  1. 1- he's right.. My garage machine is a 700 celeron - runs trillian with 3 services just fine. 2 - Theres a complete parts list for the 5 lug conversion around here somewhere. Subru Tex wrote it originally 3 - Clayton, haven't decided what to do with the wheels yet.. They're in the garage.. Watchya got to trade?
  2. I remember that.. That was a lot of fun! Yeah.. there was a bit of pucker factor involved, but it was worth it..lol
  3. I did not cheat. I would never do such a thing.. I just.. uhh.. didn't do it the RIGHT way and use real subaru parts :-p Just for the hell of it.. Here is what it looked like when I drove it down from WA
  4. Required calling in favors and bribing friends. Normal stuff for parts acquisitions;)
  5. I have 20s front and rear.... between that and my springs, the car gets a little tailhappy occasionally, but its easy to control. I am a little more carefull in the rain, but then again, everyone else should be too;)
  6. 5 lug conversion. XT6 parts and aftermarket WRX adjustable springs account for the lug pattern and ride height AIM and MSN IM are in my profile. Catch me there and I'll answer any questions.
  7. The theory is 3-5 gains, smoother bottom end and easier IC plumbing. IC plumbing is the main reason I'm thinking of doing it. I'm not real happy with the Stock TB for IC plumbing.
  8. You are correct sir. BridgestonePotenza RE92s 20/55/16 Thank you:D Shhh.. don't tell Texas;)
  9. The turbo block will NOT give you more power. What it will do is allow for higher boost with lower chances of detonation. I like my N/A EA82T:D Back on topic.. The actual motor itself is the easy part. You also need the exhaust, xmember, wiring harness, ECU and other assorted things like MAF and such. Best to get the whole car for donor parts.
  10. You need the whole thing. its 3 pieces IIRC. on part hold injectors, one has coolant passages and the other is the throttle body and air passages. it will bolt on, but the harness plugs may be different, given that it is an 88 ( I know my 87 non spyder has different plugs than my 88 non spider) Thats about as much as I know. I have further questions about it as well (I have a spyder in my garage collecting dust) Are the alt and AC brackets different? What about the PS pump mounting?
  11. Found my Konig wheels didn't fit the way I wanted them to.. so I switched to WRX wheels. Don't look quite as cool, but they fit a lot better.
  12. First series of syptoms sounded like a front diff grenading.. beyond that, I don't know why you lost all forward motion even in 4wd..
  13. Why wouldn't it be the pump going out. Its not a real long stretch of the imagination that an old car thats been sitting may develop a bad pump. I replaced the one on my wagon for that exact reason. Surprise surprise, the noise went away.
  14. Check your PS fluid levels. Thats the sound the pump makes when levels are low or the pump is crapping out. Use Dexron to fill it up
  15. Just an off the cuff guess, I would say 1500 tops.. But I'm a cheapskate and would be hard pressed to pay more than 1500 for anything from the 80s:-p
  16. One thing to add.. No TCU on the old 3ATs
  17. Hey now, be nice to the white wagon.. I went to a lot of work to get the wheels, air dam and scoop on there:-p
  18. Most common symptom is clicking from the outer joint on accelleration and more spcifically around corners. Less common is DOJ failure, which in my experience manifests itself as a vibration very similar to an alignment problem.
  19. If you want go fast stuff, you have to make it yourself:D
  20. Thats a fairly accurate description of how the FWD 3AT shifted in my 88 Twagon.. It never got any worse, but it never got any better either:-p
  21. Timing belt. Easy fix, no damage done. Gotta love a subaru:D
  22. What sort of negative things have you heard about the MPFI system? YOu can turbo a crab car, or an SPFI car, but again, fuel delivery will probabably be an issues. Even the mpfi needs help in the fuel delivery are at high boost.. and it was made to boost. Imagine what it would be like on a system not made to support forced induction. Come over. We'll talk and I'll show you a few things.
  23. Sure. ANy exhaust shop can make whatever you want. (within legal limits of course)., Off the shelf? Not likely
