  1. Subiegal,,, jaime@chaplins.com = should be able to get one for you.Is your oil light flickering, at idle?? If not, I don't worry about it.
  2. I would only consider restoring it to original. Their prices, as you said, are high,, &&& getting higher!
  3. GREAT to see you got it going again,,, at a good price, too. Not too many parts from the old Justy fit the newer ones, especially body parts. An older parts car would be good for you. I have a '94 Justy, now, but drove an '88 for years . I sold it to a neighbor. When I sold it to him, 2 years ago, it had over 240,000 miles on it & he still drives it everyday!
  4. WOW! Great find! You might consider buying one of the newer ones & taking it home, for a parts car. [ if cheap enough] after awhile, they will send these cars to the crusher & they will be gone.
  5. You should be able to get a code to flash with the harnesses connected & the switch in the " on " position. I had one Justy with a bad computer that left the light on, but there were no codes stored. It ran great so I lived with it.You can buy an inexpensive 02 sensor, universal, that will work fine, by just splicing the wires. I, also, have cleaned one with carb cleaner & a brass brush, & that made it work properly. A poor 02 sensor will usally make it run rich, & gas mileage will plummet!
  6. After you have finished working on it , disconnect the battery for awhile & ALSO diosconnect the 2 plugs under the dash .If light comes back on, try to read the codes again, like previously described.
  7. Yipes! Mucho dinero$$$$$$$$. Many parts will probably have to be dealer supplied, to get new. You can contact Jaime,,,,,,,,,,jamie@chaplins.com
  8. Junkyard?? Get one off an Outback, & while there take measurements, screws, etc., for where to mount on your Brighton.
  9. The muffler does get splashed with water a lot & seems to last only a couple of years for me. At a dealer, the muffler alone, is near $400. You can get a small universal muffler at an auto parts store, adapt it & use it. $20. I pay a welder a little to install & weld the old rods in place that are mounted on the sides of the muffler.$20 more
  10. Also, many of the 1991's may have a carb, rather than FI. The carbs can be problematic, & $$$$.
  11. Possibly water in gas. Also, these things seem to all have neglected fuel filters. Under drivers side rail covered by a smal panel. Maybe some " water remover", Tune-up, & Seafoam injector cleaner & that might be all it needs.Nice car for that money!!
  12. I have a 94 2wd, 5 speed, too. I drove it on a long trip staying at 55-60mph ,& level Florida highways & my best mpg, so far, is 46.1. Some of these had problems with the oil pump, so when you test drive it, watch for the oil pressure light to come on, while idling!! You can put into gear & let the clutch out a little so the motor rpm slows down, to see if light comes on, too. Faulty oil pump can lead to lower engine failure. Even if it does come on, though, that looks like it is well worth the money!
  13. Are you talking about the black plastic piece that runs across the hatch, has Subaru decal on right side ?? It is mounted by a couple of attached plastic pins & clips, & also, the hatch handle & 2 rear license tag lights, that screw thru it. You remove interior access panel to get to it all. BAD thing, I see is no listing JUST for that cover, it is called.. I do see the " Cover, Rear gate assembly" as an entire assembly with hatch handle, lights, etc. Part number is; 7910 57380 for a 1994. May give Jamie@SubaruGenuineParts.com a line to see if she can get the " cover" only. Doubtful, that a junkyard would sell just this part, unless tailgate is damaged.I'll keep looking. Esteban I do see the larger center piece[ where plate lamps & latch attach, but it shows it is for an older model '88-'89. Not sure that would work. That Part # is 7910 44370. You can post your needs on this Justy website as well; http://subarujusty.proboards20.com/
  14. I am very leary of any salvaged title car, evem though I have owned a few. You could look it over really good, or let a mechanic. Look up under dash, for rusty wire connections, etc.Use a mirror & flashlight to reflect. IF it was saltwater, it will destroy everything, eventually. Freshwater, so, so! Be careful, & remember that the salvage title KILLS resale value. They shouldn't be asking much over 50% of retail for this car. So, if you buy it, you may just have to own it 4ever.
  15. I have seen the coil cause symptoms like that. See if it is getting a good strong spark,at the plug wire while trying to restart it, when hot.
  16. Here you go. On sale at Harbor Freight=$9.99 http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/Displayitem.taf?itemnumber=44768
  17. Looks to me like something that could be easily wrapped around a tree !!

  19. Yes,I have seen the " patchwork" rebuilds firsthand. A friend has a local rebuild shop in my hometown, & he & I took a tour of a competitors shop. This place has all immigrants working there " rebuilding" for major parts houses like Autozone, etc. Autozone will not buy from my friends shop because he is too expensive.[ he is thorough] They buy from this other guys shop, because all his " rebuilds" are $15/each. WHAT do you think you can get for $15 ?
  20. A word about Autozones, Advance, etc etc, " Lifetime Warranty." In my area, they will sell a part with a " one time replacement " lifetime warranty. They told me that this meant they will replace it free, ONCE, then after that you must pay the full price. They can keep their junk.Get one rebuilt, not patched. at a good rebuild shop.
  21. Bring them back into production !! With high gas prices we all need a " one passenger" car!
  22. Autozone, Advance, Discount, Pepboys, etc, etc. sell what I call " Patchwork rebuilds." I know for a FACT, that all the rebuild person does is replace what is defective, clean & paint. A " shiny" alternator may look good but be used junk inside. I have seen many torn down that were supposedly rebuilt from those retailers.
