Wecome! Search first, ask later. There is a bit of stuf in this subforum alone.. from intercoolers to bigger turbos and better fuel management.

The solenoid that runs the lock is probably worn out. The placement is a little odd though. two of my GL-10s (including my current one) have had a problem with the exact same lock.

How rare are the Gl-10 sedan?
calebz replied to Gl-boost's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
It kind of is a custom thing... The vert was not a factory option. It was a dealer installed promo. there are only a few.. I found one in a yard in Tacoma a few years ago.. IIRC, Richie has it in portland now. -

rubber rocker pannel trim on the GL10?
calebz replied to Jack in Norfolk's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Not all GL-10s are turbo. (strictly talking EA82 GL10s here). Some are SPFI. As far as the rubber stuff goes, As far as I know, its a GL-10 thing. My 88 SPFI GL10 wagon had it. My 88 Turbo GL did not. Oh, and your friend's 91, if it is a 91, its a Loyale, not a GL (last GL was 89). Most of the loyale's were kinda stripped down models. Last turbo was in 90 I think .. though it could have been 91. -
You may very well be correct. My experience is limited to the TD04. Though I know the VF10-12 use the same exhaust pattern as the TD04..

intake od size and turbo outlet od size?
calebz replied to Gl-boost's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
This is something I should probably know, but honstly I have never looked. I eyeballed everything on both my main IC setups..lol I can tell you that conquest/starion soft pipes are the right size for the turbo outlet and and RX7 IC inlet -

Thats actually called a coupe.. hatch is the older body style. The turbo coupes everyone knows the best are the RXs -
The uppipe won't work because we don't have a seperate uppipe on the old cars What I did when I put the TD04 on my wagon.. Cut the uppipe flange from a WRX UP. cut the studs off the stock 'UP'. Weld the WRX flange flush to the stock flange. I also used a WRX DP, but it isn't quite an exact fit. had to deal with the trans xmember a little.

Timing Belt Covers - Yay or Nay?

Another one for no covers. I removed both front and rear covers last time the motor was out. -
rubber rocker pannel trim on the GL10?
calebz replied to Jack in Norfolk's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I wish mine woould just come off.. Trying to get them off without messing the door up is lame. But the RX side skirts won't go on without taking those stupid things off first. I have been neglecting my wagon.. when it gets back from the shop, I think I am going to finish ripping those things off and get the rest of my RX parts on there -

In my experience, while not actually rare, there do seem to be fewer GL-10 Sedans than wagons. I have had 4 GL-10 wagons.. whereas I have only had 1 sedan -
Hi Russ! Freak, I personally haven't done it, but I have seen a few threads about using a ford truck fuel pump as a nearly bolt on upgrade.. I'm willing to bet a search will find at least a couple good hits.

Saab 9000 intercooler to big.
calebz replied to Gl-boost's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
The 9000 IC is way too big to fit without some serious modification. It is too tall to be used as it was intended (FMIC) and too wide to be used as a TMIC A TII RX7 IC works quite well and is easily available on ebay for under $50 shipped. WRX and STi ICs work well too, and they have a larger cooling core -

It was just an extra perk you got when buying the top of the line. Oh.. and they are a serious pain in the rump roast to remove:mad: -
Any EA82/XT/XT6 rear caliper will work.. That should open your search options a little.
-
Most of the 1.8 to 2.2 swap stuff here is EA82 to EJ22.. In which case you can't use heads and othe engine based parts. It would probably be more helpful to people answering your questions is you gave more info about what you are doing (car, year, stuff like that)

I used one for an early 90s Honda civic CRX (Thanks to Skip for the tip) Fits decently out of the box. A little heat gun work and it would fit better.
