  1. What car? If its EA82, just go to the wrecking yard(the one in tigard should have one)and get a manual tranny driveline. While your at it, get the crossmember for a manual. The one for an auto serves as a rear crossmmember on a manual. not really necessary.
  2. Sad thing is, I have seen more Bajas than I have old GLs down here. Aside from my neighbors 65 mustang, I think I drive the oldest car in the city.. Aside from steve's turbowagons in dento(30 miles away) I have only seen 2 other EA82 cars, and one EA81.. That takes some getting used to Have seen a couple of OB, but only one plain legacy.. and he was here on vacation from out of state.. mind you, this is only in reference to McKinney, a little suburb of Dallas.. but still, with a population of 50,000, you would think there would be a few more Roos.. Oh well.. sure does make finding parts interesting.
  3. So you noticed all the soobs in CO. Its the only place I have ever been that I have seen as many soobs as there are in the NW. My mother in law lives in CO (granby), she drives a 00 OBW. This was quite an upgrade after many years in an 85 GL wagon. I just moved to the Dallas area from the Seattle area.. Its really weird, in WA, there are soobs everywhere. On the way to TX, I drove through CO to see my inlaws for a couple of days. Once again, Soobs everywhere. Now I live about 25-30 miles north of Dallas, and there are no soobs! It would be cool to arrange some sort of TX soob get together.. that way all 4 texas subaru owners could meet:lol:
  4. If you're getting a fixer upper house, invest in an old chevy. Find the right one, and you can spend 1,000 dollars on something you will be able to pass on to you children Mine has 350,000 miles on it and is still going strong. Also, it has never broken down on me. Nor did it ever break down on my dad who owned it before me Don't haul a bunch of heavy/large stuff in your poor little brat, and if you are working on an old or fixer house, as I have done, you will quickly find out what an inconvenience it can be to wait and pay to have stuff delivered. I tend to believe that those that think otherwise have never owned an old house. In a pinch, I have hauled sheetrock and plywood and all up on the roof of my turbowagon (brother was borrowing my truck). that was ok.. didn't have any problems. My thule rack almost seems to have been made for it:D .. However. I don't recommend doing this in large quantities:confused:
  5. C'mon steve.. you're the electrical wiz, and I know a bit about saabs. Between the two of us, we can figure out the Saab APC system.. oh yeah.. I found my Saab Haynes manual.. can't find the bentley though.. still in a box somewhere.
  6. If you are going to do the swap, please, please ,please don't waste a turbo car on it.. find yourself an SPFI car or carb car with a bad motor. unless your car is thrashed, it just wouldn't be right to kill a turbo car for this, when there are so many more nonturbo cars out there just waiting to go to junkyards because of something stupid like a blown headgasket or something
  7. Actaully, It is not marketing speak. There is a very real difference between 4wd and AWD 4wd is a 50/50 split front/rear power AWD is not. it varies via a viscous coupling the last year of the old bdy style is the 94 loyale. these came with single range 4WD.. as stated below, the last year of the D/R was 88 .. in the US anyway However, I belive that some of the first gen legacies were 4WD and not AWD. In that I am not positive though
  8. Looks good. Will take some getting used to, but I think it will work! My little chicken chopping avatar doesn't chop anymore though
