I had one of those that I loved dearly ... enough to ship it from Hawaii when we moved to Montana. Mine didn't look that good tho' it was GM's special 'peeler blue' paint scheme. Onliest problem I ever had with that truck was a clogged fuel filter. Only reason I ever sold it was I needed 4WD, which is what got us back into Subarus ... in NW Montana, what else?

Going in the right direction for my "I want' beach car, just a little too far. Needs another 18" or so wheelbase, shorten the overhangs, ditch the front windows and cut the doors down 'a la Jeep ... and I'll take one please. OH, and left hand drive thank you.

I lifted our '95 Leg, and our '00 Leg. I replaced struts and springs on both, but not the control arms. Never had a problem with either. Search, there have been a number of others who have posted. Also, contact Jamie (Subiegal) for parts.

Nice, but I want the F-1 behind it, even if does have the wrong rear fenders.

I feel your pain, we had just done full front case on our '00 when it was totaled by another driver. USAA said exactly the same thing. It's standard industry practice.

Unless you have unresolvable issues with your current ride, or you have an unscratchable itch to make car payments, I would recommend you just keep the one you have and maintain it well. We had a '00 that we planned to drive forever, and only replaced with our '06 after it was totalled by a Grand Cherokee. We love the new Outback, and it certainly has more creature comforts that our previous (which started out as a Brighton), but pound for pound I can't say that it is substantionally any 'better' than our trusted Legaback. That said, I think any engineering issues related to the cars was resolved by the '05 series, so let your wallet be your guide.

Sheesh Gunner, you're in Oregon ... where Subarus are almost an unofficial state car. Go drive preci9ouses WRX, and you'll be listing your Fords (you can keep the F-150, Subaru doesn't make a truck, damn) in the local Nickle Trader. God choice, my adult daughter bought a Jetta TDI wagon, she would'a bought a Subie if the diesel was available in the US.

It's really quite simple, you can't use energy from a closed system to increase the efficiency of that same system. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_law_of_thermodynamics You have to extract energy from your fuel source to produce the electrical energy to fracture the water to obtain the hydrogen and oxygen, the result will ALWAYS be negative. It can't be otherwise in this universe. I'm no Aircraft Engineer, but I am an aircraft driver, so liste to the prios kiddies, not the hucksters. I firmly believe that hydrogen is the ideal automobile fuel, because it is ENTIRELY non-polluting, but you can't make it on board. We need an entirely new infrastructure, including paving about 1/2 of AZ, NM and SoCA with solar cells to make non-polluting electricity to make the hydrogen to run the cars ... and BTW they won't be IC, they will be fuel cell electrics. The sooner we start the better. Think wheel motors in each hub to create your AWD. Light, simple and entirely wheel-specific controllable. Oh, did I mention 100% torque from the minute you step on the 'gas'?

No worries, I can spel I jest can't type worth a damnnn. Check your coolant level at the radiator (with the engine cool) not the resevour. Smelling on start-up would seem to indicate a cold leak, that then cooks the coolant. also does it smell when you are driving hard and hot, and using the A/C and other accessories that work the engine harder? Not unusual to smell things in the cabin and not under the hood.

"My daughter thinks it smells like burning maple syrup.," That is the typical, nay 'classic' definition of coolant leaking and hitting a hot surface, like an exhaust manifold. I would start looking for coolant loss, perhaps around the head on the drivers side. I thought Subaru got the head gasket leaks resolved, but his just might ba an esternal HG problem. Check you coolant level, look for staining in the are you smell the odor, and take it back to the dealer, it's THEIR problem not yours on an '08. weasels :-\

Are we talking about wind noise coming from the frameless glass contact with the roof and 'A' pillar seals? If so there is a fix. 1. Roll down window 2. Position repairperson between open door and car body 3. Grasp rear view mirror housing firmly 4. Gently bend the housing inward, no yanking, just slow steady pressure 5. Repear steps 1 thru 4 on opposite front door. Test drive, repeat if necessary. BTW, nice part of the country you all live in! :-)
