  1. I will not be saving it, time to move on. I should be picking it up from the shop this week and then it goes up for sale. I'll let you know once I've done so, but I really appreciate the suggestions and support.
  2. Yeah, be sad to see it go for sure. It was the bare bones model too. No power locks, windows, or steering for that matter. No A/C, and missing some "appearance" parts when I got it. I've pieced it together over the years, so it looks a ton better than the day I limped it home from the auction. I got a bunch of parts from the boneyards too to keep it going, mostly the non engine stuff that just wears out. Extra front/rear bumpers, tailights, headlights, marker lights, interior trim pieces, a few spare cargo covers, all those small plastic/nylon parts that break, power window assembies (the electronic parts, for moms car).......plus a ton of other misc. parts. Ill keep most of the car intact and try to sell it cheap for anyone who might try to save it. But if no takers after 2 weeks of listing, I'll then strip it and salvage the rest. It wasn't pretty, but it sure gave me all it had where others had failed many years ago.
  3. My loyal 340,000+ miles 1986 Subaru GL has finally gave out. I was on the freeway when the head gasket blew and ended my cars long career. I have had this car for over 25+ years, and got it from an auction for $200 at the time. It wasn't pretty, but it was my baby........ I'll be stripping some of the parts for moms 1985 Subaru GL, and then sell the rest of the car for parts afterwards. It will be the whole car (whats left anyway) or it goes to the boneyard. Sad day for me, I loved this car...
  4. Good thing it wasnt a 85, lots of interior changes on that one single year.
  5. I tried to get mine off years ago, and finally did with some persistance. But......... Years of being applied has somewhat etched the design into the paint itself. Even after I got it off, the indentations were still there. I did apply a new sticker over it, but it was a real pain in the ...
  6. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/158-introducing-subaru-brat-wrx-sti/ I see the AMT 1/25 Subaru Brat model kit has been re-released, which hasn't been available in years! But the link above shows a cool mod that looks cool as .... Just wanted to share with you guys!

  8. https://seattle.craigslist.org/tac/pts/d/port-orchard-subaru-brat/6910934957.html Just trying to help you Brat guys out, saw this on my local Craigslist today. $200 for the whole car!
  9. Mine is pretty much all there, only replaced the front and rear bumpers, and the front corner marker lights. Other than that, still going strong on 342,000 miles on the engine.

  12. Are you guys having the same problems with the plastic coupler on the front turn signal bulb housing deteriorating and unable to connect to the lens? I try to grab as many good ones as I can when visiting wrecking yards, but they are getting hard to come by lately. So my question is, are there other Subaru models that share the same connector I could splice in if necessary?
  13. Dumbest thing I did was take my roof racks off at a manual car wash station..........and forgot to put them back on before leaving. I didnt realize it until a couple days later.........uh oh. But, I thought I should go back and hope for a miracle they were still there. Luckily, they were still where I sat them down......days later. What a lucky SOB I was, whew!

  15. OK, I FINALLY got mine installed......and they look as I had hoped. Mom's car will be next, and my new epoxy rings work great! I am extremely pleased with the overall results. Nothing too fancy, but work as intended. I even used silicone underneath to help keep them on.
  16. OK, got my first set of replacement metal center covers......look fantastic! These are for moms car.
  17. I have those same white rings, but they didn't work.......too narrow. The original ones had a wider opening that slipped over the rim itself. Here's a couple pics of my new one I replicated, and I painted it to give it more durability from the elements. I used my best original ring, fixed it up cosmetically, and molded it.........this is the result. I also picked up these replica center cap covers to match mom's blue 85 Subaru wagon. I'll post pics once it's all installed. Mom wont let me touch the rims themselves though, just clean them up is all.
