Interior Destruction - Not for the Subie Squeamish (PICS)
that was good. my old roomate had that dog(well one just like it) It was next to impossible to train and demanded constiant attention or it would go on a shredding rampage. It was not stupid by any means it just needed alot of training. sadly he had no time for it due to newborn baby and had to turn it in to the pound. my current Dog Gilby (yeah the sleepy guy in my avatar) has never given me any problem with chewing on stuff with the exception of one incident when he first came home. he is a rescued pit and is very greatfull to have a good home. it all comes down to training and responsible owners. as for the interior of the car well that too bad. your sister owes you big time.

17" wheels and tires WRX
rallyruss replied to rallyruss's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXgood point. the current tires have it too but due to the poor fit it pulls the "rim protector" in and lets the wife curb the wheels anyway. tire rack recomends the 225s rather than the 215s I think the logic behind the 215s was if the car were to be lowered it would not rub. thats not an issue as we dont intened to lower it.

RX modification info
wow thats some cool stuff. I have done a good deal of those mods already or at least have dreamed of them. If someone finds that those parts are available still I will flip out. That would be too cool.

17" wheels and tires WRX
rallyruss replied to rallyruss's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXthanks Jamal, I have run the ASX tires on my 87 gl10 for a few years now and love them. they seem to be the best bang for the buck in my opinion. I did manage to cause an internal tire seperation once but that was due to flying thru a washout at 55 mph. my fault not the tires. I have not had time to check what the rim width is as its the wifes car and she is always on the move. I can tell just by looking at the fit that the tires are too narrow though. looks like some crazy euro style B.S. I think I will get some ordered as soon as i save up some "spare" cash.

17" wheels and tires WRX
My wifes subaru has a set of 17" Rota wheels with 215/45 r/17 bridgestone potenza RE750 mounted. This is how we bought it. The road noise is like a roar in this car on the crappy california roads. also the tires appear to be stretched to fit the width of the rim. This allows the rim to get curbed during my wifes parking manuvers. I am looking at a set of Khumo asx 225/45R17 for the next set. any one have similar problems or fixes?

High Flow Fuel Pump?
you may not have a code set depending on the failure type. with the ECS light coming on before I would suspect the ignition module. go check spark and then get back with your results in a new thread. Im sure we can help you out.

High Flow Fuel Pump?
well if you had read the thread fully you would not get flamed. there is no install kit that I know of that will work properly. I had to piece mine together.(no I dont have part numbers beyond the pump itself) you "Think" your pump died? maby you should go trouble shoot it first before you decide to start modifing things. on a side note I changed one of those ford frame mounted pumps recently it is not a direct bolt on either. It would require some creative plumbing to make it work as well. Its only slightly cheaper than the Walbro but not as good quality.

Bay Area Meet... Early May?
meeting with the forester crew would be cool....or If you want roads down here to run I would sugest mount Hamilton as thats my home turf (and I happen to know the one cop that patrols it:burnout:) we could run from highway 5 up and over. or from my side back. just a thought for those of you who may want to go a bit faster on some twisties. I dont care really its up to Brian as he started this thread and Is putting forth the most effort.

Please Help 5-lug Conversion!
So if you all will allow a slight hi jack here. I just finished installing some new stock 2wd struts on the front of my car and adjusted down the rear custom coil overs. well car looks great but rides rather poorly. way too soft in front and too stiff in rear. that said I will be on the hunt for XT6 5 lug swap parts soon. Mostly just to get a better selection of struts. Now here is my question for those of you running the 5 lug. what struts did you use, why and did they perform like you want them too? Thanks guys,

No power past 4grand.
I dont quite folow the logic. An EA82T being a turbo car has lots of heat to deal with for sure. Brian has an intercooler and a (hopefully) higher flow exhaust. His car should be able to wind out to red line with no problem. my wagon has its max power between 3500 and 7500 rpm with the mods it has. My RX is still rather untested as its not legally registered but short test runs have shown plenty of power above 4000 RPM. brians car would seem to have an actual problem not a design limitation.

If it helps I have a spare gutted down pipe that you could have.

91 loyale skid plate/brush bar? help!
loyals are usually EA82 spfi motors as for the brush guard and skid plate. the EA82 cars (like yours) did have a simple skid plate stock. your car has none? then you need to look for one or fab up a real heavy duty one as the stock one is easily sdmashed on big rocks. Bumpers can be fabed by a good welder. I made my brush guard out of steel and its not much heavyer than the stock bumper.

No power past 4grand.
8" gash in the cat!!! that sounds like the first place I would check. Cats that get damaged tend to break up and plug up the flow. remove it and take it for a quick straight pipe run. see how it does. that fuel pump was fairly new when I got that car. fuel filter pluged?

No power past 4grand.
fuel starvation? pluged exhaust? does it build up boost pressure? really sounds like its starving for fuel.

Bay Area Meet... Early May?
I vote for the first saturday in may. I dont care where. I can drive. my wife will still be out of town so she wont care what im doing. But as soon as I get my truck running I need to run out to New Mexico to pick up an RX and some parts that are being held for me by a very patient board member. that is my first priority. so in the unlikly event that the truck happens to run right before that weekend you will have to count me out. How much money and effort would you put in to your car? 5 grand?
my wagon is now well over the 5000$ mark. I purchased it for 500$ go figure. of course its almost as fast as my wifes WRX now but has 245,000 miles on it. dont remeber all the prices but stuff done to the car. rebuilt motor new 2 row rad. all hoses belts tune up parts and fluids(a couple of times now) 15" pugs and tires(after 14 pugs and tires) superpro bushings multiple strut combinations brakes and axles tint material for fabed bumper, stress bar and roof rack TD04 turbo and WRX intercooler with silicone hoses custom parts to fab exhaust and up pipe(twice) XT alt. rebuilt p.s. pump and XT steering rack sterio equipmet turbo traction wagon seats walbro fuel pump turbo timer/boost gauge boost control oil cooler/lines optima batt rebuilt distributor electric cooling fan oem fuel sender all new bearings and the biggest thing the TIME it took me to keep messing with this stupid car. any one want to buy it now that I have dumped all my free time and cash into it? if you dont buy It it will just end up with an RX transmission and more mods soon.

Code 21???? with PICS!!!
sometimes I am just a cheap bastard and only change the conector (same as bosh fuel injector available at most parts stores) and clean the connections as that usually what the problem really is. listen to caleb for directions on how to find it. removal of you intake pipe may help to acess it better. I had an old thread on fixing this if you dig around for it.

nice coooool car
thats not hard to do for the right price:brow: I have a welder.

Hydraulic hybrid technology!
a justy motor might be a small enough power plant to pull it off. sounds like fun. I deal with hydraulics at work. It seems complicated but its not all that hard to work with. If you can grasp electrical you will do great with hydraulic. personally I would use a small Yanmar Diesel out of a little John deer mower. they already have pumps ect usually. variable displacement pumps are the most eficient but also are the most veunerable to contamination in the hyd. system. just somthing to consider.
