  1. It was actually really low, a few of us ran it earlier that week.
  2. Body Lift? custom block type deal? or more suspension? and what size tires are you going to stuff under it when you get it up there?
  3. So a while back i switched to synthetic oil.... some people told me it would cause leaks.. some told me to ignore the other people, so i went for it... today i noticed that i have a leak from the passenger side valve cover.... d'oh.. maybe i'll have to switch back to good ol' napa oil
  4. 2" hole saw, vice, clamps, drill press
  5. So over spring break we were in the New River Gorge for a while (West Va), and while driving out we came across this trail, that obviously needed to be driven on, so away we went. It was pretty easy going, a little mud here & there, a few stream crossings.. nothing spectacular in the offroad sense, but we got some awesome views of the gorge, and the bridge above us! My car looked so naked without the roofrack & light bar... . It was a good time, perfect day out, i just didn't want to break the subaru 700 miles from home so we didn't go much further
  6. More Pics, here are the verticals all fishmouthed up, i don't think anything will be welded up till the end of the semester though. too much school.. not enough time to weld stuff
  7. .12" or roughly 1/8" wall.... i'll edit this post with some pics in a little bit, gonna bring it in from the car, got the verticals all cut up.
  8. i've read that an impreza can pull 140 something... with a 2.2L but that's just something i've read.. not sure it's validity
  9. make yourself a tube bumper, they look mean, and well.. are just plain old hard core
  10. I guess you've got a point if i had that sort of rig i'd drive it offroad more than the impreza rock on! great pics!
  11. Alright, i've got a few questions for the peoples here. 1a) what do you all use for shackle mounts? what thickness steel? 1/2", or 3/4" stock? or do you just buy them? and from where? 1b) How do you measure what sizing of shackle you have.. mine has a 3/4" screwy part.. the rest is 1/2"... would that make it a 1/2" shackle? 2) Where can i get steel hardened? My skidplate is going to be rediculous, mauhaahah.... 1/8" hardened steel should do the trick... i'm going to form it up in it's mild state, then try to harden it...
  12. use bungy cords to keep it up out of the way
  13. zapar, why didn't i see the impreza out there?
  14. you might run into problems... i know at least in the newer Outbacks, 05' -06' ish that the head unit is part of the heater control also... One of my buddy's has a new outback.. might be an 06, and he couldn't change the head unit... because it's all one circuit board in there... no good. :-\

I'd take a subaru over a suburban and day, on road or off.. although i don't pull huge loads... subi's do great in low traction situations... because they weight nothing... compaired to your huge truck there. Lift a subi, throw some big tires on her, and away you go!

Bulid yourself a snorkle.. all you need is some pvc... pvc cement, silicon stuff... it's a good time.. a heat gun will help alot if you want to bend the pvc. Other than that, seal up the disty real good, and have a good time
  17. I used a cheapo Harbor freight bender, worked perfectly! 12 ton jack seemed to do the trick. this weekend i think i'm going to make some vertical supports, light mounts, liscence plate mount.. get that all welded together, finnish welding the main supports.... i still need to find/make some shackle mounts...
  18. you can get bearing out w/ a hammer and a stick of metal if you're careful... i got through a bearing every say.. 40k miles.. alternates sides... i'm due for one right now.. it's starting to make noise.. .gonna get some new hubs this time i think.
  19. I wonder if it'd work on my 2.2L... running JP5 jet fuel
  20. if it is the parking brake thing, you could wire in a 2nd switch... because there's a little switch (that turns on the 'brake' light) that is depressed (opened/closed) when you move the parking brake lever... or you could even throw a switch on the main power to the headlights.. but that gets sketchy if you're drawing alot of amperage, and have a crappy switch... could be a nice mod if you make a fancy switch in the dash for it
  21. why fix the rockers? they just get in the way anyhow...
  22. And if the person in front doesn't have enough light, make sure someone behind them can throw light OVER the person in front i think you all were driving in your own shadow when i hit that switch.. muahahah.. makes me happy
  23. It's really easy, just crank off the axle nut, pop the pin out, loosen some stuff on the hub/strut and it pops right out. exactly the same as the legacy. you might want to get a punch or something for the pin.. i didn't i just PB Blaster'd the crap out of it, and then took my really bad drill bit set, and hammered one of those through to get the pin out (no not drilling.. just hitting it, with a LONG extension) the pass. side seems to be alot easier from the top side of the engine, where the drivers looks like it's be easier from under the car... eh.. that's my experience w/ em.
  24. I like the BFG All terrains, they're awesome in the snow (had them on my old car)
