev (or av the one in the pic has water choke like av. i say go with ev the electric choke) i had problems with hitachi carbs for YEARS! i am nothing but happy with my weber.
  21. car will run smoother. choke problems dissapear, more power, mileage will be better or remain the same, most of those hoses don't need to be hooked up, you will just take them off. it will sound better and look cool. what else? do it.
  22. my side of the story is in the meet and greet thread here: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?p=275306 3.2 beer is easy to find in moab. cheap hotels and hookers are not.
  23. here's a pic of joel: http://img238.echo.cx/img238/5531/00004613ra.jpg glad you made it home otay. i will reiterate it was an ef'n good time. we'll be back soon i am sure
