  1. You'll have to create a place for the suspension to bolt up under the floorboard.
  2. Not really true, I installed a set of dual blowing fans on UltimateRX in front of the radiator (you lose A/C though), that seems to work pretty good, Tex knows this setup, but is looking for other possible options.
  3. Here is where I looked when I needed a fan for a conversion. http://store.summitracing.com/egnsearch.asp?N=700+115+%2D128238&D=%2D128238
  4. Looks like Mark dinged up his car pretty back, hope it is only cosmetics. Anyone know what happened??
  5. Dave, I haven't changed the plugs yet either, the only problem that I have had was that the temp sensor went out, it is a bear to get to without tearing the top of the engine all apart.
  6. The odometer had 85,000 miles on it when I did the conversion, I just passed 120,000 miles this morning on the way into work, so that means that I have 35,000 miles on my conversion with very little (nothing unusual) problems. So, how many miles do others have on their conversions?
  7. I think it would be a lot easier to match up the engine wiring to to the Impreza harness then matching up the Legacy harness to the Impreza.
  8. Maybe be a little more expensive, but did you ever think of going over to Aaron's and getting a 2.2 Impreza wiring harness?
  9. Problems like this is why I hate working on electric problems. It just doesn't seem to make sense, but it happens. Worst case senerio, replace the fuse box (which is a real pain).
  10. Well, it wasn't a wrecking yard, but it did require a rebuilt title. I don't believe that there is any law that states if your car was equiped from the factory with air bags that the car has to have them after rebuild, if fact some cars come with a switch that you can turn the bag system off if you want to now. I can't believe how much damage is done by air bags deploying. My car would not have had a broken windsheild if it weren't for the air bag. When the one on the steering wheel deployed, it broke something that caused the horn not to function until you replaced the turn signal and wiper switch assys. The inspector also didn't check to see if the horn honked, which it didn't at the time of the inspection.
  11. That's funny, when I took my car in for it's inspection (Yakima), they never looked at that, in fact, I removed the bags in my car, the covers are there, but there is nothing under them.
  12. Well I'll have to look in the motorhome, my personal manuals (93 to 97) have had the wiring diagrams combined so that I have a complete 1996 wiring diagram (well as complete as possible). In the motorhome I have all those manuals that Ken and I got from that guy in Canada a few years ago, I might have the early Impreza stuff still.
  13. Where did you hear that? The web site still has it listed for this Sunday. Never mind, I found it, http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1105398 .
  14. Thanks for the offer, but I need to get my car back on the road, if it isn't fixed on Saturday, I'll still be working on it on Sunday.
  15. If I get the 96 running (darn cooling sensor problem), I might run down for the last event of 2006 (spectator only).
  16. If you look on the intake manifold, just to the front of the trottle body, you'll see the 5th injector. I was put there for enrichment during certain engine conditions, it was later discontinued as they learned how to program the ECU better.
  17. Looks great, I'm planning to put JDM EJ20G heads on my EJ22T engine, that would be closer to what the EJ22G was. I probably would use the EJ25 heads if I didn't have a set of EJ20G heads already. Notice that you remembered to paint the timing belt cover red too.
  18. Sorry, going to have to pass this time, don't think I could make the drive back home in time for work on Monday.
  19. What engine are you starting with? Why do you think you would have to do anything to the ECU?
  20. Was it a Subaru dealer?? I ask because any Subaru trained mechanic or anyone who works on Subarus will tell you that Subarus don't have sleeved pistions. They have a block with the cylinder for the pistons bored into the block. The only time there would vere be a sleeve is if the psiton walls were badly scored by a broken rod and they had to sleeve that one piston hole. Get a second opinion from a reputable mechanic.
  21. Here is one link, http://grahamberry2.co.jp/impreza_gc8/ and here is another, http://www.catherineandken.co.uk/sti/engine.html . I hope that they help, as you can see, information differs depending upon where you look. By the way, this is only for engines in Imprezas, not Legacys (Libertys).
  22. 'G' is the code for turbocharged DOHC, 'T' is the code for a turbocharged SOHC from 1985 to 1996 and on for some engines. For example, EA82T, SOHC turbo engine in EA82 series cars, the EJ22T, SOHC turbo engine in US Legacys from 1991 to 1994, the EJ20G, DOHC turbo engine in JDM (and others) Legacys 1989 to ??? and Impreza WRXs 1993 to 1996, with the exception of the 22B, it had the EJ22G, a 2.2 liter DOHC turbo engine. What information do you want to know about the engine.
  23. Price will be all over the place depending upon where you get the parts. A 'L' hood is baiscally one piece, the RS/OBS hood is made up of 4 basic pieces, the hood, the scoop assy and the two vents, At a wrecking yard, you might be able to get the RTS/OBS hood at the same price as a L hood, but most Imprezas that I have seen in a wrecking yard have front end damage, so good luck looking there.
  24. I don't know, for some reason I was thinking that the engine wiring on the Imprezas were different then the Legacys, maybe it's just the body wiring.
