  1. Welcome, Got a picy of da brat ?? :-D I just love looking at them :-| Hope I get over it soon!
  2. I didn't really mean to say anything bad about the baja exept for how Subaru made it the Brat replacement. I think the baja has its uses, and I think so would a new Brat (fun, fun and more fun :-D) I'm glad your enjoying your baja .
  3. Forester_Ranger there wicked! I don't really like the covers on them tho, hard tonneu's arn't my thing and cabon tihng's an't either. But there still cool.
  4. If I made Subaru make one of these I would have to get them to give me one! Cos theres no way in hell I could afford it. Do you think I should make an appointment with Subaru? If I lived in the states I'd be at the Subaru factory door and wouldn't back off till I was promised they'd make one! I love my brat, but I'd love a new one even more! If it had a 6" lift, bullbar, rollbar, 6 spotties, and some serious wheels! Maybe, just maybe they'll be nice to me, and make a new brat! Enough with the !!!... OK!
  5. My idea came form thinking of how the first brat was made. It was a uted wagon. So, instead of doing what subaru done with the Baja, I created the "new" Brat with the "New" wagon. I think I got most of the old design features. Like the inbuilt rollbar in the roof, the same shape to the doors and behind the doors, still keeping the light design off the WRX wagon. And also increasing the rear end behind the rear wheel arch. I'll be mailing some pictures to subaru as soon as I can print them out and find a address! Now thats a car I would drive!!! Edit: Nice one TROGDOR! What is the point in having a dual cab on a ute anyway! I'll also ad that I only used MS Paint and Ulead iPhoto Express (the free scaner software I got).
  6. Thanks guys!. Heres what I promised Mykeys Toy. The rear tyre didn't come out very well. Anyway, I had to widen the mud gards for this one. I hope you like it!
  7. I messured the carbies. They are 55mm on the inner top of them. (does that make any sence to you?) Does this mean there 55mm webers? or did i messure the wrong thing? Would a Mr. Gasket Mallory Promaster coil #28720 do the job? I can get one off a friend, What would a second hand one be worth? I would love to tell you what they are, what was done. But that;s how I got the subie. I know a subaru mech done it up, and all the previous owner could tell me was it had bigger valves put in it... Its not going as well as when I got it a few months ago. It keeps burning out old spark plug wires ...
  8. I was doing some picture editing last night. I am kinda annoyed at the Subaru Baja. So I thought that my version is better. Heres a seriers of pictures that show you what I tried to do. Oh, and try to wait for the hole post to load before scrolling down. What the beast looks like. What they done. What I would of done. What I done it out of. The lifted one, as requested below :-p I hope the ppl I used the pictures off of don't mind. If you do, I'll take 'em down. And for the mods. I know this is a post with "new" subies in it, but I think its more appealing to us old brat and brumby lovers. Please don't move this post. Thank you.
  9. my subie page is here I'm not sure if there 32mm. I'll have a look in the morning and post here again. Has anyone put a pod filter on a subie carbie set up? Any pics? Any thing on the lift? Do i need to change anything for another inch of lift? I'll get a picture of the shocker mounts in the morning too.
  10. sure will. Any others? like Bosch? can't seem to find Accel here in Aus
  11. What I have is a 89' Brumby/Brat with twin weber carbies, performance cam, bigger valves, 2" exhust, 2" lift. I plan on upgrading the stock air filter to a home made foam filter with a rex like scoop on the bonnet. I need to get two pipes that would fit to the carbies and connect on to a alloy box which will be where the spare wheel normally goes. I also plan on getting some new 9mm spark plug leads with some iridium spark plugs. Also thinking of a better coil, what should i look for? I'm thinking of putting another inch of lift on the rear, I am looking into building 3" solid alloy blocks and replacing the square tube thats been used. Will I need to do anything to the shocker mount?
  12. I think theres only one problem with putting in a EG33. That is I'm from Australia, and I'm pertty sure us Aussie's never got the SVX. EDIT: But theres always imports i guess
  13. Thanks guys. I think I'm going to need to get bonnet scoop and pod filter(s) (or is there a better type of filter I should get?) first. I really want power at the low end RPM as I don't want to be burning my clutch out too fast. I really feel my EA81 picks up at about 3200RPM And really pulls along. Would a EJ22 do a hole lot for off-roading in my Brat? Or should I just keep trying to get my EA81 better? It would be really good to know what my EA81 has in it, but the guy I got the car off of didn't really have much of a clue when it came to to the engine. He just said he got it souped by a subaru wrecker. I think I know which one, maybe I'll ring them and ask what they done. Just found this. Can anyone read that??? Does this kinda say anything? What the guy i got the car off of said I've put in my sig. I wonder if its true. I've only ever driven one subaru, I guess I'll have to check out how some others drive to compare. Still not sure if i should do an engine swap.. PS, there Aus prices The guy who modded the engine offerd $1500AUD for the engine just by its self. I thought that must make it have something in there  Thanks again.
