  1. pays to replace all those hoses at the same time, and take the manifold off to do the one that goes under, then u know its on properly
  2. bear in mind that that is only true if you dont need the wastegate actuator to line up with the holes. to get mine where i wanted it, I had to modify the bracket.. cut and shut it.
  3. so are these 'delta' cams, ground for N/A use?? if so why do you use them on a turbo motor. also, does anyone know for sure if the jap spec cams are different to US.
  4. mine was being a right bastard too, but i sprayed it from all angles with inox (a water dispersant ) and after letting it sit for ages, it slid right off,
  5. its street legal as long as the foot isn't planted in 2nd gear and its wheelspinning all over the road haha . it does look rather amusing
  6. haha yea, the old RX chassis, in stock form is a little inadequete btw , anyone else find with the constant box, (with open center but rear lsd) .. full throttle around a corner with a reasonable amount of grunt.. in the rain = snap oversteer? :-p
  7. yea absolutly love the dualrange , i was so so so so stupid to buy a lib(legacy) without it... i didnt realise till after that the Gen2 lib (legacy) had an optional dual range.. i DEFINATLY would have not bought it and waited for something that did have it instead! its so awesome , ive tried "accidently accelerating at the same time as another car" in low and high range, and u can sometiemes use it to ur advantage
  8. holy crap ! i had no idea u had any turbo SOHC EJs . I kinda wish we did here then i could turbo my N/A legacy (liberty) simply, without swapping to an EJ20 MOrganM: thats funny, i accidently ended up on efnets subaru channel the other day, and was talkin to some guy with a wrx. (im normally in #subaru on austnet) , might autojoin on both servers
  9. yea he's coming on the board soon as i remember to link him hah, his car was up for sale but its being retuned with a new ECU now so... PS... 160hp for the turbo legacy???? what the?. they were just shy of 200 here and would be more likely to make 130hp on a chassis dyno, so how the hell are they making that same sorta figure if the cars are 'stock' you must have weird 4wd dynos over there :-p , or someones pulling a leg with the 160 business
  10. Whos car? interesting graphs btw, how much crank HP does a turbo legacy have over there?? about the only "bone stock" wrx ive seen to make 160hp is an 03 model,
  11. well a stock WRX tends to pull between 95-110kw , the higher being typical of a 'shootout' run, so because of that im leaning more towards 200. but again it hadnt peaked. giving us not 1 but 2 points of speculation next monday i can hopefully get a spot on the dyno again to fix that lean out ( to answer your question it's a simple matter of changing the fuel map on the microtech ECU ) , and if it hits 100kw ill be happy with that. and happy to say it has at least 200 at the fly.
  12. doh, i meant to say around 200 not 220 , ill edit it 126 at the wheels , the graph isnt meant to back up that statement . as theres no peak figure , and u have to speculate drivetrain losses because no one ever agree's with eachother, and dynos differ from place to place THAWA: Vf12 (RHB5) , works pretty well, not to much lag
  13. well if it helps, I have 'around' 200 [< edit sorry] , now , with stock cams (but a jap motor so i still dont know if they differ), aftermarket ECU , FMIC, header, larger turbo, and about 12-14psi (made 94kw at all four at 12psi but was quite obviously going to make more if not for for aborting the run) . speaking of which here is the graph finally . 4th gear, 4WD . aborted early.. note the air-fuel ratio and youl see why essentially you shouldnt need to touch the cams IF they are the same, especially since im only pushing "relativly" low boost. Holding 15-16psi all the way to redline should be fine before you start having to push crazy amounts of boost and not get any meaningfull gains in output so perhaps stage one could involve not having to touch the motor at all.. ?
  14. nice work and yes, what is lot's of boost ?
  15. your not givin up on that one are you who do u actually want to answer the question?
