  1. I might win this contest !! '88 Justy,2wd., 240,000 miles, runs like a champ. I go to Daytona Beach, & back= 46.4 mpg.
  2. Thanks for the estimates. I passed on bidding on it,& it didn't meet reserve, but the owner offered it to me for $3600 If someone else may be interested in it, contact him.
  3. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/ebayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2472728963 What will be the repair cost[ dealer or good mechanic] to replace head gaskets & one rear wheel bearing ? I may be interested in this Forester.
  4. I will double check all parts . Car is FWD only. Is the gear removal from the trans still the same way??
  5. Now, why did they do this ????? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2467472903&category=6467
  6. I should have mentioned that it is a FWD car. The speedometer & cable are fine. It has to be that gear. Is the repair for a FWD unit still the same??
  7. Help ! 1992 Legacy 2.2 automatic needs a new speedometer gear. How do I get the old one out of the transmission ????
  8. Maybe a few Sube owners get together & make a bid, or use " Buy It Now." Cheap enough for a factory player.
  9. Just saw these listed on E Bay & thought someone may be interested. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2466260076&category=40019
  10. Wanting to change from 12" to 13" wheels on my 88 Justy. What wheels, if any , will bolt right on ??
  11. I have an '88 Justy, 2wd, with carb problems. It runs pretty good at speed, but will not idle. I do know that I need a thermostat. Never really warms up.Screw adjustments are not the problem. Parts stores want a ton of money for a rebuilt carb. Any other options????
  12. My Justy has 12' wheels & I would like to go to 13'. What wheels will bolt right on??
  13. 1988 Justy, original engine, 3 cyl. 235,000 mi.
  14. As stated above, changing to a larger diameter tire size can achieve the higher speed with less RPM's. But a trade off is more top heavy, finding rims & tires that fit, & inaccurate speedometer. I don't know if you have 12" or 13" tires, but use the chart http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html Just use your original tire size on the left & try different sizes on the right. At the bottom, you will see the difference in %.Also, cut back speed 5mph or more will help.
  15. Thanks for all the advice.Supposedly the air suspension, turbo, & tranny are fine. I am going to try & go look at it first.
  16. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2455487270&category=6467 I may bid on this car, but don't have an idea of its possible value. I live about 7 hours from Miami, where it is located. Thanks!
  17. Looks like I will buy a Legacy L wagon, soon. i would like a little more clearance, & wonder will the Outback Wagon wheels fit the Legacy L ?
  18. It does sound like it is in the distributor to me, also. But, the only fuel filter is that one above the panel under the driver. That is the fuel pump there with it, as well. If it is bad, there is a universal Purolator electric fuel pump that is almost identical to it.It is 3-5 psi & you just need some minor fitting changes & it works fine, but is noisier than original.
  19. Dinero, If I decided on a Legacy outback or Forester, how do I identify the 2.5 " Phase 2?" I am originally from Spartanburg, S.C., myself.
  20. I will need a new car soon, & it has to be able to tow about #1200 all on level Florida ground, inclines on boat ramps, etc. Will the OB Sport be able to do this. Auto or stick shift?? How dependable is the OBS?I like the 98-2000 Forester but am wary of the 2.5. Are there any years that the 2.5 is better? Thanks!
  21. Craig, I am not sure what that hole is for, but mine is just a smooth bore & plugged at the other end.Nothing in there to leak. Use a mirror & flashlite & you can see in it. As said before, mine has always leaked from the distributor & that may be where your oil is coming from, too. Just a few drops of oil seems to make a mess, but never do I add any oil. Mine has 231,000 miles on it & never had the head off. If yours leaks a lot, you could see about getting the valve cover gasket, an O ring on the distributor shaft replaced, & anything else that may be leaking. These ARE a 1.2 Fuji[ Subaru] designed engine, in America.
  22. Look at the pix. Are you talking about where the white pencil is sticking out of??
  23. I am not exactly sure about your description of where the leak is coming from. These engines DO leak thru the distributor shaft & that gets on everything below it. Maybe that is it????
  24. I can only attest for my Justy.1988 with 231,000 miles. Still has original starter, alternator, CV joints, just replaced original clutch, never removed heads, does not use oil. Oil changed every 3-4000 miles & gets 38mpg city/ 44 highway@ 60mph:D