  14. I am looking into what EJ engine to using in a Brat. I'm looking for lots of power around 1500 to 2500 RPM. Which EJ engine has the most torque at that low RPM? What would a pod filter do to a EA81'a power with a few mods (check my sig)? Can you get different cam's for different power placing? Does many people change there cam for offroading? I belive I have a modded cam in my EA81, I found that I get a real kick of power at about 3000RPM. Is that normal? Thanks.
  15. Thats a great post ballitch. You trying to up that post count huh?? Well, I don't know oh any adaptor either, but it sounds like a lok of fun. What does the vortec come out of, show you how much I know :-\. And no!, I'm not just trying to get my post count up, I really want to know what this vortec is :-p I need to get into the making things world, sounds fun!
  16. I'm getting a new pipe and new coolant, should be good.. I hope. What about the other questions?
  17. wow.. I am lucky my ute came with a manual for it Good going, and as the guy above said, get 'em a box o chocies!
  18. I don't understand those ppl who spend $$$$ on there pretty little lights, paint, 120dB+ audio and then just talk about the top speed they can pull (with "A Weighting") Like whats the point in puttin audio stuff in a car if you want to drag it??? Like , GET A LIFE. And whats the point in having a car that can do 180MPH+ when it only has a 6second+ 0-60MPH... I say drag 'em, piss on them, AND LAUGH BACK! Sorry, I just had to let that out :-\
  19. First. I have a 89 Brumby/Brat with 2" lift with torsion bar rear suspension. I found that there is a nut for adjusting the rear torsion bar tension. I managed to get the bolt to go round about twice (lifted the car up 7mm on the rear) Then it went tight but theres plenty more thread left on the bolt. How far can this bolt raise the rear of the car? Theres about 13mm to 16mm left of thread on the bolt sticking out the top of that cover thing in the middle of the car. Second. Is there anywhere under the hood of an EA81 subie that can supply 5 to 7 volts. I want to set up an on board bumper camera, but the one i have needs like 6volts. Do i need to just get a regulator, or is there somewhere with this voltage? Third. The left rocker cover is making a ticking noise. I think its the tappets. Can i fix this while the engine is in the car? Fourth. When I put the engine back in after changing the thrust bearing I got a water pipe leak on the bottom of the radiator. I didn't think it was leaking much, but it on a short trip down to the shops and back the temp got a little higher then I would like, almost at the red :-\. Then about 10senconds before i stoped in my drive way a rattle started, but only under power. (It doesn't do it now) I found that the radiator had almost emptied!! and I was running on like a litter of coolant!! Will the engine be fine? What might of happened? Did I just shorten its life by a few KM's? I feel really bad, I'm gonna fix probs when I find them in future. Thanks for any help.
  20. I just changed my thrust bearing, or what you might call a throwout bearing, the other week. I only have a 2" lift so I just took the radiator out and unbolted the engine off the gearbox. It was easy to get off but once fix and putting back on was a litte harder. I had the engine hanging on a rope from the carport and I then lifted the gearbox onto the engine. Was a little hard, and a two person job. Does the noise only happen when the cluch peddle is at down? If so its deffentley the thrust bearing. If it happens all the time, It might be the big end bearing? I have half a clue about engines, but my knowlage only goes so far, till i ask my dad :-\ You could try using a jack to jack the gearbox and a rope or chain to hole up engine, with the radiator out pull the engine off the box changed the bearing and put it all back together
  21. I have a Brumby/Brat that has an Leone dash (for the tacho mainly, I think, I didn't put it in.) the voltmeter reads about 11.5V's most of the time (multimeter reads 13.8V off the battery), the tempmeter doesn't move from 0 unless I rev the engine alot, the oilpresure meter does the same as the tempmeter and the speedo reads higher then I'm going, which isn't too bad as I'm putting bigger tyres on it for offroad so it might get back in to the right speed. What can I do the fix the gadges reading low expet the speedo?
  22. ahhh. I like the look of the two pipes better :-p Looks better form the front with lift kit That one still looks sweet. Get a audio clip of it and post it here Good luck with it all.
  23. I'll see how soon I can get a sound clip of my brat/brumby, Will post later! Now, to download some of these clips