  16. ive only seen an ER27 in person once being in oz and all, and the first thing that hit me was how it was more like a hybrid EA -EJ engine externally (incl cam belt setup), i expected them to be prettymuch exactly an ea with 2 more cyls :/ even the fuel rail was completely different much more like an EJ. thats gotta be fun for replacment parts haha. at least ur in the states (i assume)
  17. is it not illegal over there? , on the street
  18. hopefully the dynosheet for one is coming in a week or so when it gets retuned with a new ECU, ill point him to the topic.
  19. im sorry, but this staggered throw business is a total non issue for the purpose of this convo.. besides it hasnt hindered anyone increase power in the EJ20 in big ways. so , once again. we are not talking about 500 600 700 800hp, we are talking about 300 at the most, and its been done before, and its not a problem. besides, DR.RX u pointed out that it becomes more of a problem with more cyls... I can see how that could have relevence if the clys fire one after the other, but when you only have 2 cyls per bank, i simply dont see it as an issue. but if it is.. its not a problem here. besides without using this arangment it wouldn't be balanced. as we know on the topic tho, i was under the impression the latest EJs in 2004 libs have a different firing order. . .
  20. ok , so if you prefer short stroke big bore engines... then why is it hard to achive power without increasing capacity... i dont see any other weak point in the boxer configuration... im not talking specific engines here now.. just the boxer configuration vs inline , or V. and yes lets get along
  21. DR. RX : I agree with your theories and whatnot, but I dont quite understand your idea that its hard to make HP out of a boxer.. the only thing i can see that bugs you is the undersquare nature of the engine.. thats fine, but that dosn't stop people getting 500hp from an un stroked EJ20T.. and if it is stroked, only enough to raise capacity to 2.2L. some of the bigger strokers, up to 2.4L in some case get way beyond that, the toughest EJs around here have between 400-500+ HP at all 4. well more than that at the engine as im sure u can work out. BTW i wish we could quote power at the wheels for these conversations, it would make things so much simpler. for the record a STOCK 2Litre STI (not the 2.5s we dont get them here! damnit. ) , will pull around 185-200HP at the wheels depending on dyno and mode.
  22. who is comparing an EA to an EJ??? *looks around* , no one i can see. certainly not me. im not stupid. if i was doing that, id have to start hunting for dynosheets with twice the power.. ill get u at least 1 sheet when i can, its a chassis dyno , so ul have to guess engine output. perhaps ill just send him to this topic, there is an engine dynosheet floating around aswell, ill find it for you , from europe, 178kw i think it was, internally stock motor. ive got a dyno printout from my car too, unfortunatly it started pinging so had to jump off the go pedal b4 it peaked , u can look at it for interests sake if it makes u happy.
  23. haha some of you guys are hilarious, your talking like there is no 300+hp EA82s out there.. we are talking about engine.fly HP arnt we? surely? its not that much hp these days, i know of several with that sorta mumbo, a friend owns 1, the others are in europe, welcome to the world of big turbos big intercoolers, highly flexible managment, u can get what used to be considered a lot out of an engine' u wouldnt normally consider possible, dont you guys have hot ET pulsars over there? (e15T motor) , over here, theres several with up to 200kw ATW, thats at a guestimate 250+kw (330hp) at the engine , im sure ppl would have laughed at any1 trying to do that with an ET motor several yrs ago.. id love to see more hot RXs around, but unlike pulsars and the like, there arnt many around here! ur lucky to see one. it really surprises me, i must say, that u guys are so pessimistic :-\ and ill finish by asking RX doctor i think it is.. what on earth do you think is needed to be done ot the engine that costs 6000 USD if your building the motor yourself.. to handle 300hp , hell even if the short motor was built by someone thats a lot of money! .
  24. i personly dont see why its such a crazy Idea, 300 engine hp isnt that bigger ask at all with some beefed up internals, there shouldn't be any need for further argument on that one. btw, u dont need to touch cams or anything to do 250fly hp , everything u need for that is bolt on, u wouldnt want to do constant WOT style racing with it tho.. for piston duribility issues , but as far as getting air in and out itl flow 250 no prob on fairly high boost. pls note im basing this on a jap engine, i dont know what sort of cams the US models ahv,e or wheather they're different for that matter.
