  1. On the newer cars, the ECU chip can be re-flashed with performance upgrades.
  2. I love the group shots of the EA82 Coupes. How'd your car handle in the rallyx?
  3. Idaho?? Is that a coast state?? If it is, then we need to consider Nevada and Arizona, and Mexico, if we are considering Canada.
  4. Don't you get the feeling that he doesn't want to drive in Oregon. I'll bet there is an outstanding warrant for his arrest in Oregon. Wonder what he did??
  5. You have something against Oregon? Or is there a warrent out for your arrest in Oregon? You probably live closer then most of the people that I know who went there from Washington.
  6. Yea, you guys have no good excuse, my wife is going through chemotherapy for breast cancer and she made the trip. I won't have come if she didn't want to, but she said she was going, so go we went. Friday darn near caused her to colapse from the heat, but she stuck it out, what a trooper, a certified Subaru nut.
  7. Did you really mean to type '97' or should it be '07'? I would think that the 06 had a smog pump too.
  8. Yea, that would be nice, I didn't get anywhere near the beer garden, don't even know if one exsisted. I had one of my Guiness' sitting in the dark by my tent with my wife (who unknown to most of you is going through chemotherapy for breast cancer, and made the trip to the show, now that's dedication). I took some dash plaques over to John (Subaru West) and had a great single malted scotch. When back to my tent slept great until about 1:30 AM (I'll stop at that). Next year if there is a show, I'll have a lot more time to enjoy the show like I did at WCSS 3 (the last time that I had a good time at a show).
  9. The Turbo Legacy use a hydraulic clutch setup, and it is a pull type clutch, these two mach the conversion very hard to find original parts for it. I do know that people who have rallied these cars have installed WRX trannies in them, but there are some mods that need to be made. You will probably have a better chance of finding a WRX tranny then one from a Turbo Legacy, but you will possibly need to also chance the rear diff for a ratio that matches that tranny. The clutch pedal assy may be hard to get ahold of also, but I think that the Impreza RS' had hydraulic clutches and those peday assemblies should work.
  10. I would like to echos Zap's comment on both posts, that open and the locked ones. I too have had it will all the work that goes into putting on the show. I will be a participant from now on. I think I will even go as far as staying at a nearby hotel so that I can get a good nights sleep. I can not believe how inconsiderate people can be. I love the one comment of one of the late night noise makers as he drove into the area, "Oh, you are at the quiet end of the camp!", to which I was thinking, "It was until you showed up." I'm sorry if I woke anyone up in the morning, I have a voice that carries, I was trying to be quiet, but I am a morning person, usually at work by 5 AM. I hope that there are more WCSS', I'll try to attend them. Whoever does continue these, please remember to move the location around, while Hood River is a great place, it is too far for some people (yes I know some people came a long way, but not everyone is that dedicated), try to make it fun for everyone, and most of all keep a thick skin and good luck.
  11. He didn't have to ask, it was his mud pit.
  12. I guess this is one of the bennies of working at Aaron's Auto Wrecking.
  13. Definately bringing the Legacy now, the clutch in the WRX still slips, even after adjustments (not as bad as before, but still slips). My AAA will only tow within 100 miles of home, and Hood River is outside of that by quite a few miles. I will still be judging all the conversions. I finally found a throw out bearing, but the clutch kit doesn't get here until Monday, leaving no time to get the clutch in before the show. I'm getting too old to burn the midnight oil to get the car ready. Besides, it is not really in the condition that I want it to be in at the moment, there will always be next year.
  14. Good luck, Subaru swaps are much different the other swaps, I know, I have done many swaps of many different makes and engines, but none of them were like any of the Subaru swaps that I did.
  15. Maybe you should do your homework before you even think about a conversion, or find a place that does these type of conversions and pay them to do it. Why not enjoy your Impreza as it is for awhile so that you can gain the knowledge. Use 'Google' or some other search engine to get information. This is not something a novice should take on, it is a complex conversion, not a simple bolt up. Do your homework, come back and ask intelligent questions, then I will answer you, I have done several of these type of conversion, and will be able to tell you the pit falls, but I don't want to have to explain in minute details, every step. Not knowing what a front clip is tells me that you are no ready to learn.
  16. No, it means that YOUR car goes through a tech inspection.
  17. No, a Type RA is a version of a WRX. Dave has just put a RA drive train in his EA82 series car (for the second time).
  18. Plans might be changing, the clutch in the WRX is beginning to slip, I can get the clutch kit, but for some reason on one has the throwout bearing in stock (the clutch is a Centerforce Dual Fiction 230mm pull type).
  19. I love the answer. Well depending upon where you get the front clip from and how complete it is and how much of the work you can do yourself, I would say a good ballpark figure would be somewhere between $4,000 and $6,000. It could be less and it could be a lot more, there are a lot of variables there. My Type R creation probably cost close to $12,000 (the paint alone is over $500 a gallon), but now I have truly a one of a kind car, there may be several out there that look like mine, but I have never seen one that is exactly like mine.
  20. That is pretty close, the Type RA and R also had a slightly more powerful engine.
  21. Registration is closed, so you won't be able to. But on the web site where you clicked the PayPal link, it was right above it, right after the "Step 1.", PayPal was step two.
  22. Too expensive to bring two cars, we're leaving the Legacy at home.
  23. First thing that I would do is wait for a cold day and then burn that manual. Other then that follow what Legacy777 said. They may cost more, but you can't go wrong with a factory manual.
