  1. I recommend having it rebuilt at a reliable shop. I have seen alts from those stores you listed, torn down at a friend's rebuilding shop, & all that was ever done was patchwork, clean, & paint!!
  2. Their server is down for some reason. Try again, later. There are some very interesting " cars" on that site. Takes awhile to view all from A-Z.
  3. I had an '88 Justy that I worked on the carb several times.Never tried to rebuild it , but took it partially apart & cleaned, sprayed with carb cleaner, & blew out passages with air. I finally found most of the problems, put an extra in-line fuel filter on it, & VERY heavy dose of " Seafoam" & she ran well after that.Sold it 15,000 miles later, & she was still running good!
  4. OOPS, forgot link,,,,,,, http://subarujusty.proboards20.com/
  5. You will probably get more responses on this Justy website. Those carbs are $$$ to buy or even have rebuilt, by a shop.
  6. If you flushed the radiator ,yourself, many times that is just not good enough. Consider removing it & take it into a radiator shop.
  7. Just saw this cheap wagon on E Bay. It is located very close to me, in Fl. I may look & bid on it, to restore ,or sell for parts. Anyone interested in it or the parts off it?? Whaddayathink?? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1978-SUBARU-WAGON-1600-ci-4wd-STILL-RUNS-Barely_W0QQitemZ4574628246QQcategoryZ6467QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  8. Back to the ORIGINAL thread,,, it does sound like you may have gas/return lines crossed. When you turn the key & try starting , you should be able to hear the fuel pump clicking, under the drivers side of the car. You can also, post your topics/problems on this board, which is entirely for Justys. http://subarujusty.proboards20.com/
  9. This forum,,http://subarujusty.proboards20.com/ is dedicated to Justys & you will find answers to all your questions.
  10. I have a tow dolly, already & was trying to use it to help the friend. Car is an automatic. If I had a car hauling trailer, it would exceed towing limits of tow vehicle. I will let him get a rollback, or buy me a one way ticket back home & I'll drive it. THANKS!
  11. I have to tow a Subaru Legacy '96-'00 for about 400 miles. It must be done with a dolly. Is it better to have front wheels, or rear on the ground, or does it matter?? Don't want to do any damage & have never towed an all wheel drive before.
  12. Valve cover gasket is a cheap fix. Many vacuum lines run to & from carb. May find where one is loose & reconnect. I think they are good cars, & am driving another one, now.
  13. I drove an '88 [ same car] til I sold it at 240,000 miles. No major problems at all. I, also, second avoiding the automatic. Also, see if what is wrong with the carb is minor. Those carbs are big $$$ & tempermental. I easily got 38-42 mpg with mine. Don't know what you can get it for, but it shouldn't be very much.
  14. Read over this link for info. http://subarujusty.proboards20.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=everything&thread=1100392927&page=1
  15. If $400 will buy a complete donor car, that is not bad. Hope you can do the work yourself rather than pay a mechanic. Use the parts you need & keep the rest of the car for parts later. Get one as close to your year as possible, so more parts will fit.
  16. Wasn't me, though I was going to try to look at it. I think the owner was not Subaru knowledgeable. I guess, since I didn't know about " chain drive," I am not either. I once went to a car auction & there was A Ford Taurus there, exactly one year old ,by data plate, that had 102,000 miles on it!!! I guess the owner ate all 3 meals a day in it! LOL
  17. Locate in N. Central Fl. near me. http://www.kclaurila.com/subaru.htm
  18. I would like to check the status on a car for sale. Thanks you so much! e mail to; esteban@webkraft.net VIN k4355t7309928
  19. I think your only source will be dealer, very $$$, or junkyard. Check with this guy who is parting one out. sboardxtreme@yahoo.com
  20. Anyone have a Carfax account & can check this car for me? It is a 96 Subaru Legacy L wagon. Vin # is, 4S3BK4351T7933063.. Please post full results, here, or e mail me esteban@webkraft.net. Thanks a lot!
  21. This is the link to that board. It would be quite expensive & time consuming to change over. But, that Justy does sound great for that price. I would just keep looking for a factory 4wd & 5 speed, only. http://subarujusty.proboards20.com/
  22. Keep an eye on E Bay. I have seen brushes for the ECVT sell for as little as $10, there. B-A-B-Y that trans til you get it repaired or replaced.
